I watched the movie yesterday and... I hate it... How can they put so much epicness in one movie, end it with a cliffhanger and make me wait up to 2 years for the next part?! >.< I´ll drop dead of overexcitement before part 3 comes out... Let alone part 4... ._. Anyways, back to serious: Awesome movie, loved it, 99.9% perfect (only thing that I disliked were the "walking CG-puppets" when they depicted crowds, but that´s just my personal thingy... I don´t like CG for something like that o.o) On a related note: Holy crap! 6 dislikes and 2 hates! O.O |

Well, here's the thing; The only "music change" he mentioned was the Unit 03-scene. The other two scenes were in fact completely new, so they couldn't have changed the music in the first place. And they DID play The Beast II in its entirety, (or, techincally the Rebuild-version is called Sin From Genesis, but whatever) so it doesn't really make sense to claim that they just cut it off. Besides, if it were to keep playing over the entire Third Impact-sequence, it would have to play uninterrupted for 7 minutes. It just wouldn't work. |

SPOILER AHEAD! (original series and rebuild) Just watched. What I have to say? Probably one of the best action and gory movies that I ever seen. BUT the essence of the Original Evangelion is almost gone. Psychology Philosophy all that is lost, or nearly. Asuka? My favorite character was in love explicitly by Shinji. (She was not that kind of girl) Worst is that she replaced Touji in that EvAngel battle, not original and not funny. The alternate bersek(?) mode was cool, but just at first touch. Can somebody explain to me how that Makinami can fully control the Asuka eva, as it was just a simple robot? Even at first contact... Oh god (Souls are lost too??). I missed too the old songs, but the new ones are not that bad. Except that I didn't especially appreciated the final one and the EvAngel one. The HD is welcome, but thats a simple extra I think so. The new character is ok, but because that non stop action we couldn't see much char development. Finally I think it is an awesome movie for the mecha/action/gore fans but not that much for the (original) Evangelion fans that usually liked the original because much more than that. Good today, but probably forgot after some years like much of the animes that reach the top and fall without stop. Sorry for any English errors. |

This isn't just an update we don't people get this at all? This is a re-imagining it's not suppose to be like the original, If you want it to be like the original watch the original. Probably one of the best action and gory movies that I ever seen. BUT the essence of the Original Evangelion is almost gone. Psychology Philosophy all that is lost, or nearly. No it wasn't, it was all there and then some it was just far more focused, more mature and actually made sense now. Shinji is not mr. emo teen wallowing in his own self pity anymore, he's a young man struggling angst society and trying to fight the system he does not agree with.2.0 Is about set backs, that for as many steps you take forward, some times you might take 2 step backs. Asuka? My favorite character was in love explicitly by Shinji. (She was not that kind of girl) No she was, just now she actually has courage to say she's lonely and she wants some one other then her self to give her the affection she never had before. Worst is that she replaced Touji in that EvAngel battle, not original and not funny. Wasn't meant to be funny and it was better then the original. Touji didn't make any sense in the original, they suddenly find out he's capable of syncing with a eva and they put him in an untested eva that never never built, then after the incident he just goes back to being a normal kid. Yea sure makes perfect sense. Auska made alot more sense and gave the entire situation massive depth. It took alot of balls to pretty much take out a major character. The alternate bersek(?) mode was cool, but just at first touch. Can somebody explain to me how that Makinami can fully control the Asuka eva, as it was just a simple robot? Even at first contact... Oh god (Souls are lost too??). She was probably it's original test pilot when it was in development. I missed too the old songs, but the new ones are not that bad. Except that I didn't especially appreciated the final one and the EvAngel one. then watch the original. The HD is welcome, but thats a simple extra I think so. What? The new character is ok, but because that non stop action we couldn't see much char development. She was just introduced, what kind of character development do you want? We still have 2 more movies to go, there will be plenty of chances for her development. Finally I think it is an awesome movie for the mecha/action/gore fans but not that much for the (original) Evangelion fans that usually liked the original because much more than that. It's not really meant for the original fans, like I said, if you want it to be like the original watch the original. This was Anno doing some thing new with old property. Good today, but probably forgot after some years like much of the animes that reach the top and fall without stop. Probably not, Rebuild can easily emerge as the greater work. Sorry for any English errors. |

