Pretty freaking obvious that Madoka making the contract leads to something bad happening. Which is why Homura wants to prevent it and Kyubey is so insisted on doing it. He's doing everything he can to pressure her into doing it. The show isn't about Madoka being one, it's about preventing her from doing so. chill out man, all im saying is i want to see how badass Madoka is in magical girl form. |

Would've been A++ tier if Sayaka died, but if she did die it would disprove the theory of her becoming the giant witch in EP1. Kyubey talked about storing witches grief seeds, and what with the talk of this giant witch night coming up, i can't help but feel Kyubey's about to have a great big JUST AS KEIKAKU moment |

So I don't think that is possible to revive her even if the seed absorbed her power. The "orange hue" may be from the fact that Charlotte had consumed Mamis soul gem, so Charlotte also had the power of Mami in her. Though this does bring up the question that if Charlotte had consumed Mamis soul gem, and Homura took the grief seed with that power in it, would that be enough to revive Mami? |

I don't know why, but the only word to describe this episode for me was "Heavy". WHY does everyone want Sayaka to die! D: Sure it would be a great plot revelation, but then madoka would be completely alone surrounded by people she can't trust, and she'd still have Kybui on her case with the mahou shoujo stuff....wow, that actually sounds pretty awesome and dark.... |

IIRC, you need both a body and Soul Gem in order to effectively revive Mami and we all watched Charlotte consume her body whole (followed by Homura's systematic destruction of Charlotte); I think the Soul Gem repairs the body moreso than it actually reconstructs the body from nothing once the Soul Gem is retrieved. This episode was very revealing of Kyuubey's character overall; now it's established that Kyuubey's morals are not equivalent to the rest of the cast's and I think this is the turning point where everyone will now walk their own paths. Call me being paranoid, but Sayaka's last statement at the end of the episode makes me believe that she now has amnesia and a good portion of her memories, if not all of them, are now erased; recall that she clearly confronted Madoka over her reckless action of throwing Sayaka's Soul Gem over the bridge and now she doesn't remember what just occured. I could be reading into it too much though and Sayaka's just a bit groggy, but the emphasis placed on that last statement kind of brought it to the forefront and therefore is something to consider. |

For those wondering whose grief seed Sayaka used to purify her Soul Gem, it's likely to be Elly's. There's a bunch of squares and boxes which might allude to her TV screen's and her being the Witch of the Container. Also damn SHAFT for not showing Sayaka picking it up. This episode just had a lot more revelations and it's likely a lot of theories, mainly evil Kyubey and Time Traveller Homura are going to get stronger. More about my thoughts on the episode here. |

Ah, the series that keeps on giving. As evil and demented as Kyubey is, he's one of my favorites. only for the reason of wanting to see his horrible death later on lol. As soon as Madoka's mom openned her mouth, I knew Madoka would kill Sayaka, by doing EXACTLY what she did. Would have had more effect if it was perminant, but still awesome. Horray for twisted series :). |

If she was Madoka, how would she have gotten back to the past, because it seems her goal is to stop Madoka from becoming a magical girl, and if Madoka became a magical girl in the past, then her wish was used up. So how would Madoka be able to use a wish to become herself in the past? http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Speculah:The_Time_Travel_Theory Yeah it has flaws, so I'm not completely sold to the Homura = Madoka theory. Also it would be too obvious. It's just that Madoka fits the Faust pt.1 and Homura the Faust pt.2 wasabi said: I honestly see zero relevance to FSN other than cliche character archetypes. Homura as Archer is only barely true if this so called time travel theory is even true. Madoka and Shirou might share similar naive and idealistic views, but so do lots of other protagonists in other shows. I agree, the comparison between Madoka's characters with Fate's is farfetched. My main point was the Shirou = Archer thing. There have been enough Fate references in this show to make people wonder if the same scenario might be true for Homura and Madoka. And remember Urobuchi wrote Fate/Zero (another reason for it being too obvious btw). Nana-chii said: Orange Hue may also been reflection from the sun setting, it was going down. Add to that Homura's words that a MG dying in a witches realm is lost forever, so I highly doubt we'll see her again as a MG. Maybe as a witch? |

