This anime is unexpectedly good! Though the ending is a bit lacking..
Why Finis is pregnant? Who's the husband? Is Rin the one inside? Who's that Corte? Corte is a knight now? Why Corte is with Finis? Has Finis lost her immortality? Did she turn back her hairstyle because she lost her immortality? There is still no explanation why Rin can also cast spell other than the healing song!

Out of all the Netflix 'original' anime, I like this one the most. I'm looking forward to other Netflix anime.

If you like this, you might want to try Children of the Whales. It's a Netflix fantasy anime as well.

Maybe it's Henry Leobert(the past one) offspring, it just my wild guess that maybe she revert back to being "human" when she lost her immortality
To put simply it as if her(Finis) time begin to move again rather than stay at standstill because she finally move on from her past regret, her immortality is just like she had her body state frozen in time
A bit metaphorical but i guess it make sense nonetheless

So i really liked this Anime even after the huge twist and the odd time stuff.
But by the end of episode 12 this times Henry is in love with the Princess and not Fenis and Corte is a Knight? But Fenis is pregnant- so who is the father? Did some kind of thing happen between this new henry and Fenis or... idk... but like will the baby be Rin reborn? So many questions.
Its because of these questions that I say i liked it but not love it.

Wish they took their time with the anime it felt a bit rushed especially around Finis’s immortality and how she was ‘reborn’ into different eras.. definitely support the theory that her pregnacy was from the first Henry and that her immortality is over hence why the pregnancy could continue. It also feels a bit weird that everyone except Finis aren’t the originals and that they perished from the first song of destruction a little bit baffling 😬

I really enjoyed this anime because I really had to think to put the pieces together. Realizing that we were actually watching two different timelines for about half was interesting. I find the ending to be terrible. The battle was not very good or complex. The climax with Rin and Finis did not feel important at all. Rin just evaporating, though it made sense in context of the story, was stupid as she literally is the embodiment of hope. Plus, Rin talked with Finis for like a minute, sang a song (which is somehow two songs - representing hope and destruction - so why did it save the planet when the songs shouldn't even match up), and Finis was suddenly happy again, despite loathing everything about the world for hundreds of thousands of years (one scene about halfway through tells us that she is prepared to wait 60,000 years to destroy the earth). None of this makes sense. It was a real misstep for what had been a decent anime on the way through.

The rushed ending really confused people. It's more likely that Rin was the embodiment of Finis' hope, which would have been the hope for a future with the original timeline's henry. The reason why the songs were sung together, despite having opposite themes of destruction and hope, was because you can't have one without the other. And more specifically, Rin's "sacrifice" meant that Finis could feel the value of life again.

Rin was always Finis' hopeful future and what was meant to be in the original timeline. Which would explain her pregnancy. Current timeline Henry is with Pony.

I agree with you on everything. I think at the end Finis is pregnant with the first timeline Henry and Corte is a knight because she is the first Henry reincarnation. While the 2nd timeline Henry is with Pony.
I also adored Al's crush on Rin.

yes, I think Finis is pregnant from the first Henry and Corte became a knight because she is the reincarnation of the 1s1 Henry

i have no idea if i loved or hated this anime.. on one hand, the story was nice and i liked the thing with fenis going on, on the other hand it was rushed and holes were left.
fenis didn't end up with henry after all, even though she literally destroyed the world over grief from him. i dont understand the "first henry, second henry" stuff but im guessing it means her child is from past time henry, and the current henry is with pony. so when regaining human form, she ended up pregnant from the original henry i think?
i'm a little confused and shocked at how much i liked but also disliked an anime, so i'll set it in the middle at a 5.

Welllll I’m confused XD but I honestly really enjoyed this series. I liked the characters and I thought finis being immortal was really cool and i didn’t see that coming. I also like the ending because it’s not very typical. Really didn’t expect rin to disappear. It was sad but beautiful. I’m just let with so many questions. But I’m giving it a 7/10

I still have one question, why was Rin and Finis both alive in the first timeline? I thought that Rin was created when Finis had given up hope, which it is shown that Finis hadn't yet because she could still sing the song of healing. I don't think that it is possible we were seeing 2 different timeline from episode 1-7. In episode 7 it was shown that Rin and her "orchestra" entered a tent to look for Finis. Then they heard her playing the song of mortality. When the current timeline started (sorry I don't know which episode) it started off with Rin and her group spying on Finis, and there were no tents. I need the producer to provide answers because I am still very confused lol.

Simple answer: You fell for the red herrings.

Rin's story is ONLY from the last (current) timelines, whereas Finis's was the first (original). The intent of the writing was so that you'd think it was all happening during the same time until they were to meet -- and then are shown that they were never in the same time. And I get where you're basing it off of, but they're red herrings;

Fenis never used -that- tent and was instead within a "cube" the whole time recording Songs for weaponized use. We know by the soldiers' commentary that no one had ever seen Fenis, not even so much as in passing. This is the opposite of during the first timeline wherein Fenis was seen and spoken with by soldiers through-out the entire travel. On the road and in the camp. But, during Rin's timeline, none of that happened. This may seem confusing, but through context alone it was likely so the soldiers believed Fenis was always there despite no one seeing her; it led to them even wondering if she was real.

Rin & co also never spied on Fenis from the first timeline. There were cutaways constantly at any chance we'd have assumed they were able to meet or see one-another (for the sake of not letting us know they were different timelines), and they were done really well. But no, they never saw Fenis before the last timeline.

Now, here are some additional references for why it'd be impossible for Rin to have existed on an earlier timelines:

- The giant weapon and the compressed Song cubes. These didn't and couldn't have existed in the first timeline. Fenis would've been long dead before even considering the Song of Mortality.

