Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a short anime to binge, with a max of 12 episodes.

What is your hidden gem that is so underrated that you think everyone should watch? :)

@Faerynn

https://myanimelist.net/anime/34300/Quanzhi_Fashi - very cool & manly story about an aspiring mage flipping school & the rich people and becoming THE main character.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/38544/Egao_no_Daika - mecha war drama in a far away galaxy

https://myanimelist.net/anime/24893/Sidonia_no_Kishi__Daikyuu_Wakusei_Seneki this one is relatively popular but still I doubt you have watched it. Deep future, earth is destroyed, lots of thought-provoking things, pretty heavy to watch actually

https://myanimelist.net/anime/55102/Girls_Band_Cry - or this, if you want something more lighthearted/ slice of life (anime about girl band forming)

From the 'hidden gems' category in my stats:
Nanana's Buried Treasure
The Vampire Dies in No Time (this one has two seasons, so 24 episodes, but highly recommend if you want to have a good laugh)

Tsuritama https://myanimelist.net/anime/12883/Tsuritama
Chill show about fishing and aliens

Wasteful Days of High School Girls https://myanimelist.net/anime/38619/Joshikousei_no_Mudazukai
Underrated comedy. Really liked the cast.

Casshern Sins https://myanimelist.net/anime/4981/Casshern_Sins
Great animation; great story. Deals with immortality and death, and the hopelessness that surrounds both.

Haibane Renmei https://myanimelist.net/anime/387/Haibane_Renmei
This one is recognized as a great anime, but it's kinda been lost in time. Due to it being ~20 years old or so, you just don't see people bringing it up much.
*This one is my top recommendation*

I gave all these eight scores and I rarely see them recommended. That said, one person's (ie. mine) hidden gem is most other peoples' trash so I've never ascribed to the "everyone should watch it" point of view.

13-episode series:
Kageki Shoujo -- More under-watched than underrated. Has a 7.73 score & can't believe only 80k people have this in their list even after 3 years from airing time.
Sasameki Koto -- Why are so many good yuri shows cut off after one cour is beyond me...

1-Hour Movie:
Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus: Sei Naru Kana -- The only BL I've ever watched but I was attracted by the art style, setting and period (1880's France). Aired 1987 and only 11k people have seen it or currently watching.

1/2 Hour movies or short OVA's:
Harmonie -- First watch my only beef was the abrupt ending but after a few re-watches I'm actually ok with that now. Pretty amazing 30 mins.
Yuri Seijin Naoko-san (2012) -- Besides the humor the animating was also very good (by Tetsuya Takeuchi).
Hiyokoi -- Hiyori is seriously cute.

Shorts: (Shorts being easy targets for low scores apparently).
Ichigeki Sacchuu Hoihoi-san -- I don't know how many times I've re-watched this when I needed a quick laugh.
Fushigi no Kuni no Miyuki-chan -- There's some risqué bits but I'm sure it's just CLAMP having a bit of fun. Really catchy music in spots, too. I've always loved CLAMP's "leggy" art style.

Cheat rec's: (26 episode series):
Mouretsu Pirates -- With an alternate name of "Miniskirt Pirates" one would expect some ecchi/fanservice slop but this is actually very respectfully(?) done (no upskirt shots even in zero-g), funny, nice music, good chars I was quite taken aback at how good this was. Ok, aside from the bonkers premise (space liners allowing their passengers to get robbed 'cause covered by insurance (as an entertainment event)) but I was too busy enjoying it to go all "realism Nazi" on it. It even won a Seiun Award for Best Media :0

Gokujou Seitokai -- Even crazier premise than ^^ (ultra-rich, ultra powerful student council) with totally over-the-top slapstick humor but the real star of the show was Tamura Yukari's voice acting, not just the female mc but also her sentient puppet companion. Brilliant. Rest of the characters also well voice acted. Bonus for a pretty cool conclusion. OP & ED are also quite catchy.

BEHOLD, THE ULTIMATE DELINQUENT ANIME!!! Kyo kara Ore wa!!

10 episodes, about 43 minutes per episode. It's a hell of a fun watch.

Opinions are opinions, and differing opinions can co-exist. 🙂 But I don't do debate, life's too short to spend time debating people.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/48649 (Fuuto Taintei is good if you like Super Sentai shows)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/1288 (Patlabor is a mecha show that fell through the cracks a bit)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/2216 (Shigurui is an interesting watch. It's style and story are dark)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/40620 (Uramichi has one of the best JP voice casts I've come across)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/40752 (Bishounen Tanteidan is a visually beautiful anime)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/732 (Vampire D is the grandfather of Vampire anime)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/37426 (Sarazanmai is wild but heartfelt. Under rated as it's not really western compatible)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/1212/Oban_Star-Racers (it is actually an anime)