I think I know when Madoka becomes a Mahou Shoujo: when Homura dies -crosses finger- I think the soulgem has more secrets about it. It made me wonder after Kyuubei ate the grief seed after Sayaka transferred bad elements. Why was her soulgem corrupted? Does it has something to do when Sayaka and Kyouko fought each other? I can't buy Kyuubei's explanation about using magic will make soulgem corrupt. I think soulgem absorbs bad elements when the user is bad herself - Sayaka wanted to kill Kyouko at that time and then Kyuubei benefits from it. It has the same concept as hunting witches if that is the case... Message for Kyuubei: Stop using same deceiving tactics again and again. "The only way to save Sayaka is for you to be a mahou shoujo. :3" Madoka won't buy it now.. I hope xDD I also wonder why Homura stopped pursuing Kyuubei when Mami is already dead before Sayaka became a mahou shoujo o_O |

wow good episode. The souls actually being in the soul gem(haha obvious much?) was kinda easy to see. Not easy to see Madoka throwing Sayaka's off a bridge. Kyubey was Kyubey. Two theories on Homora:1)Madoka travling back in time. Obviously many people know this one.2)This is my personal theory.I think Homura is actually Madoka mom in a younger body. In the scene where Madoka and her mom were talking there were many times where madoka's mom looked just like homura. especially the eyes. Also that would explain why Homura is so concerned with Madoka and it would explain why her mom has such a pessimistic Homura like attitude concerning the world. Also was it just me or was that Mami's voice saying she made Sayaka's dream come true at the end of the episode? Kyubey....... wtf are you up to? |

I still can't get over how awesome this show is. I predict this will get a high rating from me. Exactly what rating will depend on the ending. A lot of interesting things in this episode. Homura appeared to be teleporting. Also the whole revelation with the soul gems, even Kyouko was surprised. Was cool to see someone actually get angry at Kyubey like that (someone besides Homura). |

Miki's part-death was amazing. After all, it was pretty obvious that the Soul Gems are literally Mahou Shojou souls, and, considering it's Urobuchi's writing, Miki dying wouldn't be surpising (albeit sad, for Madoka's sake). It's the fact that Madoka almost killed her friend there by doing something she thought was right and for the better. Holy fuck. Though, honestly I really do wonder if Kyubei is really evil. The explanation behind the Soul Gems and why he seperates the spirit from the body, though discerning and freakish, is somewhat convenient (or so he thinks; it's really flawed). Not only that, he stated he doesn't understand why humans are so freaked out about their souls being seperated, possibly showing that he, as some magical fuzzy thingy, doesn't understand how humans think? The seperation of soul and body is flawed though, since things like the gem and the body, like what happened to Miki, could happen. It also shows the MS have a very critical weak point; break the gem then you can kill the MS. Note how MS (at least the ones that we know, besides Homura) have it right there in the open. (Mami=head, Miki=navel, Sakura=upper chest) Not only that, note that Sakura held Miki's body by the throat and realized that she had no pulse. Now, it's not confirmed if seperating the soul means the body plus the body functions quit, but think about it: no pulse means no heartbeat; no heartbeat means no blood, which carries oxygen to the whole body; no blood running through the body, or no oxygen, leads to muscles and parts of the body breaking down and shutting down, especially the brain. I don't know how long it takes for a body to die if oxygen starved, but if not for Homura, Miki possibly could have died for real very quickly. These are just thoughts here. I'm not throwing out the possibility that he may be evil, but ... it just seems TOO obvious. The way the show is portraying him, especially to the viewers, may just be a red herring. Just like how the promotions and the beginning of the show flaunting Mami as one of the main characters, even though she played a small role (but critical, since she taught Madoka and Miki how MS live... and die). He is, however, sneaking any ways possible to make Madoka a MS, thus not really clearing any suspicions. He comes at the RIGHT TIME, and keeps dragging her into watching from the sidelines making for good use of, "Heeyyyyy Madooookaaa. Become a MS in this VERY CRITICAL MOMENT OF LIFE AND DEATH or else everything will be all your fauuulllttttt." On a different matter, since it was stated that MS's abilities depends on the wish, then I wonder if anything happened to what's-his-face when Miki died for the moment? I really believe that if something happens to the MH, then their wish will be undone. Nothing probably happened, since she did come back, but the possibility.... If I'm not coherent, then meh. I'm really just throwing thoughts around. Be free to pick it apart. Edit: Nevermind, I'm dumb. |

