Ai Mai Mii DVD has about 1.2k on Stalker. So you'd expect it to rank at least once. However it is ranked below Shirokuma Cafe, which usually sells 900 or so. So it may not actually sell that much, unless Shirokuma Cafe sells more than expected. Maybe another day of ranks is in order to determine how much it could possibly sell? Nice to see you part of the News Team though! |

^ Yeah, Shirokuma Cafe ranking above Ai Mai Mii is another surprise. I guess I never expect Ai Mai Mii can really sell that many (i.e. >1k) while Mangirl is heading below 1k. So you noticed ;-) You will surely see me spending more time in the News Board from now on :-) |

It also baffles me that Mangirl! has a lot more content than Ai Mai Mii on its BD and is not selling as well. That's good. You've been very helpful all around the forum and have provided great information and insight into various topics. Really, well deserved :) |

Really, well deserved :) Mangirl and Yama no Susume are both expensive compared to Teekyuu, also from Earthstar, which probably hurts Mangirl more as it doesn't have the watercolor mountain scenery of Yama no Susume. I have ordered both anyways but compared to stuff with much lower production value like Osaka Okan and Wooser, and Teekyuu ... Both Mangirl and Yama look expensive for the actual 30 minutes of episode content you get and might have sold better at ¥4000. Yama feels like a full length show which saves it but Mangirl feels like what it is, a funny short. |

^ Key observations; - Clearly Love Live is strong in shopfront as most shops deliver their orders on the official release date. Now it may just beat Horizon2 when the full week's data come in. - On the other hand, we can see GalPan is more skewed towards internet retail channel as online retailers usually try to send their orders a bit earlier. - Nanoha and UC Gundam are showing very strong performance on the official release date too. - Chu2byo is showing really robust strength, rising in rank on its FOURTH day. - VERY intriguing to see Busou Shinki actually made into the chart THREE days into its release week (it was actually released on Mar 20th but sales data start from 19th). Amazing. - |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? I had it pinned at minimum 15k because of how underestimated Little Busters! ended up being. Love Live! is actually doing pretty well on Amazon JP as of lately... but there's the danger of sales being significantly lower from v2 onwards since v1 only had 1ep and is cheaper than the other volumes. Hopefully not! Do you think there will be a shortage of 1st week sales this time around for GaruPan v3? The restock is now 21 days compared to the 6 days that GaruPan v2 initially had. Maybe Amazon JP is being a lot more cautious this time around... |

Update with Saturday's data Key points: - For the BD, the top six stay exactly where they were the day before, which means LoveLive is still above Horizon2, and Nanoha SLE and UC Gundam as strong as ever (although Nanoha LE and RE have fallen). - In the BD chart, Kurobas rises and Nanoha dropped below Kurobas. Chu2byo also rises to overtake Psycho-Pass. - A new entry in the DVD chart: the short anime for the Gachaman franchise. I've been predicting ~15k as well, however it has been doing a bit better (IMO based on the daily rankings) than Little Busters! did at Gamers and softmap... and even ranking a few times on the Animate Top 10. It's still doing very strongly at Amazon as well, where the Stalker prediction of 10.6k doesn't account for the release week sales any more. |

Stalker used to account for release week sales by accumulating points for 1 week after release day. This however allowed some titles such as Tari Tari, end up extremely overestimated due to its strong Amazon ranking during release week. I guess it's kind of hard for Stalker to accommodate all scenarios... but it's doing quite a good job for predicting 1st week sales nevertheless. The ones which are particularly skewed towards Amazon or storefront, seem to be the most deviated no matter what algorithm Stalker uses. I have heard that Stalker slightly reduces the daily accumulated points towards the cumulative points for titles that get particularly popular to reduce overestimation... but i'm not sure if it still occurs. |

But I would be right if sale is 17,300 because I chose a shorter range and therefore, I'm more accurate. That said, I really hope it goes beyond 20k. But we need to remember that this is a short week for Love Live! since it was released two days later than some other stuffs Also, any comment on the timing? I personally think this is the best time to release. With the series ending, any lack of recognition before is now gone. People realize how good the show is, not just some kind of Idolm@aster clone. Episode 12 just aired so it will squeeze in some last-minute decisions based on the new-found drama as well. If I were hesitated before, I would certainly buy it now to support Honoka-chan :) |

Whatever impact this episode has for the sales of the series, it will not be reflected in vol.1 sales. Also, any comment on the timing? I personally think this is the best time to release. With the series ending, any lack of recognition before is now gone. People realize how good the show is, not just some kind of Idolm@aster clone. Episode 12 just aired so it will squeeze in some last-minute decision based on the new-found drama as well. If I were hesitated before, I would certainly buy it now to support Honoka-chan :) |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

In fact I thought about guessing 14k-19k but at the last moment I turned conservative and wrote 13k-18k. I have a feeling I will regret my conservatism... :-)Meaning you are giving 1k for your "wiggle room." That's a definition of fuzzy math if I ever see one ;) Heart or brain....decision....decision I believe my heart but I follow my brain. 17k it is. Because this is for the bragging right, I will be vigilant about the numbers, so watch out :D sybmv said: Well, it was released before the bombshell of ep.12 was aired. I just came back from reading the Japanese forums, and boy the discussions and debates about Love Live exploded. Whatever impact this episode has for the sales of the series, it will not be reflected in vol.1 sales. I have some thoughts on on the cliffhanger as well. But I will put them in the Love Live! forum later today :) |
