Bro/sis I'm not the one who acuse others of being a cry baby just because they dislikes genres i like. You do. I never called you a idiot or anything like that for liking Rom/SoL. But you sure gets stressed from seeing me disliking it. Is everything ok for you?

Also making fun of me for having 8 forum posts while you have 1,900+. Atleast i have a life outside and do not waste so much time on here like you. Having 8 forum posts is better than 1,900+, isn't it?

So everyone on the forums that have more post than you is a low life incel? So you look down on 99% of MAL forum users? Why are you spending your time in a community that you hate?
@Spunkert You still haven't provided any argument as to why those are the worst genres by the way. Sometimes people dislike stuff which are way too relatable for them because they see themselves in them, which is why i assumed they hit too close to home for you and made you cry thus you hate them. I never accused you or others of being a crybaby just because they dislike the genres i like, you are just making up stuff now thinking something sticks and makes a solid counter argument. Show me an instance where i got stressed at you or others in this thread lol

Firstly, you are the one who made fun of me for having just 8 forum posts while you have 1,900+. I never said you or anyone in this community is a low life incel. I also never said i hate this community or that i hate spending time in this community, you are once again projecting

I hate most Rom/SoL because most of them are just plain boring. Why are you so interest in other peoples opinion? Is it so little that is going on in your life that you only find enjoyment in reading what other peoples think? Have you ever tried to go outside or drink some water? It could be healthy for your fragile mind.

You were first one to attack me for hidding scores and disabling comments like that is any of your business. And you acuse me of having no life for simply having more forum post than you. Wich mean from your logic nearly everyone in the forums have no life whatsoever. Is it really that hard for you to understand simple things like that?

I don't think so. There won't be a single objective opinion. Some people will agree, but others won't. So, to each their own.:)

i'm a rom fan and as a rom fan i would say that saying romance is the best thing ever is kinda stretching it. But to me yeah romance as a genre will be above the rest always. In general its very hard to put a genre above the rest.

I have to disagree. People have different tastes in anime genres, and what may be the best for one person might not be the same for another. That's the beauty of anime—it offers such a diverse range of genres and stories that there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Romance is missing in my life so its definitely one of my favourite genre.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

According to the general public, romance is one of the most popular media genres, and a slice-of-life is rather easy to adapt You simply watch the anime without giving it much thought or emotion. It's simple. However, I'm not a big lover of slice-of-life stories and, regrettably, find most of them to be very dull. But romance is a genre I like love.

The best genre is obviously Isekai, where you can throw together a bunch of garbage and have it still be entertaining enough to sell.

fantasy/romance can be even better imo if done right.

best genre is a really hard question, because there are so many insane crazy awesome ones. Worst genre is an easier question to answer.

Romace is probably my 4th favorite genre behind Science Fiction, Mystery, and Action.

Slice of Life I kinda have to be in the right mood for.

@omorashi

If you want a rec for fantasy/romance one of best one's I've seen is Record of Grancrest War.

Good slice of life fantasy might be the best thing possible. Frieren taught me that

I don't acc think frieren is the best but it made me realize possible potential.

imo comdey in anime is just not funny, i dont acc find it funny when a 30 yr old sniffs a 14 year olds panties, its just not funny but ig some ppl dig it.

Romance ANIMES i've come to the conclusion either are peak or SUCK. sometimes the mangakas just make a story and at the end of it i can instantly tell they've never had a rs in their life, I also just cringe pretty hard at sparkling slow motion moments where someone does something as simple as tying a shoe and its like omg i think they want to marry me. To be fair i also hate kdramas wheres thats exaggerated so i think i just hate asian romance in general.

If it's a sweet romance slice of life with no serious drama, then maybe, though that's just my preference speaking. Romance and drama go hand in hand, but I really like couples (or future couples) just having fun spending time together, no serious drama attached. One of the reasons I like Tonikawa (as far as the anime got at least. I know things really pick up later)

@Acctra I agree with you. The main couple in tonikawa get married in the first episode and its so satisfying to watch them grow and fall in love

Well, I don't think so, but I can understand why you think that way because slice of life with drama and romance certainly can invoke a lot of emotions from it's viewer but the ceiling is low since it's mostly grounded, for me fantasy is the best genre well, at least according to mal, you can check the top anime here
I cannot bring myself to rate anime that I have completed below 5. Well, it just because I have use up my precious time to watch it. so, the worse you will get from me is 5 (changes may apply)

I think these genres are the best in that they can be put into just about any other genre. Battle shonen? romance subplot and a few slice of life arcs here and there. Horror? Use a slice of life set up to make the fucked up shit even spookier. The list goes on.

