| turned 18 years old, finished my fourth year of high school out of five (for once it was a peaceful one getting mostly good grades with little to no effort), and spent my very first summer home alone because my parents went on holiday for about a month (for the first time in 5 years) and my older brother was serving in a almost one year long mandatory military service (he belonged to the final draft class that was forced by law to join the army) from january to november, even if he had some days off here and there where he was able to return. It was one of the best times ever for me, even if still a ugly pathetic loser. i learned how to cook pasta and spaghetti, played non stop both Playstation 1 and 2 games, invited by best friends for the same purpose often (also to watch comedy movies, i remember Naked Gun 33 And 1/3 for example), saw for the first time ever the final episodes of Ranma 1/2 on italian MTV and enjoyed hard most of them including the 161th final, Athens 2004 were some great Olympic Games thanks to the italian basketball national team that won a very deserved silver medal and defeated even the americans in a exhibition before the tournament, damn, i'd sell my soul hard to return to that summer. And the music was great, especially considering it was the final full year of success for the italodance genre (but house, hands-up etc. etc. were also amazing as well). And this isn't even everything about this season from 20 years ago, i could go on forever praising some more moments from 2004. sq |

| began the third / final year of junior high in a new classroom after switching from A to the B course on the 15th of september, having barely finished all of my summer homework two days before because i had soooooooo much fun all season long with my new PSX, basketball and music from the radio, and a basketball tournament for the 3rd years was immediately announced on day one. i was hyped HARD, especially considering i was currently playing in a team since january, i had two strong teammates doubling down as new classmates, and the B course never won a sports tournament in the previous two years so this was the big one chance to do it (it's been harder than expected, but at the end we did) still convinced those final four months of the 20th century were my happiest moment in life the more i think about it, everything from basketball to videogames and music was exciting, all that missed in hindsight was i wasn't actually into anime yet. Millennium bug didn't scare me at all, it seemed a time where everyone's creativity seemed on top, i would have soon discovered my all time favorite videogame (Oddworld Abe's Exoddus) and Crash Team Racing was also coming soon, one more example... i saw the brand new Jamiroquai music video for Supersonic in the exact same weeks and all i could think about was... "WOW... THE FUTURE IS HERE." sq |

| ended my fourth (second-to-last in italy) year of high school on the first saturday of June, 5/6/2004. Went with a 76ers Allen Iverson black jersey and spent most of those four final hours at the gym while there were volleyball tournaments that i didn't care about... just grabbing a ball between a game and the other and played basketball alone just for fun while nobody paid attention, also as a way to cope with the fact that no hoops tournament has ever been organized by the same school after my freshman year in 2000-2001 (also... i "won" it even if actually contributing nothing). Left the building at 12 AM instead of 12:50 as i should have like the rest of the students, went shopping for second-hand videogames and music compilations (buying one from the winter 2001-2002 that i previously gifted to a former crush in late 2001) as usual, and waited at a fountain for my best friend to arrive and catch the train back home at 1:07 PM. Later that afternoon i saw on television the final game of italian basketball championship where siena won its first title against the pathetic loser second team of Bologna, and it probably was siena's only championship won without cheating unlike the ones later in the 2000's and early 2010's (but i digress) 2001 |
