| Haven't watched the anime completely, but I already hated her the first time I saw her. I can't take her serious as a character, she is just the stereotype of the underdeveloped serious girl, with the indifferent face that is supposed to be wise despite her looks. Like this little one in Onegai Teacher. They are just making everything so complicated but the audience still seems to like them. Why? Makoto is an a$$ but he is realistic. There are guys like him. There are girls like Sekai. There are princesses like Kotonoha. But nowhere besides in anime you find these useless dwarfs. In an anime that plays in our time and is supposed to mirror reality, something like that is just annoying. |

I wanted to type "not needed" first and changed it to "annoying" but forgot to get rid of the not... ^^* Btw, just now (3 hours after my post) I did finish the series (watching the last 6 episodes on block) and I still dislike Setsuna. But I pretty much dislike everyone by now so... XD |

| Setsuna is a Sekai in extreme...she had crush on Makoto longer than Sekai even tough she "helps" her to the end... But Setsuna much more strict and she can endure the hardships more than Sekai. And why she forces Makoto to officially break up with Kotonoha? Cuz she needed someone who will take care of Sekai fast! At time only Makoto was "avalible" so she needed to blow away the Kotonoha problem... Even tough she ended up alienating both Kotonoha and Sekai from Makoto and turn Kotonoha's and Sekai's crumbling friendship to open war. I can't hate her...she's the most caring person and maybe the most selfless in the show. |

I may say that Setsuna is a kind of conscience to Makoto. She's like a part of the thoughts that he doesn't have too often... She's really annoying, like everyone's real conscience, because we don't like some thoughts we have. Sometimes, we'd like to do bad things, but our inner sense says we must not. That's why most people tend to dislike Makoto: He first do things wrong to then look at himself through others eyes and re-think his actions. I'm not a specialist at that, but some characters like her make me feel that. Ignore everything i've said above, that don't works for Setsuna. I just posted it before seeing all School Days episodes. |

| I think Setsuna is *trying* to be everyones concience. But she fails in my opinion... She makes this wise face, but she isn't wise at all. She seems to think that speaking in a low voice and having no facial expression qualifies her for being a serious character. She tries to maker herself important and meddles with things that she should stay out of (like worsening Kotonohas situation by trying to "protect" Sekais and Makotos relationship). It's a nice idea to see a character as Makotos concience, but as I said, Setsuna failed at that (if she even tried to). IF Makoto had any person that would be his concience, he wouldn't have ended how he ended. His half-hearted regrets were not enough to ease the pain of those he hurt. |

I understand that she's worried about Sekai but the things she did a simple "I'm worried about Sekai" doesn't justify. I do generally dislike this archetype of character though, even more than tsundere, because I can at least see why tsunderes are liked. |

| Setsuna was my favourite character by miles and the only one with a decent head on her shoulders. I find it a pity she had to leave as im sure the whole ending could have been far different had she stayed, it may even have been a happy one somehow! |

Just because you haven't seen that kind of person in real life doesn't mean it's not "real". I've barely seen girls like Sekai, I've seen some people like Makoto, yet they were castaways. As from what I've seen, no one would even go near people like Makoto once he's done something like that. And I've never even once seen a princess like Kotonoha. But I've seen quite a lot of people with personalities like Setsuna, but all of them are boys though. Can't say I like Setsuna, but I can't say I hate her as well. |
