For me it's s2 > s3 > s1.
Season 1 does a good job at establishing the characters and the problems.
Season 3 provides a wonderful ending albeit with a few hiccups.
Season 2 is where Oregairu really shines for me.

Zoku and Kan are better than the first season in my opinion, but I can't really say which is the superior one between them. There were a few minor issues with how the story was adapted in Kan, but the ending was really satisfying and beautiful. So I'm not really sure...

If only Feel had a good production like they had in 2nd term, S3 had potential to cross S2 because it breaks out of his subtility. Well, whatever

I loved everything about season 2, it really tugged on some heart strings. While they didn't do the whole of S3 justice they did the last few episode almost perfectly from a non-novel reader.

*ahem* you totally forgot to add the most important poll; every season is garbage.

Although the 2nd season is clearly the worst of the bunch.

Yikes. If you would like some emotional support then feel free to contact me. You seem deeply hurt and offended by how many people like Oregairu. Maybe just give it some time and the tears will stop flowing for you.

Yeah this sounds about right. The self-deprecating comedy in season 1 was bound to leave us eventually. Though I must say I'm not the biggest fan of anime comedy that include traps, chuunibyou, or fujoshis.

She’s the close-minded individual with the questionable “review” that somehow made it to top 4 just cause irrationals tend to attract one another very easily. I don’t think reaching out with a contact will benefit someone of that nature.

I did notice, yeah. I honestly do not mind people giving negative reviews to Oregairu. But this person's review clearly shows that they have no idea what they just watched lmao. The least I expect from a popular review is for it to make a decent amount of sense. So yeah it does seem like a bunch of people just upvoted their review without having a legitimate reason to do so, which is a shame but hey not much we can do about it.

S2 > S3 > S1

If only the middle of this season wasn't dragged out (maybe if they somehow adapted the thousands of Hachiman monologues that makes it be still a masterpiece on the LN), I think it would beat season 2

Definitely season 2 is my favorite among the three. It cemented my love for the series and even made me read my first LN which was a decision I didn't regret one bit.

S2 > S1>= S3

I expect for more people to like season 1. I mean it was the least dramatic season, but that's why I like it. There was no drama, but I liked the character development of it and I kinda look at the art style and feel some nostalgia lol. Season 2 is my favorite because of so much drama and season 3 was great too, but I'm not sure if I love the ending.

People seem to forget when Season 2 was out, it was way too rushed. The pacing was all over the place. Season 1 was honestly the most impressive in terms of story and maybe character. This season had less expectations because everyone already knew what they were getting themselves into

Probably gonna get hate but for me S1>S3>S2.

S1 had a good balance of everything so most of the episodes felt satisfying.

S2 had too much drama for me.

S3 wasted too much time on useless things, but the last 2 episodes definitely made a worthy pay off.

Lol I personally enjoy the series but seeing your review I exactly see where your coming from. Sadly Hachiman and Yukino are the main characters so everything they do has to get favoritism and seen in a positive light and everyone else has to get thrown down the bus to push their view up. I mean look at how badly these fans warship and defend them lol. Despite linking the series a lot I found the authors views on certain people are way too bias to the point where it would only give enjoyment to readers on that side of his bias. His story at the end of the day so it is what it is.

Nah, you're right too, s1 was the most clearest adaptation of the characters despite it skipping an entire vol, but yh, s2 comes out on top because it has waaayy too many great moments for it not come on top, and s3, well everything from ep 6-10 kinda made the series dragged out, the last two eps was done great, but yh, some great side character interactions was cut because they didnt properly plan the novel distrubions for the eps..

Lol I agree to this, I mean as a fan of this anime, there is a lot of things you can criticize this and yet they choose the dumbest reason.

Anyways I still think season 2 is the best:

Season 1 is all about laying out the characters, what their point of view was and how they act upon certain things (I still don't get why people say season 1 has no drama, I mean you have Yui and Hachiman's Argument, Tsurumi Rumi and her group of "friends", Hayama and Yukino's Past, Hachiman and Sagami Minami about Festival, Hayama's Clique, the Incident of how Hachiman became a loner in the first place. If that is not drama idk what is.) It's a great start of a show.

In season 2 is where it really shines, Now that we know the characters, they were put in a situation that challenges their point of views, this became my favorite season out of the three bacause of Hayato and Hachiman, as much as people disagree to this I think this two is the star of this season, we got to see a clash of perspectives. And we get to see how the main characters changes throughout this season.

In the final season, where all of the 2nd season's payoff comes in place, And all I can say is it's fun swimming in the tears of salty people who disliked the overall story bacause their girls didn't win, which is inevitable in the first place.

I like all 3 seasons but:

I think S1 was the cleanest and most elegant, and I liked it the most. The problems were clear cut, it didn't have too much melodrama, and the characters were all introduced well and developed reasonably. This is probably the "happiest" overall season too; the others have more sad and emotional moments with tears and such. Also, small, but I prefer the animation/art style in this season.

