| I understand that the point of the arc was Kurapika's growth, but I see I'm not the only one to find the ending anticlimactic. The show is really enjoyable overall, but there's just something missing that I can't put my finger on. Leorio is still my favorite character, but I have a bad feeling he's going to get shafted again during Greed Island for more of the "Killua and Gon Show" like the Heaven's Arena arc. |
| What an awful ending for this arc, everything on it felt so fake and incohesive, and specially too rushed! Every character decision and piece of dialogue felt so untrue, specially Gon's cringey speech at the troupe's hideout. I was so hyped for Kurapika's revenge and Hisoka's fight with Chrollo, but everything came down to nothing. Also, what's up with this show trying to humanize and "forgive" literal serial killers/genocidal people. I'm not buying that. What a shame, that was my favorite arc so far, but these 2 last episodes ruined it for me. |

| [Copied from the 1999 version discussion] Damn what an amazing ending to this arc. - Though very sad to see Pakunoda die. To think I'd actually start feeling sympathy for these "ruthless killers" was unexpected. Pakunoda was a fantastic addition as a person that wasn't just a killer but also compassionate about her friends (more so Chrollo). We see Chrollo hoping she would see Kurapika's weakness and disappointed she didn't but she did, she just really cares for Chrollo and wanted to save him no matter what, in a way Kurapika and Pakunoda are very similar. What's even more sad is that Kurapika is no closer to his mission being finished, even by incapacitating the leader there will always be more "Spiders", his hatred is what literally keeps him alive, a prisoner of his own mind. I wonder if we'll see more of Chrollo and the other Spiders as they are a very interesting group. A very somber and dark story but highly entertaining. - Definitely my favourite arc. [Copied from the 1999 version discussion] Hisoka's face figuring out he couldn't battle Chrollo was priceless. Solid and mature storytelling and some fantastic character development in this arc. I do prefer the 1999 version as I feel it went a bit more in-depth with Kurapika especially. |

| The next episode has entered the Greed Island arc? Huh.. has Yorknew reached the end? :( please tell me that this is not the end of the Phantom Troupe... what they feel now is nothing compared to the crimes they have committed.. Even so, I'm a bit sad. Not because I like Pakunoda, but because I sympathize with her desire to "save a friend" as Gon said. What she did was a betrayal of the Spiders' absolute rules, but Paku still did it because she considered the Troupe a part of her life, as well as Chrollo as the leader & a dear friend. I laughed when Hisoka lost his interest and mood after knowing that Chrollo could no longer use his Nen, lol. Also when Gon and Killua were shocked when they met Phinks and Feitan at the auction xD it was so funny. Gon finally changed his clothes for the first time. I'm so happy. :") |
