Basically, since the BBC stuff interacts directly with specific code executed commands on the server that has access to databases, if you put your own code commands within the parameters where you'd normally just be putting text, you can get the code on the site to accidentally execute a command it wasn't supposed to. It's a very common hacking trick. If you wanna learn more, just google it (don't wanna broadcast specific examples here). This is why it's really important on any website that has forms and is posting data to the server to have very robust methods of checking and cleaning incoming data, but it can be tricky to do and cover all of your bases. |
