It's called Kanashiki Yume no Maki. It was on the Suou CD that came with the BD vol 3.

This was.... weird xD
I wanted to give it 9 just bcs of Hei, but I just can't >.< The story was strange, everything was made quickly, and it would be waaay better if they made 24 episode season.. like this i don't like the ending-.-
i just agree to almost everything LeaT said...

Do you know what I missed? Two-episode contractor-of-the-day filler arcs that ended up tying into the main storyline. This was just BAM-BAM-BAM 12 episodes in a row.

Well... this was... confusing to say the very least. They could have used this "2nd Season" to unravel the mysteries of the gates, but instead they made more crappy government conspiracy stuff that didn't even make sense.

They didn't explain anything if you think about it. Still, it was entertaining enough. Bones didn't fail as much as KyoAni when they made the infamous "Haruhi's Endless Eight", that is for sure.

Anyway, 8/10 for me.

I prefer Gaiden as well, im glad i could watch it before watching this one but the entire Suou arc should just never have happened. there were so many loose ends after gaiden with hei and yin alone. they could have done so much with it.

I haven't watched all of the episodes yet, but all these posts prompted me to actually skip to the end of episode 12. I ended up watching the 4 ovas before this second season so in my opinion, Hei did not really kill Yin(the ovas stressed that he wanted to save her when she was captured at the end), so killing her would make his actions seem pretty contradictory from what was fleshed out in the ova. The body Hei was carrying could most likely be unconscious, not dead. But since the ending was so vague, it could either way. If there is no season 3, I guess its up to the viewer to decide what really happens to Yin, Hei might have actually killed her, or he might have saved her instead. More thoughts will be posted when I finish it for real.

Ok I just finished marathoning the last few episodes and in all its not that bad and not that good either. I understood the ending clearly but it seemed really stupid that Suou undergoes so much and getting pissed off about being fabricated just to end up in a fabricated world, too Deus Ex Machina for me. Also after watching the whole thing, I really don't think Hei really "killed" Yin. He most likely killed the Izanami half of Yin, but kept the real Yin alive in the process. Not a bad sequel, it was just too rushed.

7/10

Since Gemini doesn't explain the origin of Hell's Gate and all, I don't think it's a necessary sequel(since season 1 wraps up decently), sticking to only season 1 is good enough. Gemini feels like Gundam Seed Destiny, unnecessary, only its actually better and not a crap rehash.

*Note, from reading the translated director interview on post 342, the director seems to state that he thinks Yin is technically dead, but he left it open for us viewers to decide ourselves.

It's called Electric Dragon on the Extra OST.

I'm lost. Shizume (Rock Guy) was a traitor and helping the CIA to get Izanami (Yin) and I'm assuming Hei was Izanagi but now I'm wondering if it wasn't Suou who was actually a copy of her brother SHion who was using her as an experiment to see if she could be like a real person with memories and everything something that was only capable with a piece of the meteor shard. He also copied another planet. But for what purpose? And I'm pretty sure that's the thing that killed him. ANd is that only "dead" people can go there? Hence his dad, July (was that November holding his hand?) and Suou? But that wouldn't explain his mother.....unless she died and they didn't show it. Nah. And she wasn't dead just losing her memories...so argh

So then Orielle knew about this the whole time? So did Hei kill Yin? And the twins said another gate opened. Keeping up with the whole afterlife thing I'm thinking this is going to be called Purgatory Gate...wonder where it's opened...I'm betting Africa. also who was that boy version of Yin in the coffin that took the souls of Mr. CIA and his troops? What was the point of the experiment? Argh....show was fairly straightforward till this episode. What the fuck man? There has to be a season 3. But please focus back on Hei and not Kirihara or something even though her group seems like they'll be the main protags. And what's up with her manly boss? Dude had a torn shirt and an M16 all manly like near the end. And the flying cars...what?

Ah so much confusion. I'm not satisfied at all :(

What I think is:
Shion made the alternate world for Suou to live in peacefully without all the contractors and cruel things in the world they live in now. So they collected all the memories they could get from ppl with the "squeezer" and with the million dolls they observed entire planet in the details 2 copy all of this on the planet Shion made for Suou so it would be like the normal world just without the gates and contractors n stuff.

But it kinda looks like this ending left hints of another season coming. Like ppl said b4 they showed this boy version of Yin at the end in the coffin and the twins mentioned a new gate opened. But it kinda seems impossible for Hei 2 be one of the main characters then since he dissapeared with Yin =[

Never thought about it like that but I think I agree with you. Also the kid in the coffin could be Yin and Shion or whoever it was that was supposed to meet Yin since if I remember correctly the subs I watched talked about a pregnancy.

This is one of those endings that makes me unable to sleep at night. I kept thinking, "WHAT DID I JUST WATCH" and contemplated to sleep.

Okay, I got the Suou being in another alternate world part..

