@MyllerPhiem the funny thing is… Unlike “some people“ here… I have no problem whatsoever in differentiating between fiction and reality. @Dumb-Dumb why are YOU so obsessed with pedophilia? The show has nothing to do with it, but you keep bringing it up, seemingly hopeful that it does/will. Funny how the loudest anti-anythings (racists, gays, pedos) are generally just people who ARE those things and just feel guilty and self-loathing about them. |

@ShirikonDaichi That's the issue, though: Why "don't"? The way of the premise, it wouldn't be a problem if the husband "did". And that's the optics issue of this series. |

@ShirikonDaichi The premise is that she is his wife, a person with a, dunno, 40 year old mind. Again, people were giving Rudy from Mushoku Tensei shit, because he was a 40yo guy's mind in the body of an 8yo boy approaching a 10yo girl. And that criticism was fair, ofc. But what if Rudy had approach 18+ yo women? Would that have been ok? From his side? The woman would be a pedophile, ofc. Rudy? Not. And now here we have this anime where the 40yo woman is in a 10yo's body, but the adult guy she's approached isn't some stranger, but her husband. Someone who would NEVER approach young girls on his own otherwise. So per the premise of the show, why would it be an objective problem if husband and wife got intimate with each other? Just morally speaking. |

MyllerPhiem said: Didn't you just agree why criticism of Rudy was right? Why do you pretend to be confused? It'll be a problem since wife is in the body of a child! It seems wife has more common sense than some people here on MAL! This really isn't something that needs mental gymnastics really. So per the premise of the show, why would it be an objective problem if husband and wife got intimate with each other? Just morally speaking. To make it clear, husband CAN get intimate with reincarnated wife once she's no longer a child (18+). Sure, age gap would make it disturbing for many, but that's a separate topic. Hopefully we can agree that 60yo dating 18yo doesn't make 60yo a pedo. It doesn't matter if wife is 40yo+ mentally, currently she's still in a body of a child. Obviously the two can be verbally intimate in private if they want, but there should be no need to even discuss why physical intimacy is a NO. Again, there's no need for mental gymnastics to understand why MC getting intimate with a grade schooler wife is a problem. In Mushoku's case Rudy wouldn't have been a pedo if he waited to get 18+ physically. Doesn't matter if he starts dating 18yo or 60 yo women after, what matter is he doesn't date or touch underage girls! |

@Kimurah whatever you say. Pretty bold seeing you're mentioning anything about ignorance. Dude, who stands up for a terminally ignorant person who has such a closed view of reality that he looks for “questionable” things everywhere in fiction and art put himself as the morality police. Yeah, tell me more about ignorance. It's easier for people like you to tell others "go back to your country" than to actually try to see things from all perspectives. It's just so pathetic that it's laughable. You can't be real here. Of course it is. If someone can't assimilate, he should be deported. The constant complaining about “problematic” and “questionable” things has become so pathetic and tiresome in the recent years that if you still think gatekeeping is a bad thing, I just feel sorry for you. You're sticking with a fandom built on a love of things, concepts and culture that is vastly different from what a parochial person who has probably never even left the border of his state (or even state) is used to. For any sane and reasonable person, the matter is simple - either I accept a different reality and view of foreign art, or I do not consume something I am not a target audience. Your mention of the glued banana is laughable. If I don't like a certain type of art, I don't go to exhibitions related to it and I don't tell people who see the point that they are mentally ill and deviant. Moreover, criticism is not about looking shallowly through one's own narrow morals and applying it on someone's art, but about presenting what specifically one does not like. I'm not going to advance this discussion. Especially after your whole tantrum about education. Nice projection. Bye. |

@MyllerPhiem says “The premise is that she is his wife” — no, the premise is that she WAS his wife before she died. Now she’s a 10 year old girl with a new family.. She is not his wife anymore, and she knows it. And he knows it. And she just wants him to get his shit together and get on with his life without her. Simple, but mentally deranged retards can’t understand this simple plot device, and just sexualize everything about it. It’s disgusting. They are disgusting. |

