Don't get me wrong, Shibuya had better animation, peaks and the fights and was amazing.

But Hidden Inventory just hit different, I don't know how to describe it just felt comfortable to watch. Maybe its because I like emotional stories more and HI was that.

Me, Shibuya kinda reminds me of the latest arc of Demon Slayer, just one big fight that all supposedly happened in just one night.

Hidden Inventory was a little more regular paced imo.

I liked that there was less trauma and that my favorite characters were still alive 👍 and something about seeing gojo and geto (and everyone else) as friends before everything turned bad is comfy

as a manga reader Gojo's Past is my favourite arc (possibly tied with Perfect Prep). I'm not sure which I preferred for the anime, but when I was first reading I 100% agree that Hidden Inventory was better

As a manga reader, for me Shibuya Arc was always my favourite. It was this part where Gege wanted to remove Gojo somehow and make the story entertaining without Gojo. Battle of the strongest will be hyped lol 😂

Hidden inventory is very well written, it feels like it needed more episodes imo.
I'm disappointed with how plain is the story in Shibuya.
So it's hidden inventory for me too.

Yea honestly i liked it but i felt like it lacked more writting, Shibuya i mean. I felt like i was watching just Dbz or Baki again. Dont get me wrong i like cool fights but Gege lacked in that sense. Where its supposedly a shounnen yk ... and the deaths to me felt meaningless bc of that, he barely even wrote anything about those dying chars AND ONLy on their dying moments lol rlly ...

I like both, but for me, I like Shibuya more purely because of its intensity and high stakes. Helps that it has some of the best fights in the series. I like HI for its focus on characters but in terms of pure entertainment, Shibuya takes the cake.

Finally found someone with similar opinion
I really liked hidden inventory arc but shibuya was just a disappointment most of the characters were underdeveloped the narration was fucked up as well and there was not even a proper build up for shibuya

I can totally see why someone will like hidden inventory more but I think the structure of hidden inventory is really not something I love

The first half of hidden inventory is just fun and games literally nothing important happens until the story reaches the second half ( when toji stabs gojo)

The first one-third of shibhuya also wasn't as exciting as the later part of shibhuya but it was still really enjoyable and there were some really good fights like mechamaru vs mahito and also gojo being sealed

Hidden Inventory had a Digimon reference so it's automatically better.

But yeah, I really didn't enjoy the non-stop fights in Shibuya.

Shibuya did what like no other anime or show would do, kill off most the characters people loved and take away the strongest character from the rest of the characters so he can’t do anything. It also showed how chaotic everything became when gojos not there - showing how important he really is.

I was genuinely shocked by hidden inventory.

Shibuya was just overwhelming violence that becomes mundane. Plot takes a firm backseat. Feel like after gojo is captured, they remaining epsidoes could have been completed in half as many. Remove characters like the Cthulhu demon, the guy with mustache, even megumi senior.

I feel like some people don’t understand shibuya or how plot works. Just because an arc is mostly action based doesn’t mean the plot just sit backs on a chair and relaxes. The fights and action keep it progressing.

I can definitely see why a lot of people prefer Hidden Inventory because it was genuinely great but Shibuya is getting a bit downplayed and misunderstood here.

I can agree. Hidden Inventory has soo much different vibes and mood compared to any other shonen animes.
The color settings, and music, the storyboard is very majestic and the animation is way more consistent than shibuya arc.

I am not even a Gojo fan but Hidden Inventory is the best of JJk so far

Also I don't mind abt full of fights during the shibuya arc.
The story progresses via fights, and that's how shonen action anime works.
The selling point from JJk wasn't from it's amazingly plot twisting mindbllowing story since the beginning, it was the well made fights.

JJk has a story, but it was told via fights
Some of you complaining abt JJk has no story but fights is like complaining on comedy animes because they told their stories by comedies
We all have shit taste, especially in animes
No one's right, no one's wrong

Hard to say.

Hidden inventory was by far and beyond my favourite part of the entire series up to this point in terms of story, and made me much more invested in the series.

But shibuya, was a masterpiece of an action ride. Like I don't think I have ever seen this many 10/10 fight scenes and impactful climaxes back to back to back.

I feel like a massive part of why I liked shibuya so much, was because hidden inventory made me 10 times more invested in the series, but I can't deny that the peak of shibuya had some of my favourite fights scenes period.

Would I say hidden inventory was better? Maybe

Would I say shibuya was worse? not exactly

What I can say for sure though, is that both of them are better for existing along side each other, and If this season was one of them, I would like it less than the season being both arcs together. It's a "sum of both arcs being better than the either arcs individually" situation.

Hidden Inventory 100%, it’s one of the few arcs in the series that remotely takes time to explore its characters and their dynamics/feelings about anything

Yeah there was something just chill about seeing Gojo, Geto and the others all calm and relaxed for most of the time. I kinda like it better than Shibuya, although Shibuya had a lot of peak moments.

I'm with you bro. I wasn't a fan of the storytelling in Shibuya at all. Gojo's past was something I looked forward to Weekly while I never really got pumped to watch the new shibuya episode.

As a One Piece fan and long time shounen watcher, it's my firm belief that backstorys in shounen are consistently good parts of the story. some examples:

-Any One Piece flashback (Oden's as an example)
-The Hasirama/Madara flashback in Naruto
-Gojo's flashback (the one referenced in this post)
-Dazai's backstory in Bungou Stray Dogs
-Fairy Tail Zero (A flashback showing the life of the Guild's founders)

there are many more.

Hidden Inventory was phenomenal, it's the only actual good part of this entire series. It was a sneak peek into how good this whole show could've been. Everything else (Season 1, the movie, the rest of season 2) has bored me to tears.

Yeah I definitely prefer the Hidden Inventory arc more as well. It added more depth to Gojou and Suguru as characters and introduced likeable characters such as Touji and Riko, while the Shibuya arc felt like it was just constant fights after fights after fights...like, the animation is amazing, sure, but I found myself not caring about any of the characters and wishing to skip to the end results. Especially the last fight against Mahito...I almost fell asleep watching it.
I had this exact same problem with the first season as well - I liked the first half of the season, and especially liked the arc involving Mahito and Junpei the most, cause it felt like there was overall more emotions and tragedy attached to Junpei as a character. But then the Goodwill Event arc happened, and there were so many new characters that I couldn't find myself invested or to care about any of them, and it took me months just to get myself the motivation to finish watching the fight with Yuuji and Aoi vs. Hanami.
