| Once again I find myself able to relate to her reasoning (to a degree). It says in the synopsis "and the support and love of her brother Tomoki". When will that happen, I wonder? Hopefully soon because, while it's a very good anime so far, it hit's a bit too close to home. She's kinda adorable when she tries to talk, though. |

| I'm not surprised that Tomoko doesn't want to go to school. I feel the same way as her honestly. At least she is ok from going through the depths of hell from the rain and wind while on her way home from school though. Eventually, I'm sure that she'll be wanted by somebody regardless of the choice she chose in the psychological test. |
| Yeah, me too Tomoko, I hate it when someone just steals your umbrella. Yeah, I do hate being scolded. Especially when I'm not in the mood for it either.. so I end up not listening at all just to pass that awkward time. xd Yeah, she is quite the shy type, I agree with the guy. I would watch Kuroki No Basuke, ngl. xd Or a series revolving around her being a sniper. xd Also being able to fake an illness? I love that stuff as an introvert. That sis-bro moment tho. |

| Hey! the whole bro and sis moment was pretty darn adorable to watch but the whole umbrella thing was harsh sheesh. |

| This episode perfectly outlines Tomoko's character of self-pity and cluelessness. Finally in the school building after a terrible rainstorm, Tomoko of course, is eavesdropping on her classmates groaning about the rain and their hair, not wanting to see a boy with her hair in that state. And of course, Tomoko has no idea what they're talking about- maybe a chance for her to do her semi-annual look in the mirror, her own hair like she was at ground zero of Godzilla. To further illustrate her Notes from Underground style bemoaning of the state of society, she spots her umbrella isn't in the rack at school- has someone swiped it? She crashes out about how such a scum of a person could do such a thing, and no doubt still has dreamy teenage years. Murder flashes across her mind when she notices her umbrella in the second rack. To further contribute to her self-pity, her umbrella breaks in the wind, and she winds up trapped under a bench and pagoda. Two boys arrive, and despite her desperation to improve her conversational skills, she wishes they would just go away. She considers leaving when one of the boys speaks to her- his umbrella also broke. She tweaks completely out and can only manage to respond with "it's raining". Trying, finally, to say something witty, she mentions that she's sweating almost like a basketball manga. They do the unthinkable in response: "Huh? What did you say? Sorry, were you talking to me?" Almost to the point of tears in embarrassment, she runs off, and when questioned, she can only say she was going to go take a disgusting dump. After spiraling in the bathroom, she realizes if she comes out late, they'll think she was serious. She comes back out, and they're gone. Thinking she's blown her chance completely, she lays down sadly on the bench, and falls asleep. Here's where dramatic irony contributes to her pathetic sense of self: the boys come back-- and they've bought umbrellas for themselves, and one boy buys one for Tomoko. He sets it down next to the sleeping girl and hopes she'll notice it. Tomoko wakes up and hopes she's not stealing the brand-new umbrella, sadly wishing "a boy would ever be nice to me". |