I don't really agree, while a good slice of life romance can I good, I personally prefer a good fantasy for a few reasons but in the end I strongly believe that there is no greatest anime genre and that it always depends on what you like.

I find it's enjoyable but can have a lot of eh drama or eh romance or average comedy in some ways, other times not great gags. It is not the best thing ever if you don't like day to day, you don't like romance/emotional stuff, drama that's overblown or fair to cover or want action/supernatural in your slice of life shows or world building that isn't just the typical world we live in.

That's why people want to watch/read or play worlds that are historical or overblown fantasy/sci-fi and not the real world but more dramatic and only the good we seek.

I mean if people wanted typical life with taxes, work and depression or what your school was like the anime we could get those but they make them more charming or more depression fair to cover the themes than that music included to help with that or not as well.

I don't care for emotional moments but if done well yes, some are just so bad and drawn out or a 'just get it over with already'.

Some drawn out romances like Takagi-san I didn't mind, the moment to moment was enjoyable then caring if they got together chapter to chapter or filler/anime only that was really good and I enjoyed lot even more than the manga ending being so hilarious to me that I prefer the anime only ending.

In others like 3D Kanojo I remember the game I was playing (DMC reboot on PS3 I remember an inside building level I was in during S2 going on in my ear) while listening to the dub/viewing it briefly that's how uninterested I was in it. Yes both seasons. The anime was fine but many drama scenes I did not care about or any of the characters. I don't have to care about a single character but the moments just were so yep, ok sure that I wasn't paying attention for a reason.

It depends on the romance, they don't have to get together immediately but some will they won't they can be annoying, some 2 steps back can be annoying as well just say yes, not yet or otherwise and move on.

Some romance moments are alright. Some intimacy can be a bit uncomfortable while others are fair.

If people want action or enough going on then sure. If people want no world building because it has a typical world besides maybe supernatural moments some slice of life romcoms do have then sure but most are typical settings for the time period they were.

I do find some cultural/sports or town festivals kind of boring. Beach episodes/onsen episodes with no real twist to be very boring. I've seen some have great onsen twists, or just none of those filler or OVA episodes at all and have a good episodes. Or sometimes feel like manga only bonus chapter type episodes that are just so worth including as an OVA or are manga only included probably.

Some places they go and do things can be kind of boring but that's because I've seen so many slice of life anime at this point so a lot of the subtle differences can be not enough.

The moment to moment with characters is fair though and what I mostly focus on besides the dialogue and characters then the 'repeat this and that moments in a year of high school' or some workplace anime that are fair but only so much changes of their work days, the off days or otherwise between characters.

If people don't mind how easy to understand and every day life they are or how typical or not always supernatural or drama or just romance they are then sure but if people want action some may have it in some scenes but most don't so for those people no it isn't.

I may focus on romcoms a lot these days but some can just have 'what are you even thinking' in them. Anime or western films I've seen of the modern sort that some concepts are fair, but the execution is so awkward and not in a covering awkward topics way I mean just awkward to watch.

By that I don't mean the fan fiction to movie ones I mean like other ones well known actors or not but just weird approaches to rom coms these days compared to others. As someone that didn't care a lot for romcoms or slice of life work place movies or shows (with a lot of garbage that I can see the older alternative in my mind I'd seen and not comparing because I prefer old to new it's just you can see the differences and go wow that has a lot of nonsense in it) I can see why some were as good as they were back in the day and what differences I find kind of odd.

Like No Feelings was ok. Some others were eh. The one I thought of others reminded me of the female lead's job goal in an early scene of Hitch yet the modern one I forget the name of the scene was similar enough but and I think still a journalist job but the dialogue was just so bad I found it more humorous how bad it was and not because I thought the Hitch scene I'm referring to was good, it did it's job it's just how similar of a 2000s movie type approach it seemed but had none of what made it do it's job well conveyed in the modern tv show I am comparing the scene to.