@LostSpectre the only “cope” going on here is yours. NEVER did I say, as you accused me of saying, that I think “anime of all mediums doesn’t have <perversions>”. SOME of it surely does (aka mainly hentai manga and anime). But that’s NOT what this dhow is; what we are talking about here is one specific title, which is doing nothing perverted. @ShirikonDaichi What did you like about the English title over the Japanese short form one? I don't generally like using the English titles anyway. Not for this case, but a lot of them are garbage translations or literally have nothing to do with the title the author gave his work. @henwens wut. This isn’t about “liking the English title”. It’s about the dangers and ultimately the social horrors of unchecked woke crybaby tourists demanding changes to things they are too fragile or low-IQ to understand. If they think anime as it is written is icky, they should GTFO. They should not demand the art be changed. Woke marxist cancer is fatal to civilization over the long haul. I'm making a prediction, everyone on this thread uses twitter. Anyways I understand people being hesitant to watch this show but based off of the first two episodes it's just filled with wholesomeness with zero "loli bait" or whatever you want to call it. It think it's silly to instantly call anyone who questions the title a "tourist" aka. not a real anime fan but at the same time insinuating that anyone who watches this anime is a pedo when nothing of the sort comes up is even more insane. @Piromysl @LostSpectre You two should do that challenge where your handcuffed to each other for a day. That would be very entertaining. |

Don’t conflate “American woke leftist anime tourists“ with “Americans in general“. Big difference. A lot of people in America still have their heads on straight, and can discern the difference between fiction and reality.
You can identify the sane ones easily, because they are the ones who don’t complain about everything, demand special pronouns, sexualize every anime title and plot, and live in a constant state of fake moral outrage

@ShirikonDaichi I agree whole heartedly. you have a few years on me, not many btw. the lack of self awareness by people that take a title at face value and think it will just devolve into some degen stuff is sad. I've watched anime since before this site came about and I had learned well enough how to find what I wanted online. I wouldn't solely blame anything on leftist woke americans as the right side has it's place in the argument as well. Not all of either side by the way. You said what I wanted to say before I could. I find the series nice as it doesn't go down the degen route. At least it hasn't yet. Not much into manga myself due to having issues focusing on small wording. You should see the ones going oh this is some pdf stuff or ok drake or diddies dream kind of cringe |

*Reads the thread So what exactly is the title difference? I translated "妻、小学生になる。" and it seems to be fairly accurate? It keeps translating to "My wife becomes an elementary school student" versus "If My wife becomes an elementary school student". @PeripheralVision it isn’t about minor translation details like the presence of the word “if“, or using the word “becomes“ versus “became”. It’s about the mentally twisted and perverted people who can’t see a title that includes the words “wife“ and “elementary school student“ without jumping to the pedophilic conclusion (without any evidence or even bothering to read the description or or watching Ep1) that it is some kind of pedo hen show. And the argument here is between those freaks and the sane people who can see that it is factually a wholesome story with a lot of touching emotional moments about loss and joy. And the post itself was made because Crunchyroll disappointingly decided to basically bury the original name (that you quoted above) and replace it with a Japanese portmanteau to give the freaks less to complain about. Freaks win; sanity loses. |

For example, the official website for the anime I believe clearly shows this abbreviation: https://tsumasho-anime.com/ Or how about its Twitter handle for the live action, which was created in 2021. https://x.com/tsumasho_tbs There is no evidence to suggest it was changed as a result of any outcry;a few people complaining on Twitter does not constitute an outrage anymore than a single homeless man rambling about tiny men in his hat suggests a widespread belief in such an outlandish conspiracy. I think the more likely explanation is just marketing tactics and not some political conspiracy. I will be honest, threads like this complaining about non existing fringe elements on social media seems pretty disingenuous, honestly. As strongly held as my own political beliefs are, I think it pays to also not be political 24/7 and to live in the real world. |

@ShirikonDaichi This is a pedo anime. Only in such anime can a grown-up woman take a stranger elementary schooler at home with her and thinks this is fine. As happened in last episode. Super fucked up scene. |

