I don't think it's going to be a hit tbh. Sure, it will probably have its fanbase and be a good anime, but there is no way it reaches the highs of, "Say frieren jujutsu, aot ect partly just due to being a remake.

I feel like it'll be more like a Ruruni Kenshin reboot than a Fruits Basket Reboot in terms of being popular but not surpassing the original at least.
And that's not to say it won't be better or worse, just less popular members wise.

I don't think so. Most likely, it will be an infamous project rather than become a hit.

I think it would be easier to tell after the first episode. To me the story is very well done, has less clichés, and more relatable than a lot of anime. However that is what keeps a lot of the audience to continue watching. I think the main things to get an audience to start watching is animation quality, friends talking, and nostalgia.

although the originals are amazing, and Holo is top 50 (makima is at #50 and Holo is #51), I don't think it will be much of a hit. I have faith though 🙏🙏🙏

The Fruits Basket Reboot was not that popular when it was airing (more than the Rurouni Kenshin one tho) , and it got more members than the Original 2 years after its run , when the Final Movie was released and hit #1 on the Top Anime of MAL.

On one hand I'd say the story is very good and the first pics look really nice, but on the other hand I think your average anime is probably better nowadays than it was back when the first anime adaptation came out, so...
Basically, I hope it will bring in a new generation of fans, but difficult to say what's going to happen :)

The original anime wasn’t really that great tbh. And they did cut a lot of stuff

If they finish the story it could be. Not sure how much I trust Passione to deliver but very excited nonetheless.

People like things that are easy to digest for their brains, like JJK or DS, that’s why they are so popular, and because they are easy to digest complicated anime with complex trama are not so popular, so there you have that…

if it turns out well it'll probably depend on how long they make it, if it ends up adapting more and not finishing at a very unsatisfying point, perhaps it could even eclipse the original adaptation

I would say that I think it will probably be a great reboot, this is one of those shows that would be kind of difficult to mess up fully on.
The reboot could even copy the original word for word and update the animation and this would be a good anime.

One way I think this could fail is if they make it full of CGI, and from what I have seen, it will most likely not.
Only other way they could ruin it is by adding unnecessary additions to the story that do not take place in the manga or LN to pander to people's beliefs or add unnecessary characters.

They literally should have an almost zero % chance at messing this up. Hopefully I do not jinx it.

No, but not necessarily because of it's own fault. I believe this might be a passion project, touching the light novel for a re-adaptation after more than 10 years, and hopefully it will be a mostly complete adaptation (up to volume 17). But it's not really a story with mainstream appeal, if I should want to word it in an inoffensive way.

I'd rather see a Wolf and Parchment anime instead of a remake if im honest.

odds are it wont do to great, but it wont tank, after all spice and wolf already has a massive following of fans as it is from the OG novels (techincally 24 but only 7 of them are fillers) to the OG anime, the fact the author went so far in the story goes to show how well its story does in general

the issue most people will probably have is the stark difference of the art style, its way to bright compared to the OG anime, but also way to... effects... extra whatever you wanna call it? compared to the art from the novels

like its way to glammed up for how the story goes, like the art style doesnt really fit the narrative story telling, the old anime the art style was very fitting for the story

Spice & Wolf is one of my fav animes and from the looks of what I've seen so far, this is going to flop so hard. Not only is it a huge downgrade in terms of art style/animation, but it's an unnecessary reboot when what was really needed is a continuation after season 2.

@rebirthx It doesn't matter what we fans of original think. If it appeals to new fans, which there are a lot of it can be big hit.
Dumb down the story, insert some edginess, brooding moments and wrap with god tier visuals that left the animators on the brink of death....you have yourself a hit. That is the state of industry.

I'd be surprised if Spice and Wolf (2024) didn't rank #1 or #2 on MAL's Top Anime when it starts airing, seeing how high the light novel ranks on MAL, and this new adaptation is supposed to be more faithful to the light novel, as I read that they cut out important things in the 2008 version.

Unfortunately I predict this will just be mere 7.x kind of production
