Hi, I was thinking about this question lately, and then when I recently started spending some time on the MAL Forum I thought it would be nice to hear your stories as well. I have two animes that significantly affected me to do something good in my life and career:

Shokugeki no Soma - This anime really got me into cooking when I was started watching it 10 years ago and after high school I started doing internships at 5-star hotels and learned a ton of amazing stuff and eventually started going in the patisserie direction along the way. Now I don't do this as a job but believe me when I tell you that many people love my beef Wellington and Japanese cheesecake. This anime was the reason I added a huge skill into my life that I will use for the rest of my life.

The second one is a bit funny if you think about it...

Kiss x Sis - YES I KNOW WHAT KIND OF ANIME THAT IS But I was 14 when I watched it okay? I was just a curious teenager who wanted to see ecchi animes but here is the funny part.

My math was horrible back then, and if you've not seen this anime before, two step sisters help their little brother with his lectures and exams, with a little ecchi twist. And back then I used to enjoy this anime and it gave me the courage to study harder for my math and pay more attention to it during class...
My average math note was increased from 35 to 80... and when we got our first test results back my math teacher decided to say my note loudly which made the whole class turn their head towards me and give me the "What the hell? He? How?" look and eventually it made me graduate with a much better score overall.

Would love to hear your stories about what anime made an impact on your lives!

Probably Tanoshii Muumin Ikka and Digimon Adventure.

Tanoshii Muumin Ikka is still my favorite childhood anime, and Digmon was the first anime that I saw as an adult.

Clannad and Evangelion. I used to be a cynical misanthrope who shut everyone out. But watching those anime made me realise how bad that mindset and worldview is.

I would say Hyperdimension Neptunia and Senran Kagura had a big impact on my life.

not really a big impact, but I was watching Monster near one of the worst Christmas in my life. I remember watching the last episodes and finding deep comfort in Johan, as I put my negative emotion into this story and cried through it. Then I had emotional rollecoster on the ending and well, It left an impact on me, as I could imerse myself and not think about the awful place I was living in three years ago.

also JoJo made my humor even more random so thank you for that Araki.

Link Click made me realize I'm transgender O_O till this day I haven't finished it because the gender envy is real and Lu Guang pisses me off sm because of it yet he's still one of my favorite characters of all time
yeah everything kind of snowballed from there, made me turn into a whole different person. I'm much happier now : )

the 1970s Star Blazers a.k.a. Space Battleship Yamato as my uncle would rent it when babysitting me as a kid as he wanted to his word "show me a cartoon he liked when he was my age"

Probably inazuma eleven or welcome to the nhk both are good
I've looked to make a real anime waifu,
Too spin my world around like a typhoon,
Why do people keep calling me a raccoon,
Maybe because I keep stealing anime girls hearts like gru steals the moon.

K-on motivated me to learn how to play the guitar. Sakamichi no Apollon and Hibike Euphonium motivated me to practice more often and progress in music further.
