MAL is my primary anime listing and logging site, and then in addition to that but with less personal importance assigned to them by me are Anilist, Kitsu, Anime Planet, AniDB, and then for logging not just anime series but series (mainly TV-aired) in general and films in some cases, including cartoons/Western animation and live action, also The Movie Database, TrackSeries, and Simkl. Letterboxd also, but I've visited and used them a lot less in the past few years as the ads clogging up and slowing down the website got out of control.

I have few links bookmarked tho didn't use them that much, maybe someone else might find them useful:

https://animelon.com/ - learning japanese through anime and with level of difficulty being presented
https://www.malmap.net/# - cluster visualisation of relations between some anime
https://www.animecharactersdatabase.com/search.php - as the url title says

There's some series specific sites that are rather useful even if they aren't generic sites for Japanese anime as a whole

Kanzenshuu is a great resource for information about the Dragon Ball series with lots of translations of obscure interviews, guides about interesting behind the scenes stuff and obscure facts, and a collection of the latest and most accurate news for the franchise. If you like Dragon Ball this site is a goldmine and may teach you a lot of new things about the series, especially if you may have only watched the series with the older dubs.

Jojo News is a fansite that was created by older administrators of the original Jojo's Bizarre Encyclopedia on fandom that decided to break away and go independent with more accurate and up to date information being provided on the new wiki. In addition they added a news section where Jojo fans can keep up to date with the latest news on the franchise for merch drops, upcoming exhibitions, new content, and more events if some of this stuff may not be available to Western fans. The site also has translations of both old and new interviews with author Hirohiko Araki as well as other contributors to the franchise for fans to read and learn new information that isn't widely available to English speakers. The site is absolutely fantastic for Jojo fans and I'd highly reccomend it for anyone who's into the series.
This post is brought to you by your local transfem gamer goblin. Will not tolerate bigotry and will fight against "anti-woke" sentiment to make the anime community a safer place.

All I got is Anikore. It's japanese only, but it has better stats on anime with little to no Western presence, and for anime with nearly nothing on MAL, Anikore will usually have several full-on reviews for titles. It also has boards just like MAL, but I haven't explored them too much there. Basically, it's Japan's own MAL.

Not going to lie Animenewsnetwork.com use to be "THE" place to go for info on Japanese Anime on the internet even before the existence of MAL.

This site even pre-dates Anidb.net too. Animenewsnetwork.com has always been far more useful than either both Anidb.net and even MAL when MAL simply use to be called just "Animelist". The reason why was because most Japanese Anime available in the West would simply just get released directly to Physical Media for Western consumption. There was no legal streaming, and when it came to Japanese Anime, there was no need for social media around it either. This isn't even taking into account that social media was practically almost non-existent in general even in the mid 2000s.

Animenewsnetwork.com would even be helpful on where to buy the Anime one might want and even let the Users know if there was even any type of physical release even available to begin with for Western consumers. Without the existence of Animenewsnetwork.com over half of the Anime I own on physical media would have likely never been discovered at the time around the turn of the century and up till even the late 2000s when specific Japanese Anime was never even being aired or platformed for Western TV or even sometimes never offered for sale in common places to buy Anime at the time like Bestbuy, Suncoast, Hot Topic, Tower Records, etc...

It was also one of the main reasons why I never really used either Anidb or MAL until I actually started using Legal Streaming sites more frequently and didn't bother to even register on either sites till during the Pandemic to start semi keeping track of all the shit I actually had time to binge watch during those two years of the Pandemic.

Even to this day animenewsnetwork.com is still more consistent with the specific info they have always provided over the years than either Anidb or even MAL.

What's the point of that, since we have the same thing on MAL?
Actually I prefer the AniDB analogue - https://anidb.net/anime/season/?do.filter=1

Personally I never cared that much about statistics, not to mention this forces you to expose your list.

Which usually don't match the western release since those are based on the japanese airing time, not the one for the western steaming services?

Oh, I see. You should pin your preferences instead of the default settings.
I still don't have a practical use of that, but at least works better than I expected.

Just gonna answer here in case I see the need to use one of those features. But honestly MAL should consider adding some of those.
Also I still don't like the emoji reactions for the review system, they should've had something better, more clear, in mind, as currently "funny" can be for example be "hahaha this review is stupidly shit", but also "It is a good review that is humorously written". Additionally as always some people will troll around with those reactions, e.g. for a review that only hurls insults at the show, but barely says anything about it, gets a "well-written" or "informative".

Find the show and episode a screenshot is from. It even shows you a clip of it. It is muted by default but you can unmute it.
https://trace.moe/

Find an artist or identify the character and the series they are from. It can do screenshots too but i think trace.moe does that in a cooler way
https://saucenao.com/index.php

This has a glossary of Japanese sound effect meaning. They have other stuff but I found that most useful. I just hear a character say some weird double word and look it up here for what the sound they are mimicking is if left untranslated or unsure why they translated it how they did.
http://thejadednetwork.com/sfx/

Japanese language learning blog that is anime focused. They even tell you names for things like sitting positions and specific tropes and expressions. A little bit hard to find things being a blog though.
https://www.japanesewithanime.com/

This Japanese site isnt anime specific but fun to use this goroawase converter. It turns a number into words or a sentence in Japanese if there is any possible. So if you see a number in an anime and think it may mean something you can check here then try to translate the results elsewhere
https://seoi.net/goro/

Japanese language learning site that has some useful stuff like explaining what age groups would use certain slang or the way Japanese people use emoji and stuff like that
https://takashionary.com/

Yahoo Japan for Japanese searches.
https://search.yahoo.co.jp/

Front end to various machine translation sites. You can even use multiple at once so you can compare translations. It is hosted on various instances out there. Just look up Mozhi instances.

Oops I almost forgot CAMPFIRE. It is a Japanese crowd funding site and has a section labelled anime/manga. Though keep in mind a lot of the stuff on the anime page is just low budget stuff or someone trying to get money for their vtubing or something.
https://camp-fire.jp/projects/search?category=anime

Kickstarter also has anime stuff on it but hard to find if you dont use advanced search and put location to Japan and category to animation
