As the title says, not related to any anime
I would prefer if it's not of the 19s or black and white and not too gory

Some movies I remember I watched are the ringu movies, ju on movies, chakushin ari movies, dark water, pulse, premonition, noroi the curse, infection, all about lily chou chou, love letter, nobody knows, April story.
If you try to find out who or what I am all that's waiting for you is despair

Watch ‘Last Letter’ (which is kinda like a spin-off of ‘Love Letter’ and Hideaki Anno has a small role)

All of Japanese movies I've seen are actually live-action which are fine:
Bleach, Blade of Immortal, Zom 100,

The only thing which is not related to anime but that's a tv series is Trillion Game, it was quite fun, not to mention that even if I am not recognising voice actors by look like, I do that by sound of their voice and Tsuda Kenjirou appears in this series from I think 2nd half.

Knives Out if you really enjoy drama mystery, Rush Hour 1/2 for comedy and Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker combo, or the IP man series for Asian Martial Arts

Would also strongly recommend Kingdom on Netflix, a drama thriller with an emphasis on zombies in the Joseon Era

Edit: Disregard

There's a great musical comedy called "Dance With Me," also known internationally as "Can't Stop the Dancing."

The last couple I've seen is My Teacher My Love which is good if you like teen love films. The other I found after a few years is All The Things We Never Said which has Yuko Oshima of AKB48 fame. It was just ok.

There's a Horror Mockumentary that I really liked called "Saiko! The Large Family" that you can watch for free on YouTube, if you decide to watch it I recommend going in blind with little to no expectations and a thought in mind to keep an eye out for anything, if you like to play detective and try to figure out the truth on your own then I think you'd like this movie.

the Shunji Iwai Live action of "Hana & Alice" (2004) is also a fun watch, both actress also voiced their own characters in the recent "Hana and Alice" anime movie.

And "Blue Spring" is also a bit similar to "All about lily chou chou" in a way, very poetic, artistic piece of movie that is set in a similar setting, I think you'd dig this if you liked lily chou chou.

The only live-action Japanese movies I've seen so far are Ichi the Killer (2001), based on the manga of the same name (I don't think you would like it considering it's a splatter film), and Homunculus (2021), also based on a manga, which was not a good adaptation IMO.
Some of you never watched Bakugan Battle Brawlers on TeleToon in 2008 and it shows.

I think I only watched Death Note and Godzilla.
Edit: actually I made the mistake of watching Attack on Titan. Very much not recommended.

@BitChilly the thread's title is literally Japanese movies. Rush Hour and Knives Out are asian now?

@YN_ON nice to see Kamikaze Girls mentioned. That's actually a live action of the shoujo manga.

@RenaPsychoKiller Oh I must've misread the title by accident and didn't realize until you pinged me, that's my bad.
