Devaluating Rem does not elevate Emilia. Heck a whole season is necessary for Rem to sleep by in order for Emilia to come in focus. But am betting my resources that she won't be able to pull it off..Hehehe. Well Platonic Love will conquer lust. REM OVER EMILIA ANY DAY!!! By your statement, I would like to point out once again the obvious, when Subaru gets messed by Rem then it's "Oh she is nasty" but when she gets messed up for protecting Subaru then "it was a side line so doesn't matter"??!!!. Well you Emilia guys are sure need to sort out your priorities... The difference is that Subaru is the same person across all timelines, Rem isn't. His suffering remains, hers is erased. That said, you brought that argument, not me. As for Emilia, she told him to stay at the inn for his sake, he promised he would but then broke it within hours - so she thought it would be best for him to stay away for his own sake. I can't go mention any other reasons since it is a spoiler for what's to come. Emilia takes promises seriously for a lot of reasons related to her past. |

| As a waifu/partner for Subaru? I can't stand how obsessive Rem is. No love relationship based on that can be good. Emilia is supportive and all while still showing her own motivations, problems, and feelings (other than feelings for Subaru). Emilia feels like a person, while Rem feels like nothing but a really obssesive servant (still kinda adorable tbh, but not because of that). And as a character? Ever since the Memory Snow OVA I feel that Emilia is stronger as a character, but it's just above Rem's backstory, development, and overall cuteness. Not an easy question, but i'll go with Emilia in both cases. |

Despite Subaru telling her that his heart belongs to Emilia, she not only continues to stick with Subaru, but she even agreed to help her love rival. She is the Cuck Queen of Re:Zero. Imagine what will happen a couple years down the road, Subaru and Emilia get married, they're starting a life together, and where does that put Rem?  Rem's gonna be stuck on the sidelines, neglected and forgotten, with nothing to do but watch as Emilia and Subaru live happily together. Rem's so good at housework, I wouldn't even put it past her if she becomes the house maid when Emilia and Subaru start living together. Who knows? Maybe she won't be completely disregarded. Subaru may decide to occasionally use her for his own pleasure when Emilia isn't around. Let's face it, Emilia is consistently better than Rem. While Emilia was best girl material from the very start, Rem only became likeable to most of the viewers in the third arc. And it wasn't because she had an amazing personality or good character development, she just got a lot of screen time. I guarantee you that any other girl would have become just as loved as Rem if they were put in the kind of circumstances that she was. First Arc: Rem Nobody know who Rem was in the first season. Even if they did, no-one cared. Emilia Comes off as a sweet and independent girl who stole the hearts of the viewers across the world. Second Arc: Rem Generic maid, her name wasn't even worth remembering until she went batshit crazy and started killing Subaru. Emilia Here we saw a more personal side to Emilia, this arc deepened the bond between Subaru and Emilia and it also developed her character a lot. Third Arc: Rem She becomes generic waifu bait. The only thing that develops in her character is her ability to take up screen time. Emilia We see a more responsible side of Emilia. She decides to focus all of her time and effort towards making her nation prosper as well as ensuring equality for all. As you can see form the different arcs, Emilia's character is constantly developing as the story progresses and that allows us to see new sides to her personality over time. On the other hand, Rem can be put into only two categories: Pre-3rd arc and Post-2nd arc. The only difference between them is that one is shit-tier and the other is cuck-tier, respectively. In conclusion, Rem is shit. Even Subaru was able to realize what a shit-tier waifu Rem was, no wonder he decided to stick with Emilia. Rem is the cancer of the anime community. The fact that she has become this popular is an embarrassment to anime fans (with good taste) everywhere.  This is what that filthy maid deserves:-  Emilia x Subaru FTW! Emilia is best girl! This. Obviously, the one chosen by MC himself is the canon OTP. Y’all sleeping on Emilia, there’s so much about her yet to be explored. We only got a small taste of her heartfelt compassion in S1. The cruelest thing Emilia did was boot Subaru for....breaking his own word and interrupting the moment she had been looking forward to all her life. Getting to speak and represent herself as a candidate for the world she will change. She didn’t get mad for nothing. Rem killing Subaru’s argument has been overused by now but point still stands. The cruelest Rem ever hurt Subaru was murder him on suspicion he is of the witch’s ally. That was uncalled for, yet when she resets she won’t remember, only what it feels like to obsess over him when he risks his life and changes her depleted self confidence. He remembers all.. Being unhealthily obsessed to fix past childhood abuse is not a good base for romantic development. Emilia was never impatient to Subaru, or the people she wants to fight for, the city that prejudicially discriminates against her for resembling Satella. Rem’s a sweet girl, but it just doesn’t work. She would rather be the third wheel and step down for Subaru to be happy with the one he loves. How will she truly be satisfied if she’s only tolerating being side piece? Her future would only work fruitfully in the IF storyline. IF Subaru loved her more. Emilia is not useless. Everything she does is for the greater good, naive at most. Emilia rarely had friends, her personality isn’t going to be identical to the affectionate Rem. (Y’all also sleeping on Ram...) If it wasn’t for the reset, we would’ve seen more of S1 Emilia and Subaru’s ship development. The first night at Roswal’s he was supposed to have his date with her...but when he woke up... Reset :’D Let a man choose the one he loves. She didn’t reject his confession nor her own duties at the end of S1. Despite the cancerous fanwars I’m just super keen to see S2 EMT screentime for a change and more chances to know her. Don’t need to elevate Emilia, she already shines on her own.
