| I just started watching the series and I feel like punching his main love interest. She is completely irrational and complains non stop. Saeko is really the only female in the group that is even semi relate-able or interesting. I would give me great pleasure to see Rei ripped apart by zombies. I guess that bias makes it hard for me to actually be objective when choosing though ^^ EDIT: After catching up, I have to support Saeko for legitimate reasons. She and him have elements of being a pair of old lovers. I think their interactions, romance, and teamwork are the highlight of the show. It seems like any attraction he has to Rei is based on their past and not their present; where as Saeko is somebody he appears to be falling in love for for who she is. I am getting he will end up with Rei since harem series almost never divulge from the whole "the first girl the guy is introduced with is the one he ends up with" thing. Saeko and Takashi is simply too interesting to end up as canon. |

Takashi narrates the events, the storyline is always focused on what is going on with him (His little adventures with Rei and Saeko were covered, but we had no idea what was happening with the others)... It's obvious that Takashi is the main character. You can have a group of characters but still have a "main" character. It has nothing to do with group dynamics, it's about who the story focuses on the most. |

And based on the episodes so far, she certainly has a very feminine appeal. I'm not sure why people don't see her in a relationship though. |

| In my opinion, Saeko. even tho she may enjoy killing, it's part of human nature, and she acknowledges the fact that shes scared of this. besides, she quiet and more acute. rei just seems to be leaning where ever she can. |

| Shouldn't this been a poll? Anyways I choose Saeko. I also hate Rei like the many others here. And for Saya, sometimes I like her even though she gets a little emotional sometimes but its easy to brush off though. |

She must have felt some genuine affection for Hisashi because she was destroyed when he was killed. Not only that, but she saw her boyfriend slaughtered by her love interest with a baseball bat. Do you really think a person would be rational then? And she always showed interest in Takashi, but he never paid attention. What was she supposed to do, just pine away forever? She tried to move on, but she was placed in a position that is very difficult. And also, Hirano is no a "comic relief" character. He's a bada$$, and probably the best character of the entire cast. He and Saya totally fit together. |

Becides, Saya alot of times has made mention of anime , manga, or games throughout the HOTD Acts , why would Takagi Saya do this ? Even if it is just random talk subjects like these would not come up so often unless one has had a lot of interaction with said subject. My guess is Saya is actually a closet otaku ( it would fit her character so well ! ) not to mention in that case she is so 100% destined to be paired with Hirano ! Or it could just be the creators and/or producers throwing this dialogue in to cater to the otaku audience… which I really hope is not the case , because that is just cheap , lame , and not very effective |

Because it's obvious for manga readers,that Takashi X Saya will never happen... So the only thing Saya and Hirano need now is to get some time alone. Her promise, in its exact wording, is, "I'm going to marry you, Takashi." It says nothing about dating. It just says she's going to marry him. Completely disregarding the fact that they were little kids when they made the promise and that it isn't binding, she's done nothing to break the terms of what she actually promised - to eventually marry him. Dating =/= marrying and was not included in the terms of their agreement and her dating Hisashi was within the bounds of what she'd promised Takashi. If you want to completely disregard that though and assume that her promise also says that dating other people is out (which again, it doesn't)...... then she STILL doesn't break her promise. Takashi does. It was pretty clearly an anticipatory breach (whenever one party is given clear indication that the other party will not fulfill their end of the promise they are allowed to terminate said promise) on his part - essentially, by completely ignoring her advances throughout their lives before the zombie apocalypse, as the story tells us he was doing, he was pretty clearly signaling that he had no interest in upholding his end of the bargain when the time came and broke the promise through non-action, not her. She can't be faulted because Takashi was sitting with his thumb up his ass for the better part of 6-10 years. Furthermore, Takashi came across to me like a baby who only wants a ball after another baby starts playing with it - the story told us he'd been ignoring and brushing off her advances for years, but as soon as we see she's dating Hisashi he's all of a sudden extremely jealous. Now he's out of the picture and... he's brushing her off again 2) Rei just feels like the most realistic woman in the series, and as such she's easy to relate to. People call her a *****, but honestly she's probably had the most realistic reactions out of anyone. I know I'd be throwing a **** storm if the zombie apocalypse ever came about, and I'd hope any normal person would. Still, she's taken to it all relatively well, and even though she has had her moments they've been handled realistically and are within the bounds of what I'd expect. She gets knocked down a bit for the unbelievable bust, but I'd still put her in third behind Rika and Asami. 3) Saeko WAS my favourite.... up until that whole, "killing/hurting people makes me wet - and this isn't a new trend," deal. Thanks for the offer there, but I'm not into that kind of stuff. I'd totally want her by my side when it all hits the fan, but stay out my bed. 4) That's why Takashi x Rei-my choice... |