Now, what did Hei do to Yin? Did he kill her? Did he make a wish? Where is Hei? What was with the shorter-haired Yin variant in that black coffin thing? Is that person the result of the prophecy? Where did Hazuki go after killing Shizune(spelling)? How did Madam Oreille get her hands on that ray gun thing?

Yup.. :I

I stopped watching this half way through, and decided to rewatch all of DTB with the 4 OVAs before getting back to this, and everything made a whole lot more sense this time around. A great saga. Sad it's over.

As for the ending, I didn't fully understand it, but I gotta admit I really liked it. Much better than I expected it to be. Seriously, as soon as I saw Suou in that cliched school girl scene I just thought "WHAT!? A RESET!? WTF!! Why did they have to fucking ruin this great series with a totally unorigi -- Oh... Okay. I get it >.>; "

Totally mindfucked until this. Slightly generic ending, but I guess it's ok in this case.
(lol for flying cars in the end)

IMO, there doesn't need to be another season. The story ended in an openly fashion with a nice happy ending. If only real life was like that.
But judging by all the factors, like boyish Yin, another Hell's gate, etc. a third season is possible.

I held off watching DtB 2 because I heard so many negative reviews on it. I ended it watching it over the weekend, and I'm glad I did. I prefer it over season one. Maybe because I'm just really not a Yin fan. The hobo Hei wasn't really exciting to watch for most of the series, but overal it was good.... if you just ignore the last ep. It just seemed... off. Like, "and it was all a dream" ending.

I want my Kirihara x Li smex scene. Poor Kirihara finally gets to meet Hei once and he tries to kill her then he GTFO's... xP

and I'm still not use to Mao being that... squirrel :P

I guess I understand that Suou is living with July on a copied world (I saw her running with the toast in her mouth and all I could think after that was is this Eva?!), and that the world is saved again apparently but what happened to Hei did he die too and Kirahara was was saying she wants to believe he's alive? Did he kill Yin or leave with her or what!

I love this series but there is just so much sadness at the end of these, what is going on!!!! All I could think was will they write a good ending, I hear they are making a season 3

I guess if they do make another season I will watch it because I love this show, but it seems they just rip all the happiness away at the end, it's kind of depressing, but maybe that's good to not have a good end all the time. But still seeing the characters I come to know suffer so much and then end up with virtual nothing hurts my soul.

Great series nonetheless.

I saw nothing wrong with the end. It made sense. Except for one thing...... What Orelliie was wearing. Other that that nothing else confused me.
Hei killed Izanami, it wasn't Yin any more.
Second the "Yin" in the coffin. Is a copy made by Shion (The dad said thier was always a defect with the copies).

That would be quite rude since this series had it's moments too.

By the way, would someone like to enlighten me of what actually happened.
What happened to Izanami and Izanagi? What happened to Suou and Hei, What's up with that "Going school" moment? What was that fake earthly thing in the sky and why did it vanish?

Eh, I'm still confused.

i just finished myself and ran here to check out what the fuck i just watched
anyways what i think is pretty much what everyone else thinks

shion copied a world for suou and them explaning the going to school moment
because july smiled and in the real world contracters couldnt smile

now about the izanagi and izanami thing
izanami is yin and izanagi is hei, and what came out when they joined was the wierd boy looking yin that sucked everyones souls

what i cant explain is that in the end they show hei walking off in the distance with yin in his arms, so did he just kill her and went on his merry way?

so many cliff hangers enough to make me rip my hair out, but besides that
this was a great anime

So. Many. Questions.

I mean, a lot of the major parts of the first season seemed vaguely explained to start with, and now this... Just WTF. All the way through the second season. Maybe I was just watching it too fast, but this season made no freaking sense to me whatsoever.

To sum up my feelings for this second season, I'll repeat what other people have said before me - this season, in my opinion, does not exist. Didn't like the characters (Why would they do that to Hei???), especially hated Suou because she was just... -there-, the plot only made preexisting questions worse, and to be honest, the entire thing felt like a filler arc. I'm still hoping for a third season... but only if they ignore everything they presented in this season.

Oh, and one thing I'd like to ask that hasn't seemed to have been addressed yet:

What exactly does Yin take away when she kills people? Their souls? In that case, how did Suou and July get sent to the other world that Shion created? Also, randomly: is the 'world' that Shion created real (as in physical, existing besides normal earth), or just a sort of mental projection?

^I'm pretty sure if we knew then you'd of known the answer by now. Isn't it part of art that you sometimes leave certain aspects, in this case the ending, rather open to speculation?

It seemed Hei was taking her to his star or whichever it was, and maybe they can somehow be reunited.

Very symbolic and open-ended episode, but I really liked it. Suou's journey comes to an end and her wish comes true thanks to Shion's wish. In the end I guess Shion lost his life as the price to pay for the creation of a new world where Suou could live happily.

In the real world, a lot of questions arise and everything is left open for a very possible chance of, one day, continuing the story of a fantastic series.
