I finally got the chance to see Battle Royale with it being on Netflix. I definitely enjoyed the action, but I didn't feel particularly bothered with any of the deaths since we don't get much of a background on a majority of the characters as opposed to the manga. I'm hoping to pick up the novel at some point.

Hardware: Bizarre indie post-apocalyptic story of a killer robot. Makes very little sense. Nothing remarkable except Dylan's awesomeness. (5/10)
Tangled: Starts promising but ends up stupid. Unlikeable characters, uninteresting story. Ultimately forgettable and lacking of strenght. (5/10)
The Woman: Disgusting feast of misogynist violence that wants to be artistic and deep. Gratuitous, pathetic, absurd and poorly made. (3/10)

+ rewatched Resident Evil: Extinction (10/10) & Resident Evil: Afterlife (7/10).

Watched this one too. An 8 out of 10 from me. I actually quite liked the guy you hated :) Anyway, I look forward to a sequel.
Sure thing, the movie's ending would be crap if they weren't making a sequel.

Last night I tried to watch the live-action Initial D on Netflix, but it's dubbed. Nope/10.

Before that was The Death and Life of Bobby Z. An OK movie about a criminal used by a crooked cop in an assassination plot who eventually becomes the guy he's supposed to fill in for. 6.5/10.

Then there was God Bless America, a black comedy about a middle-aged guy and a teenage girl who travel the country killing useless celebrities and other undesirables. 8/10.

It was in English.
Dubbing animation is OK because the mouth movements are vague enough to work.
Not exactly the case with real people.

Desperation: Supernatural horror based on Stephen King's story. Pretty good and enjoyable for a TV movie. Story was weird and intriguing enough, and technically-wise, everything worked fine. I also appreciated the cast. Unfortunately, it was too heavy on the religious part, and overall had some limits, but I still liked it. (7/10)
The Tommyknockers: Another TV adaptation of a novel by Stephen King. A very boring and slow-paced sci-fi flick, neither remarkable, interesting or well-done. (5/10)
Steel Trap: Random German slasher, following the premise (and mediocrity) of Saw. Loathsome characters, you root for the killer, final twist, etc. Actors and general progression also sucked. (5/10)

Resident Evil: Retribution
As the ones before, it didn't make any sense. The whole movie series thing is just a trainwreck and the actions scences and special effects are not enough to save it. They throw a buch of references to the games to please the fans at least. The good thing is that it seems the next one is the last.

Resident Evil - Retribution: I don't know if I'm more disappointed or angered with this pathetic excuse of a sequel. Brainless action, zero character development, cheesy dialogue, plot holes everywhere: only videogame fanatics could enjoy this crap. The acting, on the opposite of the previous movies, was horrible and wooden: all the characters, both the new and old ones, acted like fake, generic, unrealistic videogame persona, to the point you don't care about what happens to them. Umbrella cloned everyone, Claire & Chris disappeared, and Wesker now cares about the future of humanity? I don't know what was Anderson thinking (or, since it seems he's sticking to the latest games, what was Capcom thinking). The story is literally non-existent: the whole movie develops as a typical videogame, with different levels, locations, enemies and all. Everything was mindlessly recycled and thrown together: characters, villains, music, entire sequences. A mediocre flick from start to finish, lazy, shallow, flat, dull, never interesting or compelling, not even visually. Easily the worst of the saga: makes Afterlife look like a masterpiece. (5/10)

The Cabin In The Woods: How on Earth is this stupid shit so popular, I wonder? Given the minds behind it (talentless Drew Goddard and wasted Joss Whedon), I had my doubts, but it was worse than expected. Characters, actors, plot, ending, motives: all about it is mediocre, laughable and senseless. Worst kind of bad movie: the type that thinks "I'm so cool and original, someone will surely praise me". It ended up more like a comedic failure, as well as a ripoff of a much greater story (Midnight Meat Train, duh). Feeble, ineffectual, second-rate movie. (5/10)

It's October so it's time for some horror movies.

Arachnophobia 6/10 - it could have been much better if not for some scenes during the last 10 or so minutes.

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning 5/10 - I quite enjoy this series but this was the least fun part so far, the death weren't creative at all and the cast of characters were very dull, not as colorful as in the previous 4 parts.

Halloween III: Season of the Witch 5/10 - I can see why fans of the franchise don't like it, for me it was pretty ok, even if it was not scary at all.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter 6/10 - how they could film this with a straight face is beyond me lol, anyway it was a decent film, with some good over the top action. That some found the portrayal of "the greatest American" to be very offensive is even funnier that anything that happened in this movie and there were plenty of hilarious scenes in it.