@Love_And_Forward - no, they aren’t “just prudes“. They are mentally ill, because they are still standing their ground and fighting against verifiable facts that this is not some pedo hen crap, but rather a wholesome story about family, loss, and joy. Prudes could actually learn facts and change their mind. These people are psychotically broken.
@ShirikonDaichi There's nothing wholesome about this. We have a grown man who fawns over his reborn wife, but neither are having THE discussion they should be having: "WHAT DO WE WANT FROM THIS?" Instead they're all ignoring the elephant in the room and that makes it creepy. You are a real tourist, because you're not even willing to engage in proper thoughts, wishing death penalty on other people like some asshole. Tell us: If YOUR wife was transformed into an elementary schooler's body, keeping all her original memories and personality though, would you break up with her? |

rsc-pl said: whatever you say. Pretty bold seeing you're mentioning anything about ignorance. Dude, who stands up for a terminally ignorant person who has such a closed view of reality that he looks for “questionable” things everywhere in fiction and art put himself as the morality police. Yeah, tell me more about ignorance. Hipocrisy and arrogance at it's finest. You're barfing terms like "morality police" but you yourself are gatekeeping people from expressing in a discussion forum because it contradictics your very own sheltered beliefs. Pathetic. rsc-pl said: Of course it is. If someone can't assimilate, he should be deported. The constant complaining about “problematic” and “questionable” things has become so pathetic and tiresome in the recent years that if you still think gatekeeping is a bad thing, I just feel sorry for you. Thank you. You're already digging your own grave placing yourself in the same position as a Trump supporter yelling and claiming for people with "alien" vision that differs to yours as people that should be deported out of your own state/country or should we call it a forum to which you feel entitled to kick poeple out despite having no real authority, aka the bottom dueller Karen. rsc-pl said: You're sticking with a fandom built on a love of things, concepts and culture that is vastly different from what a parochial person who has probably never even left the border of his state (or even state) is used to. Eh? I don't stick with fandoms. That's some sheep herd mentality. I'm a person with my own values and I'm free to feel empathy to those who align with those (or not) but I'm also free to reject those with an alienating and gatekeeping mentality like yours. rsc-pl said: For any sane and reasonable person, the matter is simple - either I accept a different reality and view of foreign art, or I do not consume something I am not a target audience. Your mention of the glued banana is laughable. If I don't like a certain type of art, I don't go to exhibitions related to it and I don't tell people who see the point that they are mentally ill and deviant. And this is your very own short sighted issue. You're putting yourself on a pedestal acting as some sort of role model to follow. I got news for you sweety pie, the world doesn't revolve around you and plenty of people have their own guides and are not intimidated by Karens and their gatekeeping babbling when it comes to provide criticsm for fictional works, that I should also emphasize you don't own and have no right on this level of entitlement. rsc-pl said: Moreover, criticism is not about looking shallowly through one's own narrow morals and applying it on someone's art, but about presenting what specifically one does not like. More evidence that your are sheltered or that you decide to live in your very own bubble. Criticsm goes very close to personal beliefs and education. The best critics always make footnotes that their work is quite subjective and it's heavily tied to their beliefs and metrics in order for the audience to take it with a grain of salt. rsc-pl said: I'm not going to advance this discussion. Especially after your whole tantrum about education. Nice projection. Bye. Good, because you just babbled a bunch of very short sighted karen nonsense in order to feel vindicated for being called out on your very ignorant original post about how criticism works in the real world. |

@MyllerPhiem The truth is there would be absolutely nothing wrong with them getting intimate with each other, assuming both want it. We are dealing with consenting adults here. The twist leads to bad optics, as you said, and I honestly don't get the sense that the husband is sexually attracted to his "now-ten-years-old-wife," while the wife might actually be attracted to him... but I would certainly bet that they would both want to at least sleep in the same bed. It's shaping up to be more of a tragedy than a lolicon fantasy. |

Tbh the only thing that pisses me off is that people literally downplaying this anime just because of the title alone, ignoring the fact that this is possibly one of the greatest media that depicts a form of mourning and moving on over someone you love/hold dear in your life. There are a lot of good moral aspects and life lessons from this anime and people focused solely on the MC being an elementary student and then thrashed it for being a "Lolicon" anime, like bruh. Can't people see from multiple aspects instead of one? I saw through the manga and the ending and the life lessons/messages definitely outweights the taboo/corny aspects of this series. Live action was aired a couple years back and it had no problems, it's pretty much popular that it got both LA and an anime, it's quite rare that it got a LA first but still get an anime tho, usually if it's LA first then there should be no anime. |

If Lolicon shows are "immoral" and "degenerate" (ironic words lovers of savage behavior love to throw around) then all violent shows deserve the same tag and cancellation anything that's not completely moral and normie behavior needs to go and anime itself needs too look as generic as possible too @Yui_Suzumiya69 Sagiri is not even loli she is a teen hag who probably has willingly taken many cocks already not counting his brother's only an American would think otherwise. |
