Sato wtf. Why are you so down bad man?

Thanks to Hitomi there's now a stupid misunderstanding between Sato and Misaki. God she's so ungrateful. Well Misaki indeed had a traumatic past and I'm guessing her father must've called her worthless over and over. So she tried to prove her father wrong by convincing herself that she's the only one that can help Sato.

Its not a good thing when they start to blame gods for everything , they are basicaly blaming the only thing they cant reach , its like complaining about existence itself , you know the hikikomori thing when anime started , sato was talking about the reality being fake , controled by alliens

Gods... just like misaki i think they are inhuman (they zrent after all) so i wish theres no gods when i dont need them

I dont want anyone to watch me while im f@ping on misaki

I actually find Hitomi/senpai as an intriguing, complex character in this story. Despite her probably being the root of Satou's conspiracy paranoia, she appears as his only friend, to whom he can comfortably speak to, especially
when expressing his sentiments about his sorry NEET existence.

During those past episode flashbacks, it can be observed that Hitomi most likely had a genuine attraction towards Satou. She does those little hair flips while speaking to him (again when she chances upon him years later at the smoking room). She suddenly mentions loaded statements ("are you sure you're ok with this?....about us?) which she mixes up with nonsensical banter (probably to mask her true feelings while in front of him). Satou's density at that time didn't help either.

She did fire point blank at him by asking if he would feel sad if she died. Also asking if he was glad that she broke off with that basketball guy. All in order to validate if Satou had the same feelings for her. Obviously the poor guy probably wasn't emotionally mature give her the response she was waiting for.

Years later, during his flashbacks , Satou realizes his importance to Hitomi. I wonder how he felt about her after they had (implied) graduation farewell sex in the clubroom.

This episode shows the bittersweet ending of their relationship. Without actually getting physically intimate, and even with that amusing shadowy conspiracy exchange of words, their unspoken feelings kept after all those years came across.

This anime is very well written and is easily one of my few favorites. I plan to read the novel although it may most likely deviate from the anime version.

p.s.

Some scenes in that episode are actual locations in real life. The love hotel where they were supposed to stay in is the Bird Hotel located at the Dogenzaka area of Shibuya. The footbridge where they said goodbye is in front of the old Tokyu Plaza building beside the Shibuya station.

again, misaki acting like sato needs her to live is a bad mindset from the very beginning.

lets see how this moves on

Without change,we end up becoming the very person we hate.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was bound to lead me to a slow death.

So, Misaki is a dystheist. Overthrowing god is the most ambitious goal.

“If God really existed, it would be necessary to abolish him.”
“If God existed, only in one way could he serve human liberty — by ceasing to exist.”
“The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.”

After all....satou is the prisioner of misaki?
His thoughts of going to a hotel with senpai can be seen pretty unnecesary, but i remember that satou still in love with him, but no satou no she's crazy, every girl in this anime have a lot of red flags poor satou every woman that he has met have a dark thing that ends in satou damaged T_T

The one to deserve sympathy is that senpai's boyfriend ... She's totally insane and unstable.
@Forough yeah she’s very narcissistic - betrayed his trust by taking him on the suicide trip and showed no remorse after they survived, and now has the confidence to invite him out for a drink again just to talk about all her problems.

the writing for the characters is very good - yamazaki is a great, complex character very nerdy / poor social skills yet bold and charismatic.

and it turns out his senpai is projecting all her insecurities about being unwanted on him. Shame he’s too dull to stay away from these girls

I knew Jougasaki-san deserved better, she is a cheater and I feel bad for their child, having a depressed mother SUCKS.

"If god exists why bad things are happening" gotta be one of the lamest tropes ever, can't take this sh seriously.

I've given up hope on Satou, the way he ignores Misaki and does absolutely NOTHING. You said you are in love with her. She saw you with senpai. You explained nothing. She had a breakdown infront of you. You did nothing, said nothing. "She always had such strange behavior" BRO. GO JUMP OFF THAT CLIFF.