- The city/fort beside the camp. During the first timeline (before the Song of Mortality), we see it in fine shape behind Henry while at the stake. During the current, however, Pony explains it as a place that had always been covered in ash and in such shape for as long as anyone can remember. We can tell it's the same place not only because it's right outside the camp, but Henry's sword from the first timeline is still stuck right outside it on the other side. Chances are high this place froze in time along with Fenis when she clenched the sword whilst singing.

- The legends and hearsay about Songstresses. During the first timeline, not once was any of it mentioned. We never even heard of multiple Songstresses existing at the same time, nor that the enemy to the Capital ever had any of their own. But during the current timeline, since meeting Pony, we heard all sorts of things such as the Goddess, and the Festival where singing to the Star makes one's wish come true. Through the memory recanting, we learn it was Fenis that created all of that. HOWEVER, both timelines addressed that singing Songs shortens the Songstress's life and during the last timeline, that was never an issue - tho that's likely 'cause Fenis was essentially immortal at the time and Rin was never technically human (so that might've just been an exception to the rule).

I feel like some of these explanations have been a wonder to read. I feel like many are edging on the reality of it but I think the Goddess has a bit more to do with it than people are giving her credit for. To follow this, you have to first acknowledge her existence.

I think we were watching one timeline between Rin and Fenis. Rin original was indeed a person in that timeline and so was Fenis. They were "vessels" of the Goddess if you will. They both had the power of songs. At the first climax when Fenis destroys everything, Rin original dies. We see Fenis drifting through time trying to recapture her old life. She has become the vessel of destiny, a rather dark one involving the apocalypse.

What we don't see is that Fenis and Henry did the dirty (as shown by flashbacks showing romance). Fenis got pregnant and I feel like she "aborted" the pregnancy because she felt she couldn't go on without Henry. This happens before time continues onward for tens of thousands of years repeating with minor differences.

When the time comes for Fenis' plan to be carried out, the final replay of time, the Goddess takes the spirit of her now dead vessel (Rin original) and makes her the counter to Fenis' pain, hope. She is symbolically the hope Fenis no longer feels. She is NOT a real person at this point. Rin original was real and was killed by Fenis having never met her.

So in closing the duet they sing is meant to be. The songs fill in the gaps for each other. Rin (as the vessel of hope) had one mission and that was to return to Fenis. She succeeds and I think the Goddess reset things to an extent. Fenis got her baby back and that baby is her hope for the future. As far as who is who for the last replay of history I agree with the post above me.

I see a lot of people thinking the baby is the baby from the first Henry. But I think that isn't true. The wish of Fenis could be 'new hope' or 'a reason to life'. Which resulted in her no longer living forever, Corte reappearing as knight to protect her and a child for which she can care for.

It is a decently made anime but with a ton of flaw in term of execution. They got the idea down and how they are going to do it. But when it is time to actually write the whole story only a small part of it hold the water. And I didn't even bother how many time they forced the writing to make the story makes sense. I mean 21 little air-plane trying to save an entire kingdom. Are they some kind of super specially elite Spartan, or something?

I really love this anime after episode 7 things starts to get confusing but after if you keep watching on everything starts to make sense. I really loved this ending

I've watch enough crap anime to say that this one is not. Far from that.

10/10 because i don't save 10/10s, i use it to every anime that really surprises me.

It had everything to be a trainwreck, but after ep. 07 it gained my curiousity, my attention, then my respect.

The "confuse" plot was solved and explained consistently for what matters to the story.

The end was not a lame 100% happy since the MC "died". But was not leaving anything without solution.
Actually, COME ON! the end is so satisfactory that even explained who was "interviewing" that witnesses from Finis's past, and the comic relief rebel princess ended with her "hot" hero just for the lulz!

The author of this ORIGINAL anime (even harder to have an harmonic plot) did a great job.

I'm glad i did not drop it after stop at episode 4 months ago to finish the rest just now.

Wow, roller coaster much? I’m shocked they actually went through with “killing” off Rin.
And Finis is pregnant? I’m guessing it’s Rin because of how she felt a heart beat after Rin disappeared,
though someone else said that when she became immortal that her body could’ve froze and she could’ve been pregnant with Henry’s child (the original) and when she became mortal again the baby started growing again.

Either way, great music and feelings in this anime imo, though they left us wondering about a lot of things which is annoying to say the least.

I hope there’s a season 2 eventually but it’s been like what? 5 years?

Either way, I think this anime was good especially with the giant plot twist with Henry dying and Finis destroying the world partially,
it’s crazy to think of the parallels,
the whole beginning with Finis and Henry was the past and when Henry talked about Finis to Rin it wasn’t the Henry we thought,
who knew Finis and loved her,
it was the Henry at the end who was trying to save her and the kingdom and just thought she was being used.

Though I’m curious who he was talking about when he told Finis he wanted her to meet someone?

I really wanted Finis and Henry to be together in the end but sadly I don’t think they are.
Like someone else said, Finis loved the Henry she knew, who loved her, and this Henry was not him, same timeline but he doesn’t have the feelings for her that the other one did.

Another thing that threw me off was that Al loved Rin? Sorry I definitely saw it coming a bit but they’re just like siblings😅 Mel is Rin’s older sister and her and Al are both related to Grandpa and all three are his grandchildren so it kinda felt weird to me for them to be shipped in the actual show. And yes I know they’re not actually related.

Anyways, I’d definitely recommend this anime, the plot twist through me off 100% and it was a joy to watch.
Hope to eventually get answers. Bye bye! Unless they release more!
Or I rewatch which probably won’t happen for a loooonnnggg time, I watched 5 episodes of this anime years ago and stopped and now I binged it today and yesterday so yeah.
