EDIT: Nah let me rant about this one for a second. It's really fucked up how this completely warps your brain. Sometimes I get like this where I am aware of how it looks to others and I get a really hollow sinking feeling in my gut that immediately pulls me down like an anchor. | all of the "political violence has no place in the us!" comments are driving me insane, not because i disagree with the statement, but political violence happens all the goddamn time and politicians don't do shit about it, and especially not republicans. george floyd was a big standout thing, but that's because it was caught so clearly on camera and was so clearly egregious. he's just one of many people who have been killed, and for what? being a black guy? people get killed like this all the time for being indigenous, for being trans, for all these base things that shouldn't matter, and very obviously shouldn't be a cause for being killed. not to mention all the political violence coming from ice towards people who are largely just trying to look for a better life and are otherwise minding their goddamn business. and yet now that it's a white guy with questionable opinions, people are losing their goddamn minds. again, part of that because it happened in such a public way, but still. hell just a couple months ago we had democratic state legislators attacked, and it doesn't get more political than that. and yet people are reacting then less than they are now. god i wish we had no political violence, but you know what that would require? at the very least, strict gun control laws (and preferably some sort of buyback program that decreases the number already in circulation), and a sharp decrease in the homophobic/transphobic/racist rhetoric going on. and to make all things fair, decreasing the angry rhetoric from both sides people are shooting at each other. but we all know all that's never going to happen smh so don't say in shock now "political violence has no place in this country" when you aren't stopping to acknowledge/think about all the other everyday instances of political violence and what it would actually take to stop political violence in this country. |

| Talking to one of my old school friends is fun because I told her I’m trans and want to be called by a new name and she said she accepted me. She was a little confused, she’s sheltered, but says she’ll accept me, so I officially changed my name on messages. | Since 15, the internet was wide open and unrestricted. By 17-18, I was already tangled in storms of drama I barely understood, too young to see how easily I could be led, too stubborn to admit how unformed I was. The drama involved friends I’ve made on MAL. No language is vast enough to express my disgust at myself. Stupid? Yes. Groomed? Possibly. The shame of immaturity, the bitter truth that in my stumbling, I hurt multiple people. And that sorrow lingers, a quiet weight I carry. I wish I didn’t have such internet access. |

| As someone with a similar experience;view as you, @lolita, I think you should not loathe your younger self and all the mistakes/events that have happened, even if they're nothing but unpleasant memories. Gotta appreciate that everlasting feeling of shame and disgust; after all, they are a reminder to not act like your past self ever again. If it wasn't for appalling experiences, who knows if you'd ever be shaped as lovely as you are now. |
