Nephy's turning point, along with Zagan instinctively knowing that his fellow sorcerer Barbatos is behind the act since the Facestealer incident, he's not called Barbatos the Purgatory for nothing. But even then, Zagan the Sorcerer Slayer proves why he's deemed the 13th Archdemon, even when the odds are stacked against him, with the theoretical ultimate casting sorcery, thanks to Andras the Accursed for torturing him, allowing the mimicry of sorcery, plus extensive research, and the annoyance of young Barbatos treating him like a friend with ulterior motives, literally giving him a scare with his power.

Unfortunately, Barbatos's casting circle, together with Zagan's unconscious strike, has invoked on the summoning of a true demon: a Shadow. It being able to read Zagan, this is even intense than the Archdemons, of which it bows down to him because of the Archdemon emblem, and thankfully averted a potential crisis. With everyone taking their leave, both Zagan and Nephy are left alone, and the former took his oath like a gentleman, wanting Nephy to call him by his name...like a proposal that has the action of love, yet no thanks to embarassment, he could not say it. And her slave collar being their engagement ring, it's still sweet, you've gotta admit that, and Zagan's back to square one how to love his elf bride.

A new Demon Lord's on the horizon, and Chastille's case of protecting Zagan cost her Angelic Knight position, which despite the kickback from her vailant knights, isn't enough to stop her demotion. At the very least, Chastille is fighting for true justice now.

Impressive episode.

We're going to explain why he let him live. Wasn't this guy sacrificing girls?

I mean, he did just break his arms and legs, but couldn't he at least beat him nearly to death? Maybe once or six or seven times? Also, Barbatos must be pretty good at healing magic to recover from those blows so quickly. Maybe he should become a doctor instead of a mage. Well, all those deaths are a payment for something. Demons do love negative energy, so... the moron summoned demons... lol. Well, Zagan was shown to be soft-hearted for a mage. Still, I wonder what a "real" demon is like, and if it turns into a cute girl.

So if mages with the demon king crest can summon demons, then I guess the Pope should be able to summon gods. Maybe there might be a legitimate reason why the church hates all mages, but I guess both sides have been at a standstill for quite some time now. More recent people, including those from the church and mages, don’t really mind each other, as long as they're not breaking any laws. I don't like the fact that he put that chain on her neck again; that's really disturbing since his intentions are really not heading in that direction.

Kidnapping a Demon Lord's slave doesn't sound as useful as kidnapping a Demon Lord's wife.

Banger episode. We all saw Zagan beating Barabatos’ ass coming from a mile away, honestly not too surprised that he let em off easy.

They’ve been “friends” for so long and Zagan is really a kind person at heart. I think Barbatos is as well despite having a lot of insecurities. Yea the whole thing with kidnapping girls thing was wild, but oh well πŸ˜‚

Zagan being all afraid of accidentally summoning a true demon and then the demon bowing to him was a cool scene. He literally doesn’t know his own strength yet. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of the demons soon. If that was a corrupted summoning I wonder what a true one looks like.

First name basis!! Let’s go Zagan and Nephy are making progress in their own socially awkward way. Zagan couldn’t get out the words “I love you” but he’s getting there. Nephy definitely knows she’s much more than a slave to him now. “You belong to me, forever” 😩 That was a very Zagan-esque confession and using the slave collar instead of a ring is emblematic of their relationship

They even named dropped the title! Perfect segue into the second half of the cour

Feel bad for Chastille getting stripped of her knightly duties because she refused to go along with what Clavwell wanted, but Zagan gave her the courage to stand up for what she believes in. I’m sure it’ll pay off for her.

and now the name makes sense because before he was not an archdemon and the elf was not a bride but a slave though it took 6 episodes to do so doesnt matter

this episode a little more action and fantasy heavy with a sprinkle of romance though i dont mind but really a slave collar as a engagement ring if a woman heard that they will probaly lose their minds

For a minute there I thought Nephy was going to step in when the demon was inadvertently summoned but instead it obeys Zagan, and that should keep Barbatos in line although I would question the future booze he's going to provide...

Anyway, Nephy is now engaged to Zagan and her engagement "ring" is crazy lol.

So far, romance is still wholesome, but honestly i'm not a fan of collar fetish, so it looked crazy to me lmao. However, I'm still looking forward to seeing how their romance develops.

