Are you a fan of Japanese music, Japanese dramas, Japanese movies, or Japanese culture in general (Let's exclude anime here)? Then this is the thread for you.

This thread encourages discussion towards the latest songs of your favorite idol groups, the tear-jerking moments of Japanese dramas, favorite movies, and the hilarity of Japanese variety shows.

You can also recommend songs and shows to watch to each other; however, spam listing is not allowed.

I'll start.

Best J rock band IMO is Les Ralizes Denudes. I also like Loudness, Vow Wow, Seikima II, X Japan, and Sabbat.

Best Japanese movie is Seven Samurai which is also the best movie ever! Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune are epic!

Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past."

Kishida Kyoudan &THE Akeboshi Rockets makes amazing music. I learned about them after watching some of Highschool of the Dead (they made the opening song), but they've made much more than that.

The only JDrama I've watched is Nodame Cantabile, and it was amazing!! I never thought a live action could capture the humor found in anime, but they did it perfectly.

Nano fan here, been following her for about 2 years now. She is the dopest singer out cause her songs are english and japanese at the same time, which also goes great with her beautiful voice.

I think all the Akira Kurosawa films I've seen are great some are just really different from each other too different to compare. Ran is certainly also a masterpiece Imo.

Sekai no Owari

Speaking of J-entertainment. Anyone watch Okaxile? I forgot what year it was, but this was definitely one of the best ones.

I vaguely remember Okamura doing it on SMAP's live performance and they got really angry at him, especially Nakai.

They talk about anime related songs and artists. There's rarely anyone who listens to anything that isn't otaku culture related. Baby Metal, Nano and vocaloids are popular examples.

I've seen several who listen to just anything Japanese but its obviously just because they wanna worship anime land. I still say best J rock group is Les Ralizes Denudes. Beautifully hideous music. I recall a group called Terms Symphonia which was interesting. They were pop or maybe prog rock but I found them on the metal archives. They did get removed though.

I think ani son is kind of bad to be honest... I'm more into the classic j-pop songs, such as: ハナミズキ、桜坂 and one more time, one more chance. If you like ani son, you probably like idol groups as well?

This is so bad, I can't believe something like this exists.

That misplaced sax solo though...

The original was awesome, I have no idea why they decided to ruin it with that.

I don't really see any classic Japanese artists? Mostly ani songs. Like Ichiro Mizuki definitely is a classic Japanese singer, but he sings ani sons. I thought you would be into songs like へビーローテーション since it's related in terms of otaku culture. Don't you like Fukuyama Masaharu?
