Another outstanding episode! I'm sure! Probably! (I may or may not be slightly busy when this one airs but want to post this thread first anyway eheheh.)

I've decided I want to ask a question each week with these, so for this week my question is this - in the eventual hero tournament (which I think will likely happen around episodes 11 and 12) who does everyone think will win, and are those the same as your favorite hero?

(I don't use MAL forums much, do people ask questions like this much? Idk lol.)

Well I am honestly really confused about the status of Moon. Was it a dream, a vision of the future, an alternate reality, or something else that Nice saw at the end of last episode? Regardless, this episode was an interesting look at Moon's character. I appreciated how she felt trapped as an accessory to Nice and wanted to finally be free again - this seems to be the key feeling of most of the heroes and villains shown so far. They are all forced to ever increasingly play into a role that is predetermined for them rather than live out their own dreams. This was the same for Nice's rival this episode too, who seemed to feel genuine sadness at the death of Nice given their history and original shared dream. The action was brilliant again this episode; it was stylish, snappy and overwhelming in a good way. It seems at this point that the art style change is purely for aesthetic reasons, with it switching for the fight. Whilst it is a little jarring it looks great so I can't complain too much. The interviewer from last episode showed back up at the end so it seems he will be somewhat of an ongoing antagonist, especially now that he is teaming up with some kind of evil organisation.

@InfinityDude88 There's a couple theories bouncing in my head. Obviously she could have been replaced like Nice was but I think that is unlikely. She could be replaced and impersonated by a villain but that also seems unlikely as she knows Nice isn't real.

I don't really have any good theories at the moment but my best (stretch of the word) is that it has something to do with the trust power of Heroes. I don't know what I think that is but I think it is involved

This was GREAT! I'm blown away at the depth of the emotions here. But I wish Moon had actually stayed. I think they really connected more than the *REAL* Nice did. That was just a contract. Here it was genuine friendship in the end.

who is that dead moon in the last episode then?

and the ending song is about spotlight eh reminds of the spotlight effect https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotlight_effect

the spotlight organization is about the power of fear too so the spotlight effect is link with them

is 2d animation or world about idealism while 3d animation or world about realism or even nihilism?

@Bladez190 I wonder if it was just a regular night terror or if Spotlight would leverage against him in the future.

@Eragonnogare I don't think so. It's already announced that each character will get a few episodes. Like Nice only takes the first 4 episodes.

I really do wonder about X. You hear the click when the fight scene starts.
Do these villains also get trust value? Spotlight use fear but Nice's nemesis didn't look like it. Why does he have trust?

@deg yeah, nice has always been able to fly. That's why lin was confused when nice just fell instead of flew.

@deg Nice is constantly flying in almost every scene. Including flying down slowly behind Lin before committing suicide.

Good episode, enjoyable, can't wait for another one, still unknown for the cliffhanger of the previous one I guess it's gonna be explained later.

@S10atMAL I think the Nemesis still gets trust, Nice is being elevated by people for being mainstream hero, so there will be always people whom hate him so they would root for his enemy, similar case to Loser Ranger where you see individuals rooting for villains in small scenes.

@S10atMAL when you say don't think so, do you mean in reference to the hero tournament happening in episodes 11 and 12? I was saying that because of the schedule they put out, which shows Queen's focus being those two episodes, combined with her PV appearing to likely take place in the setting of the tournament.

The transitions between the different artstyles in this episode were so smooth. There was a bit more humour this time around, but it was handled really well and didn't feel thrown in for the sake of it nor did it detract from the serious moments.

Really good start to this show.

I wonder if what he saw was either a side effect of his or her power. It was really interesting to learn about how the powers come with side effects, her portals getting their location screwed, his OCD getting worse, etc. Also it might be a side effect from fighting someone who uses fear as a power, afterwords you might have hallucinations of a major fear, in his case that moon had died similar to how nice had died.

Another great episode. It's somehow even faster-paced than the first one, which I did not expect at all. Personally, I feel like the pace is a bit detrimental and makes the moments that hit hard hit a bit less hard, but I guess it's necessary to cram all of the heroes' stories into 24 episodes.

This episode fleshed out the character of Moon (Xiao Yueqing in the original Chinese). I think it was executed well. I wonder if all the other heroes are in similar positions to Nice: are they controlled by other companies? I'm inclined to say no right now, because the other heroes don't look as constantly uptight as Nice is.

It's pretty interesting how the power of Enlighter – or should I say, God Eye – now comes from the fear of frauds. I guess fear doesn't have to come from good people.

I have so many questions now.
What happened to Nice's nemesis? I think he died for real, but I can't be sure. Hopefully we'll learn more about the two in later episodes. Also, how is Moon (Xiao Yueqing) alive again? I think her being dead was a dream of Lin Ling's, but why would Lin Ling dream such a thing? Moreover, if last episode's cliffhanger was a dream, it wouldn't have any plot relevance. So, it's probably more than just a dream.

Anyways, I'm waiting for best girl Lucky Cyan.