I hate senpai. She's such a selfish piece of shit garbage human. She's a horrible influence on dumbass Sato who can't see it for himself. She's going to have a baby but wants to have an affair? And she has a rich fiance who has a nice job that pays really well but sometimes he's absent and she wants to have an affair because of that? Bruh, get it together. And at the same time, she's actually happy? God I hate her so damn much. She never said that she liked him and he never said it either. Its unfortunate.

Misaki has a right to be upset, but she could've just said yes to the shrine visit. Sato is a dumbass who doesn't like confrontation so he's not going to ask Misaki why she's upset. So instead, she acts edgy. Sato tried being playful with Misaki but then immediately shut him down. During their "therapy" session she just kept rambling about how god was bad and how she saw Sato and senpai at the hotel. She didn't directly ask him and he didn't really press on the matter either because he's literally incapable of standing up for himself or going against what someone else says. Now because of Misaki being so damn negative, Sato thinks the new year will be any good. I kind of see where both sides are coming from, but people also need to give Sato a break. He has absolutely no clue what his actions are doing because he's unaware due to lack of human interaction for so long. On top of that how are people excusing the fact that she keeps saying that he NEEDS her otherwise he'll die.

Now Yamazaki is going to become an alcoholic.
As a wise man once said, "No one hates anime more than anime fans"

Thinking in the mind of a NEET, I get and understand why Satou left Misaki mid episode and left with Senpai. I mean when your in the situation Satou's in, all lost and scared and then someone comes to save you, your first thought it to just go with them because they just saved you obviously.

Poor Misaki though. Girl was just left all alone herself for the rest of the episode. And worst of all, SHE SAW MR. KITTY DIE.... NOOOOO.

damn its like misaki went kinda like satou in a way but much worse. questioning if god was evil, and such. it is actually kinda worrying about misaki behaviour and wanting satou to become his "prisoner" its like she can't live without him.

Holy double jebait, obviously I'd never fall for something this uncalled for but thanks for the senpai tits peek nonetheless.
I'm a convinced the author has some weird opinions about women because all female characters in the show have been written like absolute schizos, there is an obsessive autist, a pill-poppin depressed paranoiac and a emotionally unstable manipulative scam artist.
I'm quite disappointed in a way I don't find any of them remotely compelling as characters, they fill so empty despite taking a huge part of the show. The script might switch too much inbetween positivism and nihilism each episodes which leaves a huge interrogation in the actual point of the plot throughout the episodes, I'll wonder what's next to come.

I dislike it when shows shed a bad light on God, it really rubbed me the wrong way hearing Misaki talk about that. God does not personally ignore bad things, or cause them. Although I can understand why she may feel that way, I can’t agree with it, it’s too bad sato still does not have the decency to speak up when people need his support, she needs someone to tell her it will be okay, or even it’s okay to not be okay, but you don’t have to go at it alone. Idk anything, just say something dude 😭.

I really liked this episode, certainly one of the best. It shows Misaki in a very raw way, as a preparation for the breaking of her mask. She has always had this thing about feeling useless, and that’s why she leans on Satou: if he is even more lost than she is, then she can feel a little “needed” (this has been hinted at from the start — episode 6 and episode 13 are probably the ones that give the strongest clues about this strategy of hers for self-validation). The cat’s death is a clear device that symbolizes her sense of powerlessness and her growing uselessness to others.

The speech about God is also a central point: Misaki reveals the impossibility of blaming a divinity, since she believes that God does not exist — as Satou also seems to believe — and with that comes the painful necessity of fully assuming the moral responsibility for the condition of her own life. It is a direct contrast with the illusion of people like Satou, who find relief by attributing their situation to grand conspiracies. Misaki, on the other hand, has no such consolation — for her, there is no one and nothing to whom she can transfer the blame.
I can see many echoes of different philosophical approaches here (e.g., the problem of evil and the idea of a malevolent God), as well as philosophical pessimism (e.g., the discrepancy between happiness and sadness). Philosophical pessimism was always clear, especially considering that the authors Misaki was citing, like Freud and Jung, drew heavily from the influence of pessimistic philosophers such as Arthur Schopenhauer.

It really is a great concatenation of many elements introduced earlier to describe the character’s philosophy and psychology in parallel with the protagonist’s condition.
