Lol, there's a random sleeping boy in the van. And thus Kiriko was introduced!
Kiriko belongs to the land of the dead, Ortus, where over a million dead people reside.
Although, there are some living people like Pox and Rex, who are weird.
Lol, Scar really wants to kill the dead people.
And Ai just ran off. She meets a lion though.
Hmm, Ulla is the Princess of the Dead. I wonder what's her dark side.
I’m always searching for something, for someone. This feeling has possessed me I think, from that day… That day when the stars came falling.
I felt like I missed something between this episode and the last. So now they're a friendly team of buddies on an adventure to suit the wishes of a random child that they had only just met the other day? I mean, okay... but how, and why?
A huge mood change from the last episode. I personally would have liked it to have been more smooth. Though, this may be a sign of Ai's development. The sense of purpose is strong.
That's a cool fucking city. Beautiful architecture, very colorful, masked undead walking around, it's really interesting. I understand Ai's excitement about wanting to see the city, but she's being too casual and carefree, even after being explained the terrible consequences if they discover her identity. I hope her carelessness doesn't get Scar or Julie killed.
This Ai chick is a annoying & dumb MC! She was told, don't go outside. What does she do? She ducking goes outside and some one discovers her/what she is? I really hate dumb af MC's and she's one bright cookie this one.....
Oh and I see that anime has being pushing certain agendas for quite a while now. That tranny/freak thinggy at the gate. But you also see how old this anime is by the fact on how Kiriko addresses the freak by he/him and "they" like it would happen now a days. What a sick joke.
On a roadtrip around the world for some reason. Perhaps it will give Ai a chance to learn more about how life, death and the gravekeepers really operate. It's certainly risky to let her and Scar into a city of the dead that is infamous for killing gravekeepers though, especially since her only reason for wanting to enter was curiosity.
On another note, Ortus is a beautiful city, especially during the night. The mystical purple skies, vast azure moon looming overhead, masquerade masks, clean medieval streets and festivals bestow a radically different feel to it than most high fantasy settlements I've seen in anime.
The gatekeeper with a body split between two different people makes me think Ortus is a play on "Orthrus" (or "Orthus"), which was a mythological two-headed dog. Might be a bit of a stretch, but it does sound similar.
