It was always meant to be a fight series with a deconstruction of ideals. They added the h-scenes as a fail-safe. I don't understand why people don't seem to get it and look down on FSN all the time. The h-scenes aren't a reason I can take seriously, since Realta Nua is out.

They pretty much added the H-scenes to make it marketable since it most likely would not have gotten as popular as it did if there were no H-scenes. Gotta throw in cheap gimmicks if you want stuff to sell. I'm guessing that's also part of the reason Mahoyo didn't sell as great as it could have because of no H-scenes, nonetheless it still sold well for a VN.
