Just want to know if most people watches 720p or 1080p anime on their laptop, with their small screens.

720p. I think my laptop specs are too crappy to handle 1080p. Poor thing would most likely explode.

Besides, my screen is 1280x800. I don't see the point of running 1080p on such screen. :P I don't even use a external monitor/TV, so yeah.
At first I was like ヽ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ. But then I was like ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌.

I watch 720p Blu Ray rips if I can find that version. Most have noticeable video quality increase compared to 720p HDTV/480p SD even in my 13.3 inch laptop screen. 1080p is a waste for me since my screen resolution is 1280x800. Though I still get 1080p if no good 720p version exists.

I did, since I've an 18 inch 1920x1080 laptop screen. But now that I've connected my laptop to my hdtv and dualscreen, I watch all my anime on the tv.

If your computer can handle the resolution and the screen resolution is over 720p, then its worth it in my opinion.

I always go for at least 720p, and on days when my computer decides not to fry in the process, I actually run filters that double the frame rate of my video as it plays. It's pretty damn awesome. :)

I only rewatch anime that I really like in 1080p.
I can fully enjoy it too since my lappy is 1920x1080.

As for my laptop, it can handle 1080p smoothly. On the other hand, I haven't noticed much of a difference between that and 720p so it all comes down to how patient I am because my internet connection speed isn't exactly superb.

I believe there's nothing really happens to your laptop if it's not strong enough to play 1080p files. But the video playback will usually be out of sync with laggy video and things like that. I never really experience this even with 1080p files so I don't really know much about it.

My laptop can't handle 1080p, so its 720p. If it's 1080p, it won't even play properly or it will lagged all the time.

My computer is 1280x800 so like others have said it's pointless to run it 1080p. I've tried once as a test and it could run it, if only barely, but no point. Besides my TV is 720p too so when I want to watch anime on it I can't go higher than that anyway.

Hardware can handle it easily, but screen is 1366x768, so 720p. Besides, my laptop hdd is only 320gb and I don't want to lug around an ext hdd so smaller file sizes works well too.

Solution:

Buy 1080 65" TV for your room even though its going to put you 200$ in the negatives and your going to have to live off of ravioli and poptarts... once a week xD

become the envy of your friends. and host parties... where you keep the leftovers =P

720p, and since my laptop doesn't have HDMI (can you tell I'm a poor college student? LOL) when I hook it up to my TV when I'm home (1080p) it won't matter either way.

My laptop screen is 1920x1080 and I have a 24 monitor I use as a second display. Still, I watch anime in sd or if I really like the show 720p but thats rare. I tend to keep the things I download (anime and other tv shows) and I already don't have enough space for everything as it is at ~2.5TB. If I had more space there are more shows I would dl before going to hd, especially for anime.

I usually go for the highest quality. My laptop does just have a 1280x800 screen, but is at least able to play 1080p except in energy saving mode. And since i have a desktop with full 1080p (1200, to be exact) and the habit of storing all animes for potential later rewatches, I prefer to do it in FullHD.

720p for me.

Going up to 1080p is pointless with my laptop's screen resolution (1600 x 900). 720p is more than enough to watch in fullscreen with good quality, plus 720p files are smaller and are less choppy during playback.

I usually go for 720p when I have a choice. Even though I watch anime on a 42" TV there's still not much difference between 720p and 1080p, so I'd rather go for the smaller sized files.

Same goes with my 50" TV, cant really tell much difference between 720 and 1080. You can store soooo much more on your HDD when you download 720 instead of 1080.
