  • post your favorite tunes of 1970s (and late 1960s).
  • share the song you feel like listening to right now.
  • info share, smalltalk
Though the 1970s are considered the golden age for rock, there still are many songs we don't know. Let's go to isekai and explore the dungeon to find treasures.

As a self-proclaimed incest legalizer, this gotta be one of my favorite rock songs of the 70s:

This one gotta be high up as well:

A strange thing here in Greece is that Uriah Heep is REALLY popular. Like they rival Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. Not complaining. Great band.

Speaking of people who are VERY popular around here, here's legendary Irish singer/guitarist Rory Gallagher.

And a local band. It's world famous composer Vangelis on keyboards and world famous singer Demis Roussos on vocals. The album is actually 100% Christian-friendly despite the title.

From my favorite 70s album:

A Kiss song because Ace died yesterday:

And some bonus tracks I like with no personal commentary:

nice Rhodes piano >the Doors

@Theo1899
Actually, I had 3 candidates for the cover of this thread: Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Rainbow since they are icons of HR then.
Uriah Heep is not so popular here. My favorite tune is this:
Look at Yourself (The sleeve design of the LP is impossible to render through monitors.)
666 is only known among prog fans here. But Vangelis is a popular synth artist.

@Retro8bit
Though I didn't know the artist's name and the context of the song, I knew the impressive melody. a good song.

My favorite song from the 1970s would be "Us and Them" by Pink Floyd.
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

Oh nice, a topic for something I very much love. Outside of anime, one of my other passions is classic rock (mostly the 60's to 80's, but I have an enjoyment for every decade of rock)

My alltime favorite 70's song (and song in general)

Derek and The Domino's - Layla

My favorite 70's band

Led Zeppelin

Favorite 70's album

The Who - Who's Next

Massively underrated 70's track

Alkana - The Tower

Favorite KISS track (RIP Ace)

Most recent 70's track I was jamming to

Starz - So Young, So Bad

@Retro8bit As great as American Pie is, I've always been more of a fan of his other hit, Vincent

To be honest I don't fully myself, but as you said it's such a relaxing and iconic song.

The song has a comfy tone despite the lyrics. This song also has a comfy tone like falling rain at its beginning - Hey you:
and don't forget to drop by prog thread sometimes.

@Toadfan64
The Who has very low popularity here. (Actually, I don't know much about them as well.) This is a tune I like - Overture from Tommy:

Second post - DEUTSCHLAND EDITION.

Neu! were formed by two former Kraftwerk members. They were pretty big in the German experimental scene of the early 70s.

From the same scene we have Eloy. Eloy is one of my dad's favorite bands. They were fairly popular here in Greece. Love the drums on this, very Neil Peart. Also yes they can barely speak English. It's a joke in the Eloy fan community as well.

The drummer on the above track was in Scorpions for a few years. This was Scorpions' first international hit:

You know that clean arpeggio kinda sounds like this song which also happens to be one of my favorites from the 70s. Not a German song but who cares I love it.

second round? great. As many times as you like. It's wonderful if these threads would become like internet radio stations.

Here is a Scorpions' song I like: Pictured Life
The original sleeve design may be prohibited in many countries.

--- because of my limited knowledge, the following is German prog.
From "Inventions for Electric Guitar"
Performed by electric guitars only.

Novalis - Wer Schmetterlinge lachen hort
Sung in German.

Dagmar Krause - On Suicide
Her voice has a overwhelming presense.

The following is Deep Purple's tunes I like. They were very popular, though I don't know current trend. I guess people don't have much friends to talk about music after graduating school or college.

Didn't like Achilles Last Stand very much at first, but it grew on me over the years.

My favorite Led Zeppelin song has been The Rain Song (1973) for a while now. It's so warm and mellow, like huddling next to a small fire. Perfect for the cold, rainy season right now.

yeah, it's likely. Achilles has a unique structure as a popular music. It's a long tune, but it keeps similar heavy riff from the start to the end, and vocal and guitar ride over it. It's for prog or psychedelic rock fans.

@kuroneko99 The Who are great, highly recommend at the very least Who's Next and Quadropenia for albums to check out. Their 60's stuff is also worth checking out, especially at least a few songs like My Generation, I Can See For Miles, and The Seeker.

Come And Get Your Love by Redbone. Redbone is one of my favorite bands and this is one of my favorite songs from them. You may recognize this song from the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. That's actually how I was introduced to Redbone.
If I had to choose between One Piece and a girlfriend...I think I'll go with One Piece