"Uh where you even watching the movie? This isn't just an update we don't people get this at all? " I got that. That surely don't forbid me to give my opinion and make comparisons. No it wasn't, it was all there and then some it was just far more focused, more mature and actually made sense now. -Sorry, but it haven't. It merely focus in Asuka tragic story (does it??) for example and Rei-self questions, philosophical questions are a minority and all this occurs with a such fast pace for the action take the show. No she was, just now she actually has courage to say she's lonely and she wants some one other then her self to give her the affection she never had before. -Opinions. She wasn't the same person and I didn't liked. Touji didn't make any sense in the original. -Did Shinji? Did Asuka? Personally I would like to see him as part of the eva team, instead of Makinami (if she is really part of the team). She was probably it's original test pilot when it was in development. -Good point, but even so she was full controlled the eva that has Asuka mother soul, Its hard to image that without being Asuka, since are needed very high levels of mental synchronism. then watch the original. -I watched and that don't prevents me to make comments and comparisons with the original series. What? -What what? She was just introduced, what kind of character development do you want? -More than we got surely. When Asuka appears in original series she got a decent characters development, even in just 25 minutes. But I agree we will see more of her in next r-movies, but this critic is not only to her character but in the general, that happened too in 1.11. Probably not, Rebuild can easily emerge as the greater work. -I surely doubt, but I will take my doubts when I see the next 2 movies. :) |

im a fan of the original Evangelion but i like the new Rebuild Movies more and i think this is not just a re-imaginig but also a sequel just observed the words of kawaru his phrase like "third impact AGAIN?" and "THIS TIME ill make you truly happy shinji" the Rebuild Movies are more awesome to me its streamlined version of the series with new twists and its easy to follow even to those who havent seen the old Eva tv series and End of Evangelion movies thats my opinion also whats great above this Rebuild movies is i think you can view it as a re-imaging a standalone experience to the Eva world or can viewed as sequel for people to be curious to watch the TV series and End of Evangelion movie |

-Sorry, but it haven't. It merely focus in Asuka tragic story (does it??) for example and Rei-self questions, philosophical questions are a minority and all this occurs with a such fast pace for the action take the show. To be frank, anyone who attempts to justify, or in your case underwhelm, the philosophical merit of a show is simply going to fight a neverending battle. One could argue that the way you perceived this movie's "philosophical questions" is a reflection that what you can see is limited, lol. Remember that philosophy is subjective, both in explicating one's ideas and in interpreting another's. |

I'm a huge fan of the original and I love Eva 2.22. Some people are just too picky. See, the old series isn't going to vanish, if you want the old stuff you have it. The visuals have held up incredibly well in the original and it still feels a lot darker. The new series is a re-imagining as said, if you want the same thing again, you're just being silly. What 2.22 gave fans is more intense fights, Asuka, an interesting new story, or even take on the story and a whole new character. The old characters have been given more likable personalities such as Shinji fighting instead of crying (Still, whether hes sad or angry, he'll destroy the world). I can't complain, nostalgia is an enemy and if you're affected by it then its hard to take opinions seriously. |

For me, this is basically Evangelion "done right". I've always believed that the original series reflected highly on Anno's state of mind at the time of conception, and what we got from that were characters with psychological issues that left the viewer feeling terrible by the time it finished. I'm not going to lie- I escaped to Evangelion fanction after watching EoE, because it was just way too depressing for me. Of course, I'm not implying that this is true for everyone! With this movie, it almost feels like a number of those fanfics- Gendo isn't a complete ass, Rei displays some semblence of emotion and Shinji...well, let's just say he's a more likeable character. I have no idea if the storyline is a sequel to the original, but for me, this is the Eva I hoped I would get eventually, and I'm god damn happy about it :) Edit: I heard a lot of music from Kare Kanno as well, which was just awesome. Kudos to Shiro Sagisu for that. |