Really interesting episode as it sets a definite plot arc in the series, the Walpurgis Night. I find it interesting that Homura says that Kyouko is a "good" mahou shoujo. Perhaps she has seen something in the future that Kyouko has done. I would just like to point something out regarding the "Homura is from the future idea". How do we know that the dream that Madoka had in episode one was really a dream? I believe Madoka was on the verge of making a wish and becoming a Mahou Shoujo and then she wakes up. Perhaps Madoka used her wish to send everyone back in time. Although, that would not explain why Madoka remembers so little while Homura seems to know more. I first thought that the dream scene was a premonition to the final episode, but maybe it really was the past. One would still have to work out why Homura seems to have her memory intact though. |

I still don't think Kyuubey is evil... I think he's a bit of a jerk and he also he seems to have some kind of other motive, but I don't think he's evil. As for Homura being Madoka.... really? Why do you guys like this theory so much? If she was, wouldn't she see things like Mami dying coming? I don't think she has time traveling, otherwise catching the car would be much easier. Stupid speeding car btw. I don't really have any personal theories, but I think the theories on Homura seem a bit flawed. There really are a lot of options out there. Perhaps she has lost a huge friend in this fight and wants no one to get caught up in all this. As for why she's so fixated on Madoka, there's the whole competition thing, but I really don't know about that. All I'm trying to say is that perhaps you guys are reading into this too much because these big theories don't seem to feel logical in my mind. Maybe I'm just not getting something. Also, Sayaka didn't see Homura get tied up, only Madoka did. They didn't meet up with Sayaka yet. |

Well we really have a big clue as to what the witches probably are, they are probably the magical girls who fail to catch enough grief seed and have thier soul fully corrupted by the magic they use. (you can tell this because soul gems and grief seeds look almost the same) considering how potent Madoka would be as magical girl/ Witch it makes sense that someone from the future would want to stop her genesis. |

Good episode since it finally explained Kyuubey is not evil, he's just alien. He does not have human emotions, nor does he understand human emotions. Hence the lack of empathy up until this point. The contract now has more weight, about how much the contract actual costs and what fine prints are there. Clearly most of the mahou shoujo's don't know what they got themselves into. The underlying tone is more and more like FMA now, except the soul weights infinitely more and what wish can be worth the same as a human soul exchanged? One mystery is how much Mami knew or didn't know. Predicting Sayaka to be her unreasonable self and retaining hostility towards Homura (or Homura prevents Madoka/Kyouko from telling Sayaka what happened), Homura is really shaping up as the exact opposite of what she preaches, she meddles too much. |

Didn't Mami already say that the soul gem is a Mahou Shojo's life? And also that a mahou shojo must never allow themselves to be separated from it. I mean the specifics of the mechanics was welcome information, but it didn't exactly come out of left field. Even if it hadn't killed her that way, it would almost certainly have resulted in Sayaka's death. I mean really. Leaving Sayaka powerless in front of two enemies of overwhelming power, at least one of which is willing to kill and not to picky about the whole honor thing? Not a good idea if we want her to survive this experience. Really the only thing that saved anyone is that Kyouko was too distracted by this revelation to finish the job. Loving how Madoka's turning out. She is destabilizing fast. I know I've said that when she becomes a mahou shojo it's gonna be because she's snapped and it won't be pretty, but... yeah. Not gonna be pretty. Developing a huge crush on Kyouko^^ |

