| I have used them for as long as I can remember and of course there'll be ignorant people who'll call you out for it or think you're some kind of degenerate for liking "cartoons". Over the years I've learned to just ignore them...and...kinda...internally laugh at them for not being able to understand an art medium, but finding deep meaning for their existence in kicking a ball around and taking pictures of themselves. |
| All the time yes, I don't like using photos of myself for anything and I don't have a lot of live action things that I would use for avatars. I don't called out for it, except when I'm bickering with someone and they just use that as a cheap shot. |

| I have Johan Liebert as avatar for a metal forum and have never been called out for it, but that's to be expected since it's the single most respectful group of people I ever met online. |

| For a long time, I used that picture of the Hibike Euphonium girl but all of her limbs, fingers, head and stuff were replaced with legs for my main Facebook profile with 95% normies friends and traditional conservative Asian family. I had a friend reply that I was the biggest disappointment to humanity that he'd ever bore witness to. My Google plus profile is the same as my mal forum picture. I had to present a slideshow that I had saved there for a university course assignment and forgot about that. I'm still talking to all of them fine. So as long as you keep anime to a moderate level, it's not a problem to most people. |
