| Ambivalent is better in my opinion. Hana Ni Natte is good but sounds like your average anime opening when compared to Ambivalent. |

| I like Hana ni Natte a lot more. Ambivalent is one of the best OPs of this Winter 2024 season, but I personally consider Hana ni Natte to be the 2nd best OP of 2023. |

| Easily OP1. I like when anime OPs try to be creative and original instead of simply showing scenes/moments from the respective cour they are covering. |

Lots of spoilers but if you haven't watched the season, you got no clue what's going on. for me it did. I don't particularly like when season elements are displayed in the opening because it always ends up with me figuring stuff out, but I am kinda sensitive with what I consider spoilers. For me the heavy presence of Lakan in the opening bothered me. I also knew immediately blue roses would play a part on the season, amongst other things that I'd rather not know. it was after watching it the first time that I decided not to wait for the end to read the manga. since I was already figuring out a couple things. I get that this might not be the general experience, but it's the reason I prefer the first . |

| I thought both were stellar. The first OP's song and visuals worked together better, and I liked how the flower imagery and the dance helped convey Maomao's perspective on her own life and identity. The second OP was more concrete, depicting actual scenes from the story. It was cute, but moving from OP 1 to OP 2 felt like a reduction in stakes going from abstract imagery to slice-of-life stills (especially given that Lakan's role in the story is fairly high stakes, emotionally). Still very pretty, though! |
