heyy stop spoiling lol XD i think it depends more on your definition of a happy ending though e.g. lelouch dying to save the world can be considered happy and sad

Yes i completely agree, there is soo much fanservice in this episode, girls don't have butts so they need to be censored, the girls faces are also too pretty they need to be censored and asuna's skirt is also indecent she needs to wear pants or at least have them censored

If they think SAO is bad, what about Campione! ???

Happy ending. If they continue to a second season, the happy ending will turn out to be a sad ending. But it will end in a new happy ending too.

Also, to the posters above me: Lelouch is alive! :) Or maybe not? Who knows.

ive read the LN so believe me when i say that campione just failed at the adaptation, they tried doing it in chronological order like SAO and ended up ruining the story because of it, i don't know how its even possible to take a wonderful LN such as campione and proceed to fail in more ways than one

Sometimes a chronological is not that great... Take Haruhi, the adaptation jumbled the order even more than the novel did and that became one of it's strong points, imo at least.

Still, I'm not too confident to make a judgement here this early. It will be clearer if the animators' decision was good or bad once the season ends.

No, no, I just mentioned he's alive because of the whole Lelouch: dead or alive? thread that was going on for weeks after the show ended. Fun discussion while it lasted :) But let's not go there anymore, the show ended, it was epic, looking forward to seeing what happens in spin-off that's coming out soon.

I feel that if they incorporated these sides stories as flash back while going through Volume 1, then it would have been less messy as this adaptation. Lets just say this adaptation makes as much sense as if they were to just start from the transition from Interlude I to Underworld (still do not know what is going on there haha).

chp 1-4 Episode 1;
chp 5-6 , Aria (about 1.5 episode for aria, ep 2-3);
chp 7-12 (ep 4-5);
chp 13-14 then Reindeer (might have given them +5mins for reindeer, ep 6-7);
chp 15-16.5 (=D ep 8);
chp 17-18 (ep 9)
Dew Girl, chp 19 (1.5, 0.5 split; ep 10-11);
chp 20-25 (Ep 12-13) Finish Vol 1

That should about do it for my vision of how it should have been adapted, I had another one before anime started airing. Black Swordsman, Warmth of the Heart, and A Murder Case in the Area could easily be OVAs. These are only there to explain mechanics of PKing and crafting. This way may look more annoying with all the flash backs but it gives them more of a meaning rather then just being standalone as they are currently being shown. That might have been the saving grace of Reindeer being only one episode. If they really wanted A Murder Case in the Area would have been better to place it during floor 22 since the dueling mechanic would have been explained by then.

They could just replace Aria for something else, but I believe it was written specifically for the anime. Dew girl could be cut to one episode since I could imagine it happening in one being as rush as reindeer.

The way it is being adapted currently I can see some major hits to Volume 1 which is probably a really bad idea. Unless they bleed into the second season since Vol 3-4 should not take too long, once the main story starts. If they kept it strictly to Vol 1 and 2 something could have been done to make all of this a lot more smooth plot-wise. Both Vol 1 and 2 alone have 352 pgs each while Vol 3 and 4 around 310 each (Source: I have all novels except 10 and MEs). The addition of Aria and A Murder Case in the Area is a bit much to juggle into a 12-13 episodes.

TL;DR Should have kept the first season strictly to Volume 1 and 2 in flash back format or keep everything and bleed into second season since Volume 3 and 4 should not take too long...

Not that I hate how this is going, except reindeer, but when I am watching I just keep thinking if this would make sense if I didn't read the LNs. There has been many times I am like this is great because I have more information thanks to the LN; however, I also look at it from the non-LN perspective it looks like a mess. Lets see how his character looks from ep 1-5: ep 1-2 builds the solo mentality, ep 3 instantly destroys it without reason, followed by going emo/berserk, to depression, then ep 4 as reliable badass older borther, and to a laid back person (ep5). It just shows large inconsistency with characters mainly Kirito and Asuna. As I have been reading around it seems that to be the case.

Getting back on-topic...

As for this episode, didn't have ramen scene instant rate 1. Joking. Pacing was fine, cuts and inconsistency were fine. Thought the Monument of Life scene would have been important enough to be shown, guess not. I could go around and poke at all the inconsistency but they are so minor that it would just be as bad as if I just started complaining how the interface was not purple.

As an mmo player the story touches home, even though I barely went around and hunt for rares in a group(read solo player) when I did boy was there drama to be had. Actually had a friend who disliked a random in a party for a dungeon run. Basically stole the loot and broke it down for mats in front of the guy just to spite him. I have seen guilds break up over corruption for how loot is distributed and hold grudges so this arc does portray that aspect. Whoever says this episode is a waste to the whole mmo setup it really is not, virtual items serious business. Besides the main reason Kirito and Asuna care because of an unknown pk method.

Also notice some confusion from some people.

Basically small guild found rare item, had a vote to sell, results 5/8 were for selling. The 3 people against selling were Kains, Yoruko, and Schmitt, all of whom we have seen. Guild leader dies in an unknown fashion. Schmitt joins clearing guild DDA. Grimlock was the guild leader's husband and the one who made the "spear (lol looks like sword)" not the owner of the spear. The culprit is still not known.

Those are just the facts from anime only.

Sigh as I try to proofread I just keep adding things and I want keep everything near perfect so I keep adding information to back up the info I just added. That just continue until I have one large wall of text. I can keep going too... I might even read over this 5 more times adding or removing small things after I write this small section. Reason why I do not like posting too often I just get out of hand and just continue to perfect the post. Started this like 5 hrs ago with only 2 short paragraphs...

This will be my last comment on the subject because I'm too much of a coward to get further into it (plot-hole induced illness is not pleasant).

The story of Code Geass did not "end in mystery"....it crashed and burned.

There's a difference between a writing team that leaves endings open to interpretation (genius)...

...and a writing team that can't salvage a train wreck of its own making (stupidity).

SAO just turned into a murder mystery game.
I overlooked whatever fanservice seemed to be there but I'm bothered by this one question...
How did Kirito get reacquainted with Asuna? The episode began right off the bat with Asuna bossing around and lo, Kirito was present there as well. There was no flashback or anything to explain how the two met again.
I'm now beginning to have doubts if this is really the 'best' anime of this season (not like the others out there are any better except maybe two or three series).

Oh but there is a ton of fanservice in F/Z.

If you are talking about the other type of fanservice... well lets just say Kotomine's existence is fanservice.

The misconception is that ecchi and fanservice can be used interchangeably when ecchi is just a subset of fanservice.

As a child, I was told that society is a melting pot of talents; knowledge and experience combined to form important alloys that will contribute to mankind. When I got to highschool, however, I thought that it's more like a river in which the water represents our peers while we ourselves are the stones in the river. Constant erosion by mindless majority sheeping has made us lose our unique edge. After I hit the age of 18, I realized that I've been wrong all along. Society is no melting pot. Society is no river. Society is a person, a very skilled rapist, and he has fucked us all.