Watched it with subs now. And aside from QB showing his true unethical self, I noticed he picked up a new tactic: warning Madoka for Homura. I think he realises now who Homura is and will try to persuade her Homura is the bad guy. As for QB being evil or not, I think it would be more interesting if what he's doing is actually for the greater good. My main question now is: Homura having so much knowledge on the workings of the MG world, why doesn't she use it to prevent Madoka from forming a contract? tanner33 said: Yep, I'm with you on that. I expected it to happen sooner (ep 4), but the guy moving out of the hospital without letting her know are the first signs.Sayaka won't die until she finds out that her wish was wasted on a guy that doesn't want to see her anymore. Things learnt this episode: Mahou Shoujos HAVE to be withing 100 meters of their soul gems because that literally is their soul and would die without it. I thought so!!! In the scene Kyubey turned sayaka in to a mahou shoujo it looked like her soul was getting ripped out and turned into the soul gem. We also learned that their bodies are "Shell like" now that their soul is in the gem. Hmmm we also learned that a dangerous night where a really hard to defeat or alot of witches will come in 2 weeks... I believe that that night will be the very first scene we saw in the show. Now onto the episode I found it really nice to find out that much information about mahou shoujos... The moment Madoka threw the gem off the railing I thought "thats a bad idea something reallly shitty is going to happen now" and I was right. Sayaka died... but came back!!! I actually wouldn't of minded if she died like that... anyway i was surprised Sakura didnt know all that stuff about Mahou Shoujos... I wonder how much Homura knows??? Animation wise the scene madoka was talking to her mum was really nice!!! When it showed the ice in the juice/alcohol it looked almost real!!! The only thing that really bugs me in this show is the eyes and face... Sometimes the eyes look weird and the face to fat... But usually the eyes are nice ans crisp and the face doesn't look all fatty. Last thing to all the people that think Mami might be alive still I think not because what Homura took after killing Charlotte was her grief seed I think. After Charlotte is beaten we also see this: That looks like Mamis soul gem all beaten up so therefore to the new knowledge we learned this episode I classify her as dead~ |

There's a lot of theories behind what exactly causes the Soul Gem to become tainted, but we know that after a Grief Seed absorbs too much taint from a Soul Gem, the witch can be revived. Since Witches are born from curses, negative emotions etc. we can assume the use of magic may in fact be a curse on the soul. If we also go by the negative emotions as being part of the taint, the way Mami fights, especially during episode 2, she remains rather cool, calm and collected which may also tie into her talents for being able to fight without using Grief Seeds. The same could be said for Homura, whose policy as a Puella Magi is to keep those negative emotions in check as to keep herself alive. The grief seed was picked up offscreen but given there wasn't much of a timeskip I'd assume the Grief Seed was from the witch in episode 5 or Elly's. |

Just wow. this shit is getting real and real after every episode. so kyube transferred their soul to gem. their functioning body is just hardware. kyoko you should have killed kyube. also i don't know why humora is not trying to kill him again. so homura is probably from future. i would like her to kick kyoko in the beginning but things turned out quite against. she gave city to kyoko. i can't wait for next episode, i don't know when madoka will make her mind to make a contract. how reckless madoka can get by throwing gem. even if sayaka had not died, kyoko was going to beat the crap out of her. homura-chan saved her twice. <3 |

I don't get the hate on kyubei. We may not fully understand his motives and he is misleading the girls partially but it's pretty obvious that when you make a contract you are signing your life away. Plus the soul being in the soul gem seems like a logically sound idea to me, why would they care that it is no longer in their body. |

