Ironic considering the fact that Avatar failed was because it was viewed in the same light as a weeaboo (superficially using Japanese culture) and yet RWBY succeded.

How trustworthy is this? It's very hard for me to image that Japanese people dislike Avatar, especially since most of them don't even know the concept of "weeaboo". On top of that, Avatar draws much more inspiration from Chinese culture than Japanese (except for the artstyle).

Do you have any sources contradicting this?

I looked up a few episodes, tried watching the first one but I felt kind of weird. Its very interesting seeing a show done like this and I'm pretty open minded when it comes to entertainment.Might give more of the episodes a try before I form a concrete judgement.

The impression I get is that appeal for this show comes from its style and the fact it tries to emulate an anime/jrpg style of story.Once I've finished up a few more series I might try watching more of this just to form my own opinion.

But no,its not disrespectful to anime,if anything I would think Japan would be flattered to seeing westerners making more efforts to "copy" their style.I think its interesting seeing how both cultures influence each other to be honest. There have always been plenty of mangaka who were inspired by western comic books, that's no secret...so whats wrong with the opposite happening?

I don't think so. If anything I feel it's fairly good. It might be "low budget" but honestly I quite enjoyed it. In fact, everyone just blatantly saying it sucks trying to get a reaction out of someone is much more juvenile than the actual fan base.

No, RWBY is masterpiece itself to the point that it cannot be listed and rated as such in MAL for its too much tenacity and qualiy of a show. Its a once in a lifetime equation of love, friends and character development and NO im not joking around when i said its 10/10 (unratable) because the character story are nice and such, they make anime such a disgrace comparable hence we do not! REPEAT: DONOT compare RWBY as anime. roger and out

Anime is disrespectful to Japan as a nation.

Arguing with people is something passionate people do, you can't be boring if you're passionate. Arguing is part of the human condition.