OH MY GOD. THAT WAS FUCKING AMAZING! i think this remake was fantastic. i loved the tv series, but this one was on another level. it was definitely better than the first previeous one imo. i liked how the reinvented the characters somehow, especcially with Asuka and Ayanami. i mean, they were not the stereotypical characters from 10 years ago, and somehow, with this remake, they matured a little bit too: Rei was more human like (something i've only seen in doujinshin XD), and Asuka was less tsundere-ish and stubborn than her old self from the tv series. if they'd kept this rhythm with the series, i bet it'd have turned into a harem anime sooner or later XD. oh yeah, the new character Marii also deserve some mention. mmmh, it's too soon to judge her character imao. we need more background information about her. in the meanwhile, one word: SADOMASOCHIST :D and again, they changed some angels' design. i don't mind, actually. the new angels were cool. the most memorable fighting was surely the last one. it was sooooo GURRENLAGANN-ish. the "new" Shinji is welcome. i've always hated his complexes in the series >_> it's sad i gotta wait another year to see the next one. T_T 11/10 |

Incredible Movie. The action amazing, and I love the characters even more now! Mari Illustrious Makinami is just awesome as well, love her character, shes pretty crazy in an EVA XD. The new angel designs were more intense, as well as the fights, loved that. The main characters seemed to be more.. close to each other. Mood is more lightening and that just made me happy =D 10+/10 |

Just watched it and loved it. I LOVE the re-telling of this and can't wait for the next one. But man, world is ending? But the preview says otherwise. All I know is some serious shit is gonna go down! I also really like how the characters' personalities have been tweaked to make them more likeable, Shinji is more heroic, Rei more human and Asuka less of a bitch. All welcome changes in my books. I'm curious how the next movie is going to portray Kaworu, it seems that in 3.0 is when he is going to have a bigger more important role. All I gotta do now is wait for the greatness to come. x3 |

I liked it a lot but I think this film ruins Asuka, that and the story changes are starting to make me sad. It's nice to make it a bit less dark but I think that darkness is what made the story flow the way it did. I really miss the scene where Shinji thought about kissing Asuka, the way they reinserted that made me ill. I miss her old personality and her flaws, I just don't feel them in this one at all. But oh well its nice to see some freedom with the story but its hit and miss. ----------------------------- Upon re-watching this again, the new story changes were actually a lot of fun. Some of the character elements still bother me but then again I could be acting like a bitch about this. |

This was the most amazing anime movie I've ever seen, it blew my mind away. From the characters, to the quality of the animation and the soundtrack, to the over the top action, it was all perfect. I don't know if I like this new aproach to the story better than the original Evangelion (for instance: the scene where Eva 01 goes berserk on Eva 03 felt a little more disturbing in the series, but in the movie it is superb nevertheless, in a different way), I just know that if I ignore the original events, this new direction is simply out of this world and totally worth the revamp. For me the greatest improvements so far are the work they have done with Shinji and Rei (and I never cared much about Asuka and her personality, in fact I like her better in this movie), it's really developing into something beautiful, and then the work they have done with the angels, truly otherwordly and mystical entities that really make you feel it's an impossible struggle. I really liked the way they ignored the angel in the magma and brought us a much more fearsome and unique beast of a 10th angel. In short, I'm not saying it's better or worse than the original Evangelion, just that it's too good, whether you compare it to the TV series or not. |

OMG... I have no words... It's just fucking amazing! 2 hours of perfect animation and beautiful sound in BD quality blew my mind away. Also second rebuild had some surprises for me. Asuka. Yay, tsundere as always ^^. My favorite character in TV, and now I like her in rebuild too) But I expected more interactions with Shinji, because I like this couple~ BTW I had a strong nosebleed when she was in test suit <3 Mari. Wow... Really didn't expect that meganekko will be so badass. Beast mode is very nice. I don't compare original TV and rebuild. 11/10 for me. And waiting for Asuka in Quickening ^^ |

