| Hey I'm Geil Rugner from Germany, named after a side character from the Suikoden games. His name is mentioned in Suikoden 1 and I think this was the game that actually sparked my interest in Japan many many years ago. I still think it's immensely funny how the Japanese always try to come up with German sounding names (also in Suikoden: Schtolteheim Reinbach) but as a child I had no idea that there is something like Anime. Of course I already knew what Anime was due to Japanese games like Suikoden or Grandia but I wasn't aware of it at the time. So I guess unmei took its course ;) Today I'm attending Japanese classes at my university where they have natives as teachers for almost every language. I'm interested in the differences between Japanese and Western horror (curses vs. chainsaws, basically) so I'm constantly searching for new Psychological/Horror/Thriller Anime - which is why I joined this group :) |
| Cool, welcome to the club GeilRugner! For a good psyc/horror/mystery I'd suggest Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. I think it was better than the first. There's also Mouryou no Hako, judging from your description, I think you'll really like this one. This show's a trip... |

| Thanks :) I've already watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Kai, and Umineko. Higurashi was really disturbing, there was this one part where I just watched the first episode of Mouryou no Hako, and I got this eerie feeling that I already watched it years ago. However, the only thing I really remember is the girl's mother, and the sleazebag with the dolls. The strange thing is that I document all the Anime I've watched in a txt file but it's not there. I'm not trying to start a mystery here :D I'm just confused. Seras, Monster was really good and I'll watch the others in due time. valaurelius, yes Grandia is great. I remember being in love with Feena when I was like 12^^ |

| A couple of things....nothing big, just keep them in mind. 1) when talking about an anime (and not saying something completely obvious) please use a spoiler tag :-) 2) you'll get better recommendations (and fewer re-recommendations) if you keep your list updated on MAL since we can't see your .txt file. Hahaha, the beginning of the show is purposefully generic so that the rest of the show can blow your mind without warning :-D |
