At this point I can't believe that V2-7 of season 2 will be lower than V2-7 in season 1. I just don't believe it. I know season 2 usually drops off but LoveLive! is so popular right now I just don't believe it. I don't think it will average 80K but I think volumes without event tickets will average 30-35K and I expect a second event ticket again on V7.

Assuming something silly like 100K for v1 and v7 and 35K for v2-6... would be a 54K average or thereabouts. Not enough to beat Bakemonogatari's average by a long shot but still very good.

There's my entry for the pool if there is one...

I agree with this. Even looking at season 1, most singles sold at 25~30k (and they hardly had any bonuses, compared to 6th single, etc, and the singles didn't even chart every week since release so thousands of sales is missing as well), and the BD volumes themselves sold around 25~28k (without the upcoming May 28 re-releases not even factored in yet, and not including the boosted volumes of 1 and 7).

Since the recent 2nd season ED, which doesn't have any bonuses such as the OP had, sold 45k in the 1st week... it is hard to believe that only 24k will buy the BDs. The storefront effect is noticeably bigger than Season 1, if people have been following the rankings at Animate, gamers, softmap, HMV, Toranoana, etc. Also, most are banking on Vol.7 having a ticket for another concert... so if that's true, then Vol.7 will also get a sizeable boost in sales, almost comparable to Vol.1.

My predictions at the beginning of the season was:

Vol.1: 50~60k
Vol.2~6: 30~35k
Vol.7: 40~45k
Average: 34~40k (without Vol.7 event ticket is 32.9~38.6k)

Now my predictions are:

Vol.1: 80~90k
Vol.2~6: 35~40k
Vol.7: 60~65k
Average: 45~50.8k (without Vol.7 event ticket is 41.5~47k)

*Looks at current Amazon rankings* So uhhh...yeah...Namco Bandai Holdings products...ummm wow these guys seem to have things tied down in 2014. Forget making Monogatari's average, how does anyone else compete with this sheer number of popular titles across a multimedia spectrum right now. The competition right now almost seems to be between their own titles with Love Live, Idolmaster and Gundam Unicorn holding the top 3 spots with the likes of Turn A Gundam, Jojo (they have a small stake in this one too) and Tiger and Bunny not too far behind and that's just for anime. It's pretty insane how well they've played their cards this year already and how stacked in the companies favor the metaphorical deck seems right now. I kind of have to appreciate the variety of offerings as well even if some of it really isn't all that much to my taste.

It doesn't mean anything until IMAS will still be at the top 5 two weeks later. If it does, then it truly is the golden age of idol anime. Don't care who comes up on top.

I agree with the others about Love Lives later volumes. I see no way it drops to less than the first season since the franchise is a much bigger phenomenon then it is was back then. I'd just ignore the 2nd volume projections until they're closer to coming out and people focus on preordering them more. I'd still expect 40-50k for them.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei's OP - Rising Hope by LiSA definitely deserved its place. But it can't be denied that it's Anime is slightly underrated or am I left from the updates? Still, this season's best anime for me is Mahouka together with its epic opening's singer, LiSA. <3 <3 <3
"I'm just your typical human being who commit sins just like you. But the difference is that I never lied and tell anyone that what I did was right. I regret and ask for forgiveness from Him."

Why is my signature not anime-related? It's because who gives a fuck? Anyway I'd like to advertise to you this:

SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN IS FOLLOWING A SIMPLE FLOW OF THE STORYLINE. AND IT GETS REPETETIVE IF YOU VIEW IT ON ITS BIGGER PICTURE. WITH A LITTLE PLOT TWIST AND NEW IDEAS, YOU FORGOT THAT IT HAD ALREADY HAPPENED BEFORE.

Mahouka dropped out of the top 400.
So I think we can assume the 1# and 2# spot will go to JoJo and Love Live! 3rd is still debatable, but if Haikyuu has KnB levels of storefront affects, it'll take 3#. But if it does not, then Wixoss, Mushishi and Sidonia also have a chance at it(assumiing they reach 10k).

My biggest pet peeve with Mahouka was less about the show itself, and more on those circlejerk fanboys (on literally every anime forum i visited, not just MAL) that ruthlessly defend the series and attack any criticism because they take that cirticism as personal attack for them. I have absolutely no sympaty for those kind of people and combined with the "Blind Fanboys" (Hardcore fans who intentionally keep their ears shut tight despite well-thought points being raised) should just go to hell already. And these people weren't immature brats. They had tags citing their age over 30 (far older than mine) on their profile, which is very laughable if you ask me. This is also the biggest annoyance that has happened with other series with huge source following (Raildex, SAO).

Thanks God i've dropped Mahouka sometimes ago, so i no longer have to listen to such crap.