StudioJC said: I have to say that I was very pleased with this movie. The first was sort of meh due to re-used footage but this one was yay because it's 99% new as well as the ok pacing of the new-ish storyline. I thought Asuka was out for good. From the preview, it seems like she'll be back in pirate form. If they killed Asuka, I would seriously lose my shit. I thought that too when that happened to her I was like FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU. I raged for a little while after and then ate some cupcakes to subside the pain. |

Dear lord... this was definitely a 10/10 for me. Rei is so incredibly moe right now that hospital doctors will be waking me up on a daily basis. I was confused on the name change for Asuka but that was nothing that bothered me too much. I think Gurren Lagann seriously influenced Shinji, since his ending scene was pretty damn GAR. Mari is quite interesting to say the least and I hope to see more of her in the next movie. The animation is amazing and the soundtrack as well. I was a bit worried that they would overuse their signature dissonance in this movie but it ended up working really well. Some scenes just made me stop my video player, to close my mouth and commence breathing. Argh I can''t wait for the next movie =D |

Well... this occurred to me, sure this is a different story with some basis on the series, however, could it be that it's still in the same universe, but in a different timeline/dimension? I mean the kid angel could have some sort of power that allows him to manipulate space/time. |

All I say is: I told you so. And (for mods): Might be time to adjust the links from "alternate version" to "prequel" on NGE. :p |

It was a great remake of the TV series (although that is still better), and the ending was brilliant, but it still felt rushed. There is little character development in this, especially between Shinji and Asuka. And while I could be wrong here, but im sure that at this point in the TV series, we're 3/4 of the way through. And theres still two movies left! Overall: Very good but some people give me the impression that the spectacular ending leaves them with the same reflection on the whole movie, so you could call it over-rated up until the end, as the ending is the only thing that the movie improves on thoroughly than the series. *awaits flame :/* |

I love it!!.... ...BUT who messed up with Shiro Sagisu?!?!?! I was having that AWFUL BLEACH feeling with some of the music...THE NEW ONES! Specially the one with the kids (who change his mind to create something like that!?!? Give him baaack T-T hahaha) and the ones for the fights...it was...too Bleach...But I know there would be many that would like it, but in my individual case...GIVE HIM BACK! It was a 5 stars and because of that it wasn't perfect score for me T-T bau. ahhaha (You can realize I'm a BIG Shiro Sagisu fan...je!) |

I really hope you're joking saikou. Shiro Sagisu did the music of the original TV series and End of Evangelion. Of course he'd be doing the music in the Rebuild movies. |

Yeah Shiro Sagisu did do the music for the movie, don't really know what you mean. All they did was remake all of the old songs and add some new ones. I think the use of music was perfect considering the pacing, gives off the same vibes as Komme Susser Todd. |

Well, the Eva 2nd movie's ratings have given me hope that it will be made with more ideas than just a compilation of several pieces from different episodes with a little bit of novelty in its plot, but what I saw had washed my hope away. Maybe there are some knew plot branches, but: 1) There is no "old" atmosphere. All that was epic became bombastic, and fights are too fast. 2) Rushed type of storytelling. It seems that there are many clipped scenes and the author wanted to insert as mush as possible in this work. 3) The new art style looks good, but modern "soft" picture can't give the feeling of rough, sharp surfaces or colossal buildings. All seems kinda toy, even Evas are like f*cking Transformers or smth. |

So your qualm with the first movie was that it was just a compilation movie for the most part, and it you wanted it to be different. Your qualm with the second movie was that it was too different from the original series and lost the old atmosphere, due partly to the new art style and rushed (and NEW!) storytelling. I must say. You are insatiable. |

It's a Japanese folk's song from the 70s, and it just so happens that both Anno and KyoAni decided to use it in their anime. Incidentally, this is also the case with the other insert song they used when Unit 01 destroyed Unit 03. |
