don't do directors cut, its only meaningful change is an added scene at the end... which is also the first scene of season 2 lol

if you can, watch blu ray up to ep 20 and 21, watch those as the original tv version, then swap back to bluray

I think it depends on how much you like the show lol. If you watch the first 2 regular episodes and think it's a banger, pick up the director's cut from ep 2. If you think it's mid, don't do that.

Director's cut has several animation mistakes fixed and one additional scene at the very end. That's about it. It's still better to watch this version.

as a rule of thumb if you can watch the directors cut then watch those

I'll go against the grain here and tell you to watch the Bluray version since I believe it to be the best experience. The director's cut version makes many scenes less impacful due to cuts in segments with the ending songs and the Bluray version already fixes the animation errors. Also, the added scene at the end of the season is literally the 1st scene in S2 so it makes 0 difference if u watch the director's cut.

@Yosakusan

This is absolutely the correct answer (watch the bluray version). Do not watch directors cut, as the person here said, the original episodes were perfectly directed for their runtime with the insert songs and unique endings, episode title cards, which bring massive emotional impact to the episodes, this is often lost in the directors cut version where the episodes are double length.

Director's Cut is poorly edited, it cuts musics from scenes making it more dull.

Blu-ray Original is always the best.

Do the Director's Cut. Animation/Artwork has been tweaked. Plus hour long episodes will make it a unique viewing experience.

@Otaku_4511

Blu-ray also has the same Animation/Artwork tweaks and is otherwise a superior experience as pointed out in other comments.

But i'm not sure if streaming services update themselves to the Bluray in all the cases. Using Director's Cut guarantees the tweaks.

The Director's Cut tweaks are extremely minor. The Director's Cut ending is including in the first episode of the second season.

Prioritize the better experience from the original series, or the blu-ray if you have access to it.
