I think my first ever experience was watching metropolis when I younger. then in my preteen years I found Neon Genesis Evangelion and then found a website with Air tv (later found Metropolis again) and have been hooked ever since.

NGE, Air tv, and Metropolis still remain my favorite animes to this day.

Well I'm pretty sure it started with Toonami back in the day when it first started airing in 97, I used to come home from school everyday and watch Sailor Moon, ReBoot, DBZ, Tenchi & Wing.

But it wasn't till I was randomly dragged to see Princess Mononoke in theaters that I started to realize what anime really was. Then I got into Limewire and found NGE, Excel Saga & Love Hina were the first shows I watch knowing what anime was, mainly cause they were all subbed.

From that point on I was hooked, although I did stop my fanatical watching of shows for a few years around 2006 to 2009 but then I found Hulu with all it's free online streaming and I was like OMG this is sooooo much better then having to torrent everything. I've been re-addicted ever since.

My best friend has been otaku for years, she was always talking about anime and it started to bother me, since I had no clue what the hell she's talking about. But then she showed me her new bag with Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji on it and I was like - hey.. who's that hot guy? I should consider watching anime, if there's more cute guys like him. Well you could say that my first impulse to watch anime was quite shallow, Kuroshitsuji wasn't my first anime though. It was Death Note. Its brilliant plot and tension made it for me one of the best series I've seen so far and I started to want more.

i started a conversation with a couple friends about how i spend my whole day watching cartoons, and then they started talking about a ton of shows I'd never heard of. Welcome to anime. Couldn't believe I spent my childhood not watching some of this stuff.

When I was really young, probably 3 or 4, I was really into Pokemon on TV. I'm pretty sure it was before kindergarten (and I still am into it, hahaha). Around that time I was watching Digimon, Beyblade, Cardcaptor Sakura, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Sailor Moon (probably a few more, can't remember atm) all on TV when I was in / before kindergarten until about first or second grade when they all went off air here.

And then when I was about 8/9 years old around third or fourth grade, anime like FMA, Naruto, InuYasha, Bleach, One Piece, Eureka Seven, Death Note, etc. (mainly popular ones) started airing on a channel we got and I watched them whenever they came on religiously each week. That's what made me love it. I definitely had a few hiatuses here and there, getting back into it every couple years or something, but I got *really* back into it very recently, about a year ago or so after about two years of forgetting about it. I love anime so ridiculously much now and I'm glad I got back into it. I seem to take a lot of breaks and then get addicted to it all over again very often, though.

Actually, I had been watching Ranma 1/2 since I was pretty young, around 8 or so, and re-watching some DVD's of it about a year ago made me get back into it more than ever. Now I watch anime everyday.

Roughly a year and a half ago, I recently discovered how the piano appealed to me very greatly. A friend of mine held the same interest, and he sent me a video whose audio consisted of a piano piece bearing the most peculiar name - "Bink's Sake." Soon thereafter, I learned that it was an instrumental version of a song from a certain show...a Japanese one.

I decided to listen to this Japanese song. Surprisingly, although not understanding a single word, I found its rhythm to be very "catchy" to the eventual point that I would hum its tune. Because of this, I chose to watch the show [apparently called an "anime"] where the song came from - with an initial intent of just wanting to hear said song being played. The full extent of that song came 379 episodes after the first episode.

By that point, I was both evidently and completely submerged in anime culture.

My dad bought a Norwegian comic that had the first volume of the Love Hina manga with it as a plus. Started reading it, found out there was a TV show about it. Watched it, found out it was called anime, watched more of this so called anime. Loved it, though I must say my taste has changed somewhat over the years.

So I guess you can kind of say my dad got me into anime.

When I was younger I was a massive DBZ fanboy. I was aware that it was anime but I didn't like anime as a whole because of terrible shows like Naruto, 4kids One Piece and Yu-Gi-Oh GX. I loved the weirdness of Japanese culture but shows like Naruto had none of that charm. The show was so obvious with it's approach that even me, a gullible 9 year old, could tell how unoriginal the show was. Plus they were all just so damn boring

Last year in November, an Australian games magazine had a special Japan issue. With it they had an anime preview disc with the first episode of a few shows. First I watched Highschool of the Dead. Even when I wasn't into anime, I had heard of Ikkitousen from that same magazine so I wasn't shocked by the fanservice. But the show was just so bad that I could not find any enjoyment in watching it. Plus the dubbing was awful

Next I watched Rideback. That was boring. Then Black Butler. Too weird. That's when I found K-On. When I saw Yui playing her Les Paul in the opening I immediately wanted to see more. I'm a huge fan of classic rock music so I was amazed to see Slash's guitar faithfully recreated. Plus I love comedy so I wasn't too bothered by the conspicuous absence of the aforementioned music. But the part that really sold me was the end credits song 'Don't Say Lazy'. K-On then led me to Haruhi Suzumiya. Which led me to Lucky Star. Which led me into the wonderful world of anime.

