Which two anime feel like they're creating an entire (sub)genre on their own, without anything else (you know) joining in? And is it because the same writer/director/... is involved?

>Both have a single very specific thing in common being excluded (rely more on general feeling).
>If you would consider it a simple or bad rip-off of the other series (it's not just a rip-off, it also feels like a blatant one), you may ignore it as well.
>No explanation needed if you are unable to describe it but it just feels this way.
"I don't know everything, I only know what the internet knows." - Definitely not best girl.
"To ask is a moment's shame. Not to, lifelong." - I quoted with a posed look.

Digimon and Pokémon, I know there is technically Yokai watch but the genre is largely unexplored

Hmmm in the current landscape, media as a whole has been categorized to the point where creative freedom can be extremely limiting, or rather breaking down tropes is done in a lot more nuanced ways.

This might be a cop-out answer, but Dorohedoro and its continued influence on shows with the Ironclad will to continue their "wacky batshit crazy" setting like Chainsaw Man or Dandadan could be seen as an amalgamation of various notions to create something new lol.

For actual anime directors, prominent examples could be Yuuasa or Shinbo who paved their own path through visual storytelling.

Csm part 1 and jjk. Literally the exact same characters except for some exceptions, very similar character death shock value (not saying that’s bad), same premise of character merging with a demon/devil and acquiring its powers and then being forced to join a devil/apparition slaying organization. Even kishibe and nanami had the same VA cuz they were so similar lol