I think S2 had relatively more emotions but also much more melodrama and issues stemming from miscommunication as well as philosophy, and I wasn't as big a fan of that. Some romantic and emotional moments hit harder in this season, but the negative of the excess melodrama holds it back a bit more for me. I also just have a personal distaste for the scenes with the other school's president.

I think S3 needs a bit more time to stir and probably more rewatches since I've done rewatches of the other seasons. I definitely appreciate the payoff with Yukino, and I think it mostly wrapped things up well, but I do think it pushed hard on Yui scenes. I do like this for not having as much melodrama though and for the characters being open with their feelings.

Overall, I lean toward S1 > S3 > S2, but all three are still good, and the series works best as a whole, always building on past events and emotions.

My best is the second one, its well balanced at every aspects, at least for me.
The first is their setup, its fine.
While the last, surely has been setting on to closed their convoluted story.
Thats it.

My opinion is from an anime-only watcher perspective.

S2 best overall imo, actually I started watching Oregairu because I am interested in S2 art style. S2 was the bridge setting the path connecting from the fun rom-com of S1 to the melodrama between the trio. I held S2 on the highest regard because it managed to juggle both the rom-com aspect of the show and the melodrama without one over-dominating the other part (just like S3).

S3 is great, but I agree with most people with the pacing slightly off, way too centered toward Yui, visual kinda dipped compared to S2. I can understand why people don't really like this season since the story was getting more complicated since it focused on the climax of the love drama between the 3 and feel like a complete 180 from Season 1. Of course, a lot of people will tune out and troubled to keep up with the story especially with a lot of logic and word twisting, subtext, and philosophical in a lot of scenes, but problems aside, it was still a great series with the conclusion that I can't say it's perfect, but it will make do for now.

S1 is a great setup for a rom-com series, doesn't take the drama too seriously and way more focused on introducing the trio and the beginning of their relationship, almost no drama between the 3, instead of more centered toward each character's perspective and thought toward a situation, creating a baseline for us what to expect from this trio for future stories. While I like S1 a lot, it just feels like a series straight out of the 2010s with the plot and story-pacing. If Oregairu S1 was first aired in 2020, I don't think people will like it as much as when it was first aired in 2013.

Season 2 of course. There was many important things which happened like Hikigaya speech ( which was the turning point of this series ), his character development and Yuigahama's and Yukinoshita's of course. Besides, the humour was still visible in the dialogues, which made this season as good as the first one. The scenery of Winter and Christmas was just beyond everything. This season was something else. I enjoyed every bit of it. A masterpiece. The change of animation was good enough, but of course there were some moments when the studio could do a better job with characters desing. However, I won't be complaying about such a trivial details.

for me is S1, cuz here is the beginning of how mc will learn & realize about the society with a heroine that have a problem like him & a person that opposite from him like yui that gonna make him be open-minded to see other people problem too. S2 the progress with how mc start to accept & understand other people, even with someone who he don't like . S3 it's more like final touch to the romance with how 8man can finally understand & express his feeling *since the op already give big hint with who gonna win, most the chap is like a redemption for yui. Man, what a series. I just hope the new short story that wataru-sensei do right now, can be implemented to OVA or Movie (8man x Yukinon)

Don't get me wrong. Season 3 is so well done and directed, but it lacks Hachiman's awesome monologues and screen time of Hayato, my second favorite character. Well, it may be because Hachiman has changed a lot as a character, and Hayato is not relevant to this prom thing. In addition, this season focused a lot more on the feelings and romance, which are genres I'm not that much interested on. Still, season 3 perfectly solves all the main character's problems and developments.

Season 1 introduces all kinds of shallow relationships and facade. We can see it by Hayato's three friends, the first appearance of Haruno's facade, and a lot more examples. There are a lot of Hachiman's cool monologues, and many events from this season are relatable to some aspects of my life.

Next, season 2 is definitely my favorite. It presents the major theme of this entire anime (I want something genuine) and even questions what is the main problem of the story and how Hachiman should approach it. This season surely challenges all the characters for a change in their lives. We can see it on Hayato's group, the jazz-hand guy, and most importantly, Hachiman's club. Also, second season's OP and ED are the best in my opinion, not to mention that it also has the best scene of the entire series: the genuine scene!

Overall, Oregairu anime version is so well structured. Each season has its own themes and styles, all with the purpose of contributing its major theme. Now I can see why S1 has more comedy, S2, more tension and drama, and lastly, S3, more feelings and affection. I have the light novels, and I will someday read them all, yet the anime Oregairu is unquestionably listed in my top 10 anime (rank #7 or #8).

I love season 2, that was the season that made Oregairu my favorite show. After many re-watched I started to appreciate S1 as well and after reading volumes 12-14 I knew that many people could get a little disappointed but it's still worth it if you are a fan.

I think that season 3 has been quite misunderstood, it's different than the previous seasons and you need to read a lot between the lines. A lot of episode are full of excuses like all the subject about codependency. Once you understand it well you start to like it. For me S2 > S3 > S1