Absolute peak episode, strange that they decided to cancel the cliffhanger of ep 1 by saying it was a nightmare, however besides that the episode was really good, and i mean it.

Nice's friend has a pretty cool story there, but what really highlists is his design, i love it

The animation in the first minutes was really cool, that style was rocking for real. Besides that we got more lore, we get the pov of the heroes and how their lives literally suck so hard they prefer to kill themselves than to keep living them, that's deep shit

I won't go against spotlight because the heroes organization is dark too, miss j shows this darkness by making a fake world of heroes, and i find that really perturbing.

Overall, peak everything from the 3d animation to the 2d animation and the fight was really good as well. If that's all of Moon's character, I won't argue, that was an stellar development in 24 minutes for her!

Well I wasn't expecting the dream fakeout this time around. I really thought it was trying to set a darker tone for some kind of revenge/mystery story. A bit disappointed, but the episode was still great. Who knows; maybe it was more than just a dream.

I knew it'd be too good to be true for Lin Ling to instantly hook up with his idol. Sad for him that Moon is leaving, but you can't force her to love someone. I thought there was some yaoi stuff going on between Nice and Wreck lol. Sad for Wreck as well; gave up the role of a hero to support his best friend only to lose him. Hope we see more of him. Also, does anyone else think Enlighter/Godeye looks like (grown up) Waver from Fate?

Judging by the work of this director/screenwriter in link click, I believe that this "dream" has a meaning later in the story, I don't think he would create all this atmosphere for nothing

Characters are going very well. They've put a lot of thought into the animation transitions. Music continues to be of peak quality. I was afraid it was cliché content, but it goes quite originally. I was especially touched by the metaphors it contained, as I had been through situations that were similar.

Moon's power changing because of her fans desires is quite the costly drawback to this whole super hero thing. All it'd take is one wild internet idea or meme and their superpower is toast.

I liked the fake out as we got to see a different side of Moon, and this show's continued changing of art styles is fantastic.

Right after Nice and Moon are knowing each other better, Moon herself left for her freedom. That's a waste because I prefer the show focuses on the more grounded characters like them over the main char X who soon has a debut and seems to be a static badass

Great ep

Loved to see the growth of Nice (Lin) and Moon's relationship even if it was fake.

Animation is booming and engaging, ngl been waiting to see a anime that feels like arcane and sv badly, really got my wish. 2.5 is a godsend. 😁

Looks like we'll learn more about og nice as time goes.

Interesting ending, lets see what the rest entails.

Another amazing episode! I loved the art style and the transition as Nice prepared to fight—just perfect!

The way the story started, I really thought Moon was dead. But then hope arrived when I saw she was alive, and I was so relieved. After that, I enjoyed how the story progressed. Then the fight happened—and then it happened again. They killed Moon again, and I was like, “Nah, stop playing with my heart.” Why Moon again? But nope—she’s alive. They were toying with my heart this whole time!

By the looks of the ending, we now know our next enemy: God Eye. Sick name, if you ask me.

i was disappointed too, but knowing the director which just happens to be the one who made link click, a show known for it's inmaculate storytelling and cliffhangers, he wouldn't do that just because, you feel me?
It's probably a foreshadowing of something happening later in the series, and I'm really excited to know why it most likely wasn't a dream at all

I was actually talking about something that catched my antention in the ep with someone here in a yt video and i would like to take it here too.
The finger snap you can hear before the fight starts (and the 2d to 3d animation change) is probably related to the number one hero, X, as we saw in the op, the ed, and various trailers that his powers revolves around bending reality into other dimensions (2d -> 3d -> 2d) whenever he feels to.

With that said, we asked ourselves, how did he even gain those powers?
We know powers are gain by people beliefs, if i get dressed as a superman and start promoting myself as the real superman, i will actually become him and gain everything he represents (flying, super strength, etc). This is the Lin Ling (The current Nice) case.
Having said this, then we can assume X also was promoted as some sort of magician or god, with people falling for it he actually became it and gained those powers, here's the theory i have as there are lots of famous influencers who actually do fake tricks with edited videos and lots of people fall for it.
If this is not the case, the other comment hits it.
If people think X is able to change the world (for better) as he's the number one hero metaphorically one of his powers is literally changing its dimensions (like changing the world itself)

So the previous episode's cliffhanger was just a bait? Maybe it’ll matter later, but right now it’s just silly. So Nice just went to bed after seeing her dead? He didn’t realize she was dead until he got close? Kinda feels like they ignored it just to use it as a cheap plot tool later.
Everything happened so fast—Nice and Moon became besties in like 2 minutes. Then we got a wedding and a random villain with a 1-minute sad flashback.
But hey, at least the fight scene was good, so who cares?

Anyway, their interaction was fun at times and there were some really nice scenes.

The quality achieved in every chapter is outstanding, really got me into it from the first moment I saw this. It is a pity that the turn of Moon is over so fast, I hope to see her back in the show later, she had potential for a bigger storyline.