When I was young i had a VCR so watched the all disney classics! Esp. Beauty and The Beast, which was my favourite I used to want to be Belle. In fact waiting for the next Disney, not anime to come out was my life back then. I came home from primary school and watched non-anime like Gargoyles, TMNT, She-ra, My Little Pony, Animals of Farthing Wood, Red Wall etc... and when I went to visit my younger cuz, she had the disney channel and all the other anime/cartoon channels did I watch Pokemon/Digimon/Monster Rancher etc... Then quit watching for ages, till I joined MAL to keep track of all the anime I had started to watch again - started back with Hakushaku to Yosei. :D

My dad used to live in Japan in the 80's and my neighbors also used to live in Japan. They mostly really got me into anime with stuff like Gundam Seed, Ghost in the Shell and Full Metal Alchemist. Before I really knew what anime was though, I was still watching stuff like Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball, Sailormoon and Escaflowne.

Loved watching Rurouni Kenshin on Toonami, when they stopped playing bought the DVD's, started looking more into anime after that when I realized Miyazaki's films were also anime and was just like zomg. When I did a little research (wasn't exactly the best at working the internet back then) I found out I could watch things like Naruto on youtube... here I am like 7 years later (still sour about google buying youtube btw) now hopelessly lost in manga and anime.

I started watching Wedding Peach, when I was 5 yeard old.
And then more and more Anime where broadcasted in my country (well actually they where broadcasted in my neighbouring country, but since we speak a very similar language [most people even think we do speak the same language, but that's not true] I could also watch it).
The Anime on TV became more and more but suddenly it stopped and they didn't braodcast any Anime anymore. So I started watching them on the Internet.

My descent into anime stuffs began during my childhood in mid-90's. My favorite show at that time was Sailormoon. I descended even further with Cardcaptor Sakura at 1999, and eventually truly got myself into anime with Neon Genesis Evangelion at 2006.

When I started lower secondary school here in Norway I got some friend who watched this show called Naruto. And I was like "Wtf is this shit", so I began watching it with a program called VEOH (We didn't know what torrent was, and stream had bad quality) and I just watched it.

When sasuke and naruto fought on the water (ep 133 - 134) I was like "Oh SHI-!". I couldn't remember any names and the language was awkward. But it was fascinating, and Naruto became the best ever.

When I found out there was more animes like One piece, and then later Hajime No Ippo which hooked me for good, Naruto became shit though.

When I was a kid I watched Kimba the White Lion, Pokemon and Digimon on TV, but I didn't know they were anime as such. Then during my first year at uni I was bored one night and stumbled across this random Naruto Shippuuden clip on Youtube, the bit when Naruto goes into crazy four-tail mode and fights Orochimaru. I thought "Wow, this looks good!", so I proceeded to check out Naruto. But of course like most anime fans I soon realised there is more to anime than generic shounen like Naruto, but I'll always remember the early days when it got me into anime.

I think my journey with anime was pretty good. I started with dubbed things on British television, Cardcaptors and Dragonball Z which I adored, then some Big O and Escaflowne got shown which I loved but they were cancelled before I could watch them through. Until 10 years later the past 6 months and I've finished them both.

I managed to watch streaming Ouran/Loveless/Strawberry Panic and read a lot of manga which I did because I enjoyed drawing...

I quit anime and manga when I was around 15 to be less nerdy and more 'normal'. Even though I enjoyed it, it just disappated. At my absolute depressed low at university, I decided to finally watch the end of Big O, and a few months later I've watched series upon series, enjoying it all so much. It's been great tbh.

Hmm.. "into it".. I think my first anime was Ninja Scroll. Then my friend got some more on VHS like Akira and Ghost in the Shell. It didn't felt like i was getting into something. It was just something special to watch.

I skipped a couple "mainstream" years that swamped our national TV and it was for the better. Many kids got all hyped up about it, but i never really cared. In the end i learned that many, if not all, of those shows where censored anyway, with dialog changed among other sins.

Not too long ago a friend was wondering why i am not watching Anime, given that i like Asian cinema so much. I said i don't really know and so he recommended Bleach. It was a good show to boot and after completing it i wanted more. So i started to make my own research and the rest is history.

Guess i got "into it" after all. :D