Why did he bring Bird Lady to the fight, anyway?

So combat ended up being incredibly goofy with Barabros not even coming close to being a threat to Zagan. And that's even before Zagan learned he has the power to put demons in his pocket. Even with all his reasoning, I still want to say that leaving Barbaros alive was a mistake. As they say, overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.

On the romance side however, we get our boy Zagan confessing/proposing to Nephy in his own special way after only half the season. Very refreshing. None of that "200 chapters to hold hands" garbage that's all too prevalent these days.

More struggles between Chastille and the corrupt church. Who knows, maybe falling out with them will improve her reputation among the commoners.

I really liked that Zagan told Nephy she isn’t his slave anymore. I hate the whole slavery trope in anime and it’s been bothering me in this one as well. Especially because Nephy acts like she has Stockholm syndrome. Always calling Zagan Master and behaving not realistic at all. So it was nice to see Zagan clearing things up. But why do you have to put the collar back on? Seriously why? It honestly destroyed what was accomplished beforehand.

Definitely not a fan of these past couple episodes, most of it felt wasteful. The only actual notable thing that happened is that knight girl is now ex-knight girl. Action definely not the show's strongest point. More of the 2 leads doing cute and silly things and less of whatever the past couple episodes have been.

@IzanaSolos I think Barbatos said this last episode that he was just transferring them and Facestealer, or whatever his name was, was using them. I know that's not good either, but no one's kill count in this show is zero.

Well, the fight was over before it started.
Not being able to say 'I love you' after saying and doing all that. Truly a romance anime.
One of the things in the manga that I didn't enjoy was putting the collar back on, but because the entire plot revolves on it, I'll have to overlook it.

Damn, another lovable episode!
Nice conclusion, but there's a new problem in the midst. How can they overcome such problems?! OwO

Chastille's knightly appearance as she denounced one the higher-up's sickening and unreasonable demand of her, she was so stunning.

The main two lovers, or whatever Zagan will name their relationship, I can't wait what will he come up with.

Lastly, they did a better job, but not quite, at portraying how the summoned entity—of how creepy it really is.

making a slave collar to be their engagement ring was rather sweet in that bit.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

@Lampblasted That's actually a little different from the novel. Manuela wanted to go to support Nephy, and he agreed to it, figuring he could protect her also or a chance to get Nephy out while he fought. I don't know why they changed it to Zagan asking her to come along in the show.

This is 100% how I feel. Making one member of the romance a literal slave to the other cheapens it. Dude could have fashioned the collar into a ring or even a bracelet or some shit. Putting a slave collar on your fiancé is so tired.

Huh...?
Dragging this out?
The pacing is great.
The normal pace is greater than cutting things to RUIN—and will have a greater chance of ruining the adaptation, and will eventually get a rushed ending.
If you really are a fan, you wouldn't say such things.

It's like Gray Worm keeping his name when Daenerys asked, it represents the circumstances that brought them together, and had she not been captured and sold, she never would have come to meet Zagan. Also, love is weird. Also, there's an edge case where the collar can cause someone to underestimate her, but I doubt that entered into the decision process.

Yeah no makes sense. If I was her I would have wanted to keep wearing the thing that symbolises all the pain and suffering I went through as well. Seriously, wtf! The explanation we were given was completely half-assed. All it did was destroy what was accomplished and degrade her as a human being.

@Eleben I was making a joke, relax. That being said, if she is taking the collar that was a symbol of her bondage (not the sexual kind) and turn it into a symbol of submission (not the sexual kind) to Zagan, whom she loves and cherishes (even if neither one of them have openly admitted it yet) I'll think it's a little weird, but *her* call. Nephy ASKED to be collared, as a show of her loyalty and support. I'm not sure if the sealing magic is still present (or indeed if she might want it to be to help control her mysticism). Would you have the same reaction if he'd manipulated/forged the collar into a wedding ring instead, keeping the meaning of the gesture intact but not the symbolism of the object?

Tl;Dr - Nephy asked to have the collar returned to her neck, so no, I don't think it destroys anything.

@Paulternative I wouldn’t have had the same reaction if he forged the collar into a wedding ring instead. I think that would have been the obvious and better choice. They could have pursued their romantic relationship while leaving the whole slave/servant and master relationship in the past.
