I'm an IT development PM, and I'd like to see some release notes or a VDD, but believe me, getting the developers sometimes to give you direct answers can be a downright chore. |

| In the end, we've decided to implement a whitelist. This means that, once the changes are pushed live, the domain the image you are trying to embed within the [img] tag must be on our list of approved hosts. This will also apply to profiles and club info sections, which up until now have still worked normally. Users will be able to request their private websites to be added to the whitelist, but will need to meet specific requirements. This criteria was designed while considering an active user of the site who might be interested in using images hosted on their private webspace. Users that do not meet this criteria will need to use standard hosting services. Thus, general-use image hosts can be requested by all users. To note, the implementation of the whitelist is not necessarily for stopping gore posts; the real motivation is stopping the plishing attacks perpetuated by the hacker at the end of August. The bad news: Unfortunately, I was notified this morning that the changes will likely not be pushed until next week. This is why I usually don't say anything until after changes are live. The good news: We've decided to open the Whitelist Request Thread now anyway to try and facilitate a smoother transition. I don't want to make a general announcement about this yet because I think it will be confusing until the changes are actually live. |

I would like to quote myself: amcsi said: I actually tested and this so-called HTTP Auth Injection only comes up if the img src points to the same domain as page. If the url is external, the http auth dialog does not pop up. EDIT: according to the article this vulnerability only affects old versions of IE. The question now is, how old?
