Great to see May'n's newest single topping it off at #7 in the Oricon charts! But at the same time, it's kind of a shock to not see "unfinished" in the charts. Maybe Kotoko's single isn't out yet? In any case, it's nice too see a lot of Anime Theme songs making a presence in the Charts!

And Mouretsu pirates...I'm one of those people struggling to see the greatness in that anime. Granted it doesn't rely on fan-service to keep the plot engaging, but I think the show has a tough time distinguishing itself and can't seem to decide whether it wants to be a full action-anime or just slice-of-life.
And trying to balance between the two genres just makes the progression that much more frustrating.

I guess that means no second season for Papa no Iukoto :( I can always hope I guess.

Goes to show discounted vol 1's of BDs don't equal good sales, even worse news AKB0048 has a discounted vol 1, I believe it's 2100 yen for vol 1.

Don't see the problem there. The thing is how popular show would be, not the diversion of episodes on BDs and their price.

But I wonder why AKB0048 started so late if it would be 13 eps?

The problem is that its projected to hit like 8k copies at half price.... and the AKB48 fanbase is hardcore that likely would have paid the normal price, regardless. So they've essentially lost a lot of money by giving it a lower price point.

And AKB0048 being 13 episodes probably just means some show next season will only be like 9 episodes.

Is Horizon that good to get 20k sales? o_O

It has good action, complicated plot and setting and awesome characters but a lot of people dropped it because of one of reasons:

1) To complicated seting. Most of people just get WTF effect first couple of episodes and didn't get it
2) A lot of girls with big boobs on the poster. Some people just think that the show is another ecchi harem
Is it not? (Not trolling here. I'm one of those people you mention in 2) and I'm now quite curious as to whether I should try it out.)

@Dusk252

Protag has a crush only on main heroine and only one other girl has a crush on him.

And there are some perverted moments such as boobs groping(in clothes) or boobs bouncing but almost no real ecchi.

@jmal

Too bad. I actually like this show. At least it's much better than Symphogear. Looks like mix of THe Idolmaster and Macross Frontier which were both quite enjoyable for me

But that's just nitpicking in my opinion. If Ai Yori Aoshi gets called a harem (and Kaoru is absolutely only in love with Aoi, there is no question from the beginning to the end) then Horizon deserves the same. As long as harem just means 'there are a lot of girls surrounding the male protagonist' then that label should stick.

well if that's the case, at least until episode 13 of the 1st season

there was no girl actually chasing toori or showing any affection to him (other than her 'brocon' sister)

and by the end of the first season, he already got a partner

besides some girls around him already had partners as well

I don't think his sister has a brother complex. But blind girl has a one-sided crush on him

>besides some girls around him already had partners as well

Yeah. There are even one yuri pair

The sales aren't even that good. You're looking at the rankings but they really don't matter.

When someone says "harem anime", certain expectations come with it. Using "harem" to describe a show with one clear, canonical, immediately established romantic pairing, and in which secondary female characters' feelings are very slight and not focused upon, is to render "harem" less than useful as an indicator of content.

So you are in agreement then that Ai Yori Aoshi is not a harem? Because it is tagged as one here on MAL. I'll only stop calling Horizon a harem when the term becomes much more specific in which the male protagonist has more than two love interests, not simply a man surrounded by girls. But I don't see that happening. Love Hina was always referred to as a harem anime, despite Keitaro only ever having feelings for Naru. When people think harem, they should think Tenchi, not Love Hina. But again, I don't see that happening. As long as there are a bunch of girls around the male protagonist, it'll be called a harem.

>This is something necessary to a harem anime, but it only defines the gender make-up of the cast. There has to be a second part to the definition addressing actual story content: a central focus on multiple credible romantic prospects, overt flirting/wooing from multiple potential partners, etc.

Unfortunately a lot of people(especially girls) think that part "one male protag and a lot of females" is enough to call any anime harem

Glad Natsume Yuujinchou Shi is up there. Hopefully there will be a 5th season when there's enough chapters out.