I watched this back to back RAW and subbed to see exactly what is going on both comprehension and observing. I concluded that this anime is a completely purple haze from mentioning Leech by the following comment in the spoiler cleo said: to mentioning more about the removing the taint from the Soul Gem. So why is that? I think it goes back to the cycle, you get tainted too much and your life is either over or you become a witch since Kyuubei does mention that if the Grief seed does get too dark the witch will revive so if the Soul Gem gets to dark you are most likely dead and become something else. . Magical Girls are basically lichs, with their Soulgems functioning as phylactery. So this is no different than throwing away your life for a wish and on top of that it has a condition that does not let you use infinite magic unless you stock pile on Grief Seeds. The mention of Walpurgisnacht does insight a major boss coming to gather with its witches and if take what witchcraft isthen it can be as simple as Magical Girls being witches fighting dark witches with a dark eerie atmosphere. I am not sure about 2 factions yet this episode made me think to put things in doubt because both good and evil factions can use this power whatever they may be. Also agree Kyuubei is amoral probably because he is programmed as something to execute the transformation or is just using Magical Girls to gather more power for himself through the Grief seed consuming part. Two outstanding things, for one those fangs! Because they are so cute and a freaky Sayaka in the spoiler About Sayaka, she got on my nerves because of her stubborn ways. Too bad they skipped the witch being killed by Sayaka because I wanted to see that fight of hers. Instead they show her in her room, which is big really but clean and nicely furnished. It really got on my nerves that after all she accepted she still complains at this point. This is ridiculous, she should not be like that after all the fights she has been through. Obviously I should have suspected Kyuubei trying to coerce her, into making Madoka into a Soul Gem. Interesting enough Sayaka’s soul Gem has her symbol on top of it. Now that I think about it, it’s thread-full since that’s who you are. Although I did not like her conversation with Madoka here, I think her sense of justice is flawed in it’s ideology and is reckless she should find another solution. Looks like she was quite surprised atKamijo’s fast recovery. At the end it was quite the scare with the way she looked but even more the way she responded. Completely just a shell with no memory recollection at all. I would certainly not be that. It creates a very large weakness focused on one object that if it breaks it’s over. About Madoka, she was kind of annoying of being too emotional and reckless. From the beginning her suggestion to Sayaka was not well formulated since it irritated. By that I mean she suggested it the wrong way, talking will not make any difference, it’s about not getting in the way of the other. I would move to another town that has witches simply. I did like the way she was in bed, a rather cute part. Most meaningful was when she talked with her mother, you could clearly see she bonds with her well with even wanting to get drunk with her. Problem with that conversation is that her mother influenced her the wrong way in her explanations. If you do something wrong, make sure it’s not going to be extreme but can’t really blame her for throwing out Sayaka’s Soul Gem. At that time she though if she did not have it she would not fight and walk away. Somehow her mother really did not explain things properly, I don’t know, just feeling I got although she did give her valuable lesson such as learning from your mistake. About Kyoko Sakura, she was both very aggressive and comedic this episode and I do like her transformation which I will use for my hall of fame. From the very beginning she was quite defiant with that face of hers towards Homura’s choice offer. My first though about DDR part was initially ROFL, oh no what is it doing there? I noticed during that part that Kyoko does look also cute with that Poky in her mouth in every way in the spoiler In fact she was pretty mean to Sayaka’s wish there but she is right about one thing, the wish should be for yourself because if anything happens to that person then your wish is waste for a transformation into a soul gem. Not worth it at all if you ask me. One thing I liked Sakura’s transformation is this pose. Really nice! She grabbed Kyuubei very lovely and that should teach him some roughness. About Akemi Homura, she quite powerful in the beginning from instantly teleporting behind Sakura to quickly doing another one to hand chopSayaka from behind instantly making her KO. She is the one who comes to see Kyoko in the arcades to tell her most of all that Sayaka will not make it and the town is Kyoko’s territory. I was kind of confused by it because does it mean she wants to eliminate Sayaka or to wait for Walpurgisnacht Night in order to make use of Sayaka? The later could be better as she can weaken the main boss for Homura to kill it regardless Homura’s expression was cold as steel. No emotions whatsoever. Until she started her teleportation run to get to Sayaka’s Soul Gem on the truck then she had a kind of expression that looks to me like she does care. I wonder if it’s because of that talk she had with Madoka back in episode 5. It proves that Homura can indeed teleport but only short distance. About Kyuubei, he makes me think of something with those eyes that look like cameras. He is for sure amoral but without a scum bag because he did not tell you would be a gem stone completely. I would much more prefer to be a free soul instead of something in a gem as means to the end of having optimal magic control. A human can very well fight against other witches, it’s been done lots in other animes so it’s BS what Kyuubei says and I don’t buy it. Further more his sudden thing opening on his back only to swallow the Grief Seed does not look too convincing of him being anything but something of a robotic nature or supernatural that is strange. Whether he uses all this to become stronger or effectively disposes of the it remains to be known. About miscellaneous things, I have noticed the world where this is all going is far more advanced than I though from having temperature precise controls down to the Celsius to a keypad that looks holographic with a advance screen to Madoka to do her homework, it shows a lot about this world being advanced yet simple. I liked this scene for its dark eerie atmosphere that is supposed to chill out the audience and it did work out in the RAW but not after, guess it’s a one time shooter for me on that one. About preview of next episode, I think it could be a emotional reflection of Madoka and it would interesting to see instead of her complaining and worrying to see a serious side of her thoughts. This episode’s art work in spoiler |

Well... I don't really mind if Madoka never actually becomes a mahou shoujo, but seriously, that attitude of hers annoys me. >_> But except for Madoka, everything else about this is great. And what's with all the hate for poor Kyubey? I'm sure he's got his reasons. Might be evil reasons, but who cares, right? "I think Kyubey is a pretty cool guy, eh makes people's souls into gems and doesnt afraid of anything." |

