are you able to learn from your own (or others') mistakes? Humans are seldom wise enough to learn from others' mistakes. This is how history repeats itself and on the individual level we fuck ourselves up. There'd be so much less suffering if only a warning or a cautionary tale were enough to set us straight. We're more like small animals who only learn their lesson when it comes at the price of pain, particularly lasting pain. |
| I had a teacher who once told me, " you're going to fuck up a lot in life but what matters isn't the number of times you fall, it is whether you understand when and why." It is fine if you mess up once, twice, a third or a fourth time as long as each failure teaches you something new about yourself. But my stupid ass didn't listen to him and i ended up making the same mistake 3 times for the same reason and now i regret it |

| Both, don't hurt your foot again by walking incorrectly, and you see other people mess their life up with something (you have a thought of that it could be) so you avoid following in their footsteps, as you get more critical you understand more in yourself and others. |
