Is it a failure when the anime has more entertaining side characters than mains? (Useless Thread #98)
Imagine wanting to write a novel yet your only success is creating a hot horny elf whereas your main characters are parodies and caricatures. |

| Well that's like literally the whole running gag of Yuru Yuri, that the main character basically doesn't exist, so I'd say no. When nobody's entertaining though... that's a problem. |

| It depends how much screentime they get. It is not that unusual for a series to have better sidecharacters than mcs though. Even villains tend to get better writing than mcs in most cases. |

| Nope. It’s okay if a lot of side cast are meant to be fun and entertaining even if they’re one dimensional because the MCs get a lot of characters development instead. Although I appreciate an MC who is both entertaining and gets development too |

| I'd say not really. A great cast of characters can elevate a series even if the main protagonist isn't the most interesting character in their own story. |
