Do you think Cross Ange is better than Aldnoah.Zero?

I finished both series and people used to compare these two series a lot. I honestly think Cross Ange is way better than this utter piece of garbage known as Aldnoah.Zero, at first I was expecting Cross Ange to be ridiculously bad due to how awful it's first episode was and Aldnoah.Zero as a masterpiece due to how good it's first episode was but it turns out to be the other way around.

Cross Ange - low expectation, normal outcome. It started as a fan-service lesbo anime and it ended that way no problem. Well... they have one guy... but doesn't really have a harlem. Thing is people who watched Cross Ange did not have too much expectation from the plots. Most just stayed for the mecha or the boobs (or both). But then it turns out they gave quite a bit of surprises, and the amount of back stories and plots surprised people. It was good overall because everything has a smooth flow and makes sense within the spectrum of Ange's superpower (still not sure why she can pilot a robot without prior training, but we will let one "BUG" go...)

AZ on the other hand had a wonderful setting, amazing back stories, full of plots to be filled, and 2 very unique main characters which everyone have high hopes for in terms of them being the key to peace between Earth and Mars. But ever since season 2 started, it started going down slope. Because everything become a K-drama with the anime spending WAY TOO MUCH TIME focusing on Inaho and Slaine fighting each other for Asseylum, just so that she can marry some rich guy, then it all went down to the shitter.

The only character in this ENTIRE series that tries to keep everything together is Slaine. He is the only person in the entire season 2 to be constantly thinking about the origin of all the problems (Aldnoah drive and resources), Vers future, what kind of government it deserves, how to end this war, how to proceed to the future of human race as a whole. But still, he is not doing a very good job at it because the director did not give us a very clear explanation of his intention and his thought process. Instead, director make Slaine moan way too much about Asseylum being in coma and stuff, even though he is literally the only guy that is still thinking of the bigger picture. No one really knows what he truly wanted besides earning a piece of Earth for the new empire that even commoners have a chance to be successful. We don't know at all what he plans to do with it afterward or how he plans to strike peace with Earth afterward. So in the end, it all seemed like Slaine was very immature and was dreaming the whole time (maybe he was immature, but we have absolutely no way of knowing because the director did an extremely poor job at portraying his inner thinking). In fact, Slaine was so poorly explained throughout the season that a lot of us (at least I did) hoped for a grand finale that would explain Slaine's ultimate goal in the last minutes similar to Code Geass (although not the same way since Lelouch is a "bug" himself with superhuman intelligent and planned everything). But nope, that never happened and Slaine's intention remains a mystery, possibly even to the worthless director of this anime himself.

And then it all ended as soon as the dumb princess woke up. She is still the same naive girl as episode 1 who believes Mars and Earth can magically be in peace. In fact I am confident that she has learned absolutely nothing throughout the 24 episodes except the trivia about why the sky is fking blue (for fk sake Asseylum, get your grips together). She was even stupid enough to give the only technology that keeps Mars relevant away to Earth, which effectively eliminates all possibilities of Mars ever getting a piece of Earth in the future when one day Mars can no longer host all the Martians. She forced the peace onto them last minute, without solving any of the problems that was mentioned in the anime such as Feudalism of Vers empire, lack of resources in Mars, their hatred towards Earthlings for wasting resources, etc.

This is why AZ sucked. It started epic but everything is half-assed and half finished. It's almost 2000 times more half-assed than how Guilty Crown deals with its plot holes. Most of us are lost as to why the war suddenly ended and why Mars and Earth can suddenly get together. All because one princess chick said so? So was the entire series of 24 episodes of struggles were all a waste of time? All they needed was a princess to say "yo, let's peace bros, and make me a drum circle nao"???

Why do you think Cross Ange first episode ridiculously bad ?!! Is that just because of the rape thing ?

I personally enjoyed Cross Ange from start to finish. Both have good 1st episode but cross ange kept good until the end while Aldnoa.zero had horrible ending.

Also, the characters in Cross Ange are far better and more likable than boring characters like Inaho. Inaho is basically a robot or a dead man walking, one of the most boring character I've seen.

Both shows are good overall. But Cross Ange is easily better out two.

Actually I think that Aldnoah Zero is just slighty less of a train wreck than Cross Ange. At least in A/Z I can make out something that looks like a head and the tail of story. But for Cross Ange is just a shapeless blob in my opinion. The writers were so desperate to pay homage to gundam and fan service of every damn kind that the story was lost in the process.

High production value garbage or low production value garbage?

Michael Bay or Uwe Boll?

It all comes down to preference of a viewer. Personally, I enjoyed both. AZ takes the cake for being better looking and having better soundtrack.

Haters can kill me but I'll have to say I enjoyed Cross Ange a lot more than Aldnoah :) yuri has always been my thing and I don't hate NTR so Cross Ange felt like it was reading my mind and giving me what I want the whole time (something almost every series won't give) :D

The only advantage Aldnoah has over Cross Ange are its awesome OSTs, I loved all their musics :D other than that, the battles and story cannot outclass Cross Ange.

Aldnoah Zero had more potential, but the fact that it fucked that up so royally easily made it much more dislikeable. There's also the fact that entire sections (read: any part that happened on Earth or involved the humans) was boring as fuck.

Now Cross Ange wasn't conventionally good, heck it was stupid as all hell, but was I entertained? Was I pretty much glued to my screen every week to see how dumb it could get? Of course I was. And honestly I care so much more about whether I enjoyed myself and had fun watching an anime than whether the animation was on point every week or every plot point actually made sense. Like, the villain was a sapiosexual anti-feminist douchebag that only used his god powers (which he gave the pretentious name of 'tuner' because he's far too posh and respectable to use such a tacky term as 'god') to teleport around for the sake of pretty much only annoying the main characters, not dying in the stupidest ways that mostly involved popping up on the other side of the room like "lol missed me" and make himself seem like a sexual master in the most dudebro way he could manage. There's also the fact that his name was fucking Embryo. Does Sunrise know what that word actually means?

Cross Ange cause Ange is not only a badass ex-princess she has the ability to show emotions!

Also after the whole "implied rape" and the first 3 or 4 episodes. I was genuinely entertained week after week.

A.Z season 1 5/10 A.Z season 2 3/10

Cross Ange was easily the best mech of the season compared to G no Reconguista and A.Z. There was no contest really. xD