Agrees with Oosran, Madoka is horribly annoying but the rest of the series is 9/10 stuff. |

Gangler said: Didn't Mami already say that the soul gem is a Mahou Shojo's life? And also that a mahou shojo must never allow themselves to be separated from it. I mean the specifics of the mechanics was welcome information, but it didn't exactly come out of left field. Hmm I don't quite recall her ever saying the soul gem itself was the source of the magical girls life. She emphasized it was important, but I rewatched ep two and she never said it was the source of their life. She just said that in general being a magical girl was a contract of your life, not the soul gem was. She mainly saying more abstract that they should really think carefully what they want and what they want to risk their lives for. Then we see her die and we know that they are bound by this wish forever for real. It's easy to forget the soul gem and see it more simply as the object used to transform without really thinking about what it is. It never gets explored too much what the object used for transformation is, it just is with usually some simple explanation attached it's where the magical power comes from. Also I have gotten really absorbed into the show, so I am probably looking at it really biased. Even last week I said that it seems it is literally their soul I don't think it even crossed my mind that is their soul so what happens to them if something happens to it? It seems simple though I think I was also expecting Kyuub to have some influence over it and it would be used more as just the basic tool used for transformation. But it's not. It's literally the girl, they have been ripped out of their bodies and put into a small gem one that is probably even easier to break than their original bodies. It's really twisted when you think about it. But is anything shown so far really that far out in the left field? Even Mami's death? She got warned by Homura. She had the grand speech about her life and how she was not afraid anymore now. She was the mentor figure. Then she died. If you look at it like that both of these aren't big revelations. Yet even I am still finding myself surprised by both these. Like I said I think I am just getting easily absorbed into this show. But hey, it's been a long time so I don't mind. You can feel free to ignore me going off. Anyways... I couple things that crossed my mind. I think now we might (still wasn't 100% confirmed) know that when the soul gem goes out you will also die, considering if it breaks you will die. That's why it would also be important to keep it clean using the grief seeds. Put my thoughts about Madoka in spoiler. Also a lot of people seem to be getting mad and annoyed at Madoka. Though You know what I still think she is a really awesome character. I don't know why, but everything she does when thinking about makes sense since episode 4. Not wanting to become a magical girl right away after seeing your friend get their head nom'ed on is scary. Yet still having the courage to go into danger by following the group of people about to try and commit mass suicide and save some people, is really brave and kind of cool of her. Even at the stupidest thing she just did just now, thinking about it well... Though you know what...I think in the end it was with the right thing to do. After all she was just following the advice of her mom. Her mom told her then you need to do something wrong. Then saying basically if she was really stuck try doing something bad and making a mistakes. Which makes a lot of sense. We learn from our mistakes, if this hadn't have been done who knows we would have found out. Maybe if someone else died? Probably though it still feels like a big Maybe to me. Kyuubey wasn't exactly giving that information out when he talks about granting your wishes does he? It was incredibly stupid to throw it out in traffic but Madoka making a big mistake did get something done. She is just really really reaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllly lucky she didn't get Sayaka smashed and killed for reals so yeah still pretty stupid though thinking I understand it more, and well she is the naive and brave character type so I guess it makes sense for her to do something incredibly stupid. About Homura...not sure about anything related to the time traveling thing as much anymore. I mean if she did wouldn't she have saw this all coming all ready, wouldn't she be trying harder to prevent stuff like say Mami's death? Wouldn't she have not broke her cold face for once and given that completely shocked look on her face when Madoka actually threw that into the street? Something I was wondering, if they don't need their body is it possible they don't age? (Or Possibly they can switch bodies or something?) Maybe Homura is some really old magical girl? I really don't know. Also even though she knew about this big event of all witches night, Kyouko seemed to know too. I honestly am about to stop speculating I find myself being wrong more than right XD;; Edit;; I edited this thing waaaaaaay too much I shouldn't try this when i am sleepy =w=;; |