(I know that this isn't quite the right place to rant over a certain series, but i would still need a free place on internet to air my view)

Love Live is probably not going to make even close to it's predicted estimate now with the whole Glee plagiarism accusation thing really blowing up in Japan. I'm surprised they are making this a thing but a lot of people seem REALLY pissed over this unless it's just those infamous 2ch anti types coming out of the wood work. Personally I don't know why people are making this big a stink out of it when the director apparently even admitted that it was a homage and that he's a fan of Glee and has paid tribute to that show before in season, but there you go.

That will wear off soon, it would take something like one of the VAs sleeping with men to really put a dent in sales.

If your only reason to be on this thread is to retort to people then it's clear that you don't have much of a meaningful life either.

On a more topic related note, did Noragami really drop that much?? Wasn't it selling around 6k before?

I wonder if people are aware the big 3 idol shows (Love Live, Aikatsu, Idolmaster) all come from the same company in Namco Bandai in the end so if they support any of them they are ultimately supporting all of them. Its like saying you hate FF so you're going to get the new Dragon Quest instead out of spite without realizing your money is all ending up in the same peoples pockets at the end of the day. There is no way to be anti one or the other when it's a monopoly though I suppose people could go the Wake Up Girls route if that's even a thing still.

Mod Edit: Removed quote of deleted quote. Hopefully it's still relevant...

Hardcore fans know about it but they don't care. I guess what matters to them is that their idols come up on top. It's a friendly rivalry to most people anyway but some trolls just want to spice things up.

Was one of the most discussed anime of the season. The impression I get is that NGNL has came out of nowhere to completely steal the spotlight on Mahouka, and I don't get the impression that Dengeki and Aniplex will be pleased by how their "next SAO" turned out to be.

Neither show is particularly great IMO and somehow I doubt it has anything to do with that. My guess is both shows have a lot of drama and hype and people don't realize it really doesn't reflect on much sales wise in a foreign country. Both shows definitely have that element that amiluhur mentioned and they're just kind of the worst so maybe that has something to do with it all.

Its not like NGNL is doing better. Its projected to sell like 3k while Mahouka is projected to sell about 6k.

And just my personal opinion, but NGNL doesn't seem better than any other fantasy harem LN anime so I don't really get why its taken off in the West. Its not bad but its not great either.

i believe it because Mahouka is very confusing. also that show start very slow and boring.
just like Log Horizon, even though i think Log Horizon is much better than SAO, i still think SAO is more entertaining.

now a days people like easier stuff and maybe more action and tension.
many of them and maybe i myself think that it is stupid to learn the info dump because we don't need it in real life at all.

simply to say, you only need watch something you like and enjoy.

It's really only here that it seems like that big a deal but yeah I pretty much agree it's just kind of like your typical fantasy harem LN that gets a good budget and studio that tries their hardest to make the most of it. I feel like there's been a show just like it every season for a while now, particularly with the game and wish fulfillment twist and I've yet to see anything that really sets it apart since the game mechanic aspect isn't even particularly interestingly executed nor is the strategy aspect. Anyway I think there's a misunderstanding on MAL that because the site is hyping it up through the stratosphere every week seemingly for the lulz that it's the same in Japan.

Hyped in the west or not,the hype in JP from some shows certainly ended up in disappointment if you look at the sales projections. Particularly mekaku, mahouka and haikyuu. Mekaku and haikyuu might have strong storefronts but we'll see. Maybe, just maybe, the tax increase in one factor.

SAO2 will be taking the nisekoi/monogatari commentaries 23:30 timeslot. Do we know what will aniplex will put on the 24:00 slot/hegemony slot as termed by 2ch?
Mahouka is on 24:30 timeslot with a 2-cour so is there a possibility it will be moved to 24?

Free2 or Grisaisa or Tokyo ESP? or Persona4GA?

2ch is shocked. Everyone is expecting SAO to air on 12mn saturday. That is the best possible timeslot for an anime according to them. Is Tokyo ESP even an aniplex show? I'd go with Persona 4g or they can extend Mekaku City.

Haikyuu looks to be doing close to Kuroko sales, which is what I expected. I wouldn't call it a sales disappointment in any way.

And regarding the Aniplex timeslot, I just assumed it would be Persona 4 Golden paired along with Sword Art Online.

You clearly were bothered because you even quoted me. A reminder that haikyuu isn't even out yet, so there's still no disappointing sales yet. It is all just speculations.
You remind me of symbv and jmal. So stuck up.

Jmal I get but I've never understood why symbv had that reputation too. Personally I don't know why he had to respond to you or even me like that but that's just the way some people are. A simple response like Cedronias more than suffices and yeah my understanding is that Ha ikyuu! has been quite the success. Actually one of my favorites this season too even if Ping Pong has pulled a little ahead on the sports front. What a great little hidden gem that one's turning out to be.

I hope it doesn't drop that bad as some other shows with event tickets on the first/second volumes.
