 Bloody hell, hahaha, Kanbaru, you have no grasp of the concept of shame.  Allowed for this adorable smile and laugh so it's okay.  How I love Araragi's hair.  The end was pretty damn heavy, actually challenging Araragi's helpfulness. Overall, solid arc with a character who, while a bit less interesting, is still cute and fun, also a change of pace from everyone else having lots of snark. Read some of the first page's thoughts and it really is interesting how big of changes Shaft makes with the Blu-ray release. This episode's animation was heaps good, haha. The fanservice animation especially. |

| The episode was pretty good and the OP is a bop, I wish they added another episode to the arc since it was lacking. (I didn't know the black screens literally just said black lol) The arc could've done without the fanservice, and Nadeko was interesting tbh but she was only represented as a loli. The reverse-grudge was very confusing, and the snake was said to be really dangerous and different from the other curses, yet more emphasis was placed on the others. The arc gets unnecessary hate, tbh. Also where are the weird stills people are talking about? Was I watching the DVD version? |

| how short nadeko's arc is in the anime really makes me want to read the novels. i know monogatari is know for it's fanservice, but fanservice while a character is struggling/hurt/suffering always makes me feel kind of icky. so when nadeko was at the shrine, all the lewd close up shots... i didn't like it. i'm actually rewatching the series, i haven't seen it since it aired and my perspective has changed a lot since then. i think i'm able to feel a lot more sympathy for the girls this time around, since i'm an adult now. i remember really disliking Nadeko, and i feel like she's still generally unpopular amongst the main cast. |
| Nadeko is fine and that's well and good but this episode made more curious about Rarargi and Shinobu. Shinobu has some sorta royal blood flowing through her and is probably the reason why there are so many oddities occurring and then there's Ararargi with his weird obsession to save everyone though he does know his limits. Still, to think how just holding a grudge can inflict such suffering on the bearer. Kinda see the real-life parallels here. |

| Based on the forum posts it seems like the OP only played on the last episode of an arc in the TV broadcast version. Makes sense. End of the Nadeko Snake arc. It was a decent arc but might be the weakest out of all the arcs in Bakemonogatari. Ironic cos Sengoku has the most popular Monogatari song. One complaint I have about this episode is the overuse of the slow-motion effect when Araragi was "fighting" the snake. It felt like it was slowed down on purpose to fill up the runtime. Oh well. I like how this was a good lesson for Araragi. He can't save everyone. And he shouldn't focus on saving the wrong people. He's not a doctor. He didn't take the Hippocratic oath or something. He shouldn't go out of his way to save people he didn't even see. Even if it is kind of an admirable trait. I'm familiar with Karen and Tsukihi since I finished the series once. So, when Karen introduced herself as Tsukihi and vice versa I was a little confused. Glad to see I could tell that I was being tricked lol even though it's been a while since I last watched this. |

| I think I can see why people hate this episode. The fights with Araragi's determination shown did happen but then it was too short, action scenes were there but then cut abruptly to make way for the message. THere was a lot more impact to be felt in previous episodes than there were here. This arc just sort of felt ended suddenly even when the message was brought upon, and the girl was saved. Not to mention, Senjogahara left out for some reason and you can feel her absence here despite the explanation at the start of the arc. XD The whole message however though of the episode coming from Meme and Kanbaru of "You can't save everyone" and "Don't choose to save the wrong person" does have its message put out, as it does speak with Araragi ongoing inner obsession of helping others, but maybe it was too on the nose given the series isn't even over yet from this point. XD That being said this arc was pretty underwhelming for me as well, but still visually pleasing even though I was expecting more from it from a narrative standpoint. Next episode! |
