I agree, the producers want us to feel this hate towards her. But I wish they didn't make such a character.

You're supposed to feel that way about the character. That's the face-palm moment every time people hate on some literary work, they don't even realize that is what makes X good, because the author succeed in making you feel and think how he intended.

The wisdom of the Japanese should be brandished here: "【しかたがない】" <- not in that hip-dip-shit attitude but in the more profound sense of surrender.

Oh you guys. Wait till she fulfils her role. Personally, I can predict few character developments for her and the role in the plotline:
1) Becomes a(n even more) hated character and sways over to Kamui.
2) One freak accident and it's all it takes for her to become the hero and save Akane's or an Enforcers life in exchange of her own.
Now brew tea, grab those digestives and wait a week of stressful await to watch next odd 25 minutes of tease.

I'm pretty sure Mika was written to be disliked by the audience at first. She's strong-willed (in her own way), but inexperienced and far too eager to prove herself, despite not having the right skillset for the tasks.

She also disapproves of Akane's actions, but unlike Ginoza doesn't really have the right or justification to criticize the way she does.

In fact, with four episodes left, even finishing the season's plot satisfactorily might be an issue, never mind Mika's development. Hopefully the movie addresses everything that will stay untouched.

I know I'm late to this, but I've only just gotten around to watching season 2.

My problem with Mika is mostly that her character hasn't really been continued from season 1, it's like a totally new character.

She witnessed her class mates and best friend turned into grotesque works of art at the hands of one of her other class mates and then decides to become an Inspector, dealing with the worst criminals in society. This is should be important to her character, I expected it to be explored, particularly her motivations for taking that job and the toll it would take on her. This is Psycho Pass after all, a show that explores the characters psychology and motivations.

She should have been a meaty character to follow. But it's like none of that ever happened.

I totally agree with you. In fact, the complete disregard for bringing up her backstory left a lot of people missing the fact that she was from season 1 at all (myself included until I made this thread) Giving us more history on her could have turned her half-baked idiocy into something that at least made sense.