Wasabi said: You forgot the mother's advice also was a motivator in all this. I think the influence was the primary suspect.Epic Madoka fail. Her naive attitude and actions nearly cost her friend her life. Wasabi said: Kyubey proves once again he is a master troll. He's obviously gaining power by eating all the grief seeds. Maybe and maybe not. We still cannot be sure but I am willing to go on your side with that one. Don't trust the fur-ball at all. Wasabi said: Indeed I am also going with this. We clearly seen in the beginning that the it's a larger Witch and it looks not to be in its own dimension but going into the reality of the world where Madoka lives.Since they mentioned Walpurgisnacht, I'm assuming that a large amount of witches are going to show up very soon or at least a very powerful one.... and then Kyubey reveals himself to be the mastermind. RyanSaotome said: I think she was given power and someone sent her. It's too powerful of a power for any entity to entrust to just a subordinate like Homura hence comes 2 factions theory. Here is my theory about Homura: She is actually a time traveler who took the appearance of her old body through her wish to become a mahou shoujo. This would explain how she always appears out of no where (her power would be time/space manipulation), and the reason she has come back is because she experienced all of this first hand in the past, and wants to stop her two best friends (From after she transferred into the school) from going down the same path they did the first time, which ended up with both of them dead. canders5 said: Agree on both but maybe Madoka will reflect better next episode and there will be less of her whining.Tbh, I really hope Miki dies, shes played her role of joker, now goooo. Nah... not like that but I pretty much hate her character. The main character annoys me to death. Wasabi said: garfield15 said: Wasabi said: Epic Madoka fail. Her naive attitude and actions nearly cost her friend her life. Actually, considering she didn't know that was going to happen and she just had a talk with her mom about doing things for people even though they might hate you....that was probably the right decision. Of course, it quickly became the wrong one Yes but still, it is her naive idealistic world of pretty girls working together and cookies and cream that led to that moment. That speech she gave in the beginning of the episode just made me facedesk for how naive she really is. She may be but I think they are really showing off of the emotional state and how it can result in a future stronger Soul Gem. When it happens and looking back at how Madoka is look in this episode, I think it might prove something. Her whining is getting annoying though. cleo said: Fate N/S was way better than this I don't see any relevance apart from what Wasabi mentions. Especially put together with the Fate/Stay Night references: Homura = Archer Madoka = Shirou Mami = Gilgamesh? (she used Gate of Babylon) Kyouko = Lancer? Sayaka = Saber????? I honestly see zero relevance to FSN other than cliche character archetypes. Homura as Archer is only barely true if this so called time travel theory is even true. Madoka and Shirou might share similar naive and idealistic views, but so do lots of other protagonists in other shows. Mami as Gilgamesh? Just because she used unlimited gun works? Other than that, I see no comparison other than they both wear gold/yellow. Kyouko as Lancer just because they're bloodthirsty and uses a lance? Sayaka as Saber? Sure, they may "see" a "righteous" path, but so do a lot of other white knight-type characters. RyanSaotome said: Exactly! I am also sure. She was just to show what happens to someone who gets eaten by these Witches and as a mentor that leads in the first step.saka said: If the manga is to be believed, it shows Mamis decapitated body after Charlotte killed her, and her soul gem was on her hat. Plus, her clothes went back to her school uniform right when she was killed, thus the power of the jewel was gone. I'm pretty confident Mami is still dead.I'm sure many have noted already that Mami is likely not dead, because we don't know what happened to her soul gem after she "dies". Homura may have retrieved it amid all her teleporting. Kracksickles said: Based on your reference, some of the theories to its origin can easily tie in with some elements of this episode. It would be interesting to analyze this.herox3 said: Hey Diddle Diddle The nursery rhyme on Madoka's computer. I have no idea what it means though >_> I wanted Sayaka to stay dead, but the truth behind the soul gem made up for it. And QB finally shows his sadistic, evil side behind his :3 face. I was just about to post that. I really want to know whether it has any significance. Edit: Here's the screeny of it with the dialogue of when the reference was displayed: |

Can someone tell me how throwing away Sayaka's Soul Gem was not a good thing (you know, before the reveal that it was their life). I mean, it makes sense. She just had a conversation with her mom about doing things to help your friends and make mistakes even if they'll hate you for it, and it's not like she knew that throwing it away would lead to her death. In her mind, it was probably just throwing away the annoying source of power that was messing up Sayaka's life. Plus she already threw a bucket. Probably was trying to go two-for-two there. |
