I've been on a Ghibli binge recently, and it's come to my attention that maybe I like anime movies better than anime series. Are there any good anime movies you all would recommend?
Edit: I forgot to note this originally, but at the moment I only have access to movies that I can rent on Amazon Prime Video, so please recommend movies that I can watch on that platform if possible.

Every Shenkai movie, Your name and garden of the words are my favorite ones.

Josee the Tiger and the Fish

Liz and the blue bird, but you need to watch the series first.

I didnt'f find Kiki Delivery Service in your MAL, if you didn't watch i definitely recommend. It's very soft and chill anime. It's the Ghibli movie that most give me ghibli vibes of all them.

Some of my favorites:
Children Who Chase Lost Voices
Patema Inverted
Mary & The Witch’s Flower
The Boy & The Beast
Summer Wars
Expelled from Paradise
Black Fox
White Snake & it’s sequel Green Snake
Little Witch Academia (original & it’s sequel The Enchanted Parade. Both can be watched independently from the TV series)

Thanks! I've seen Your Name, but I need to get into the other Shinkai movies. I've read the manga for Josee, and the movie is in my watchlist.

I actually have seen Kiki's! It should be in there somewhere, I just edited the entry this morning.

I've also included single episode ONA's and OVA's as they are essentially movies too only usually much shorter (although tagged Movies can be quite short also so duration by itself doesn't seem to matter). I'm also assuming you want good movies that aren't necessarily Ghibli-like.

Shorts: -- Frankly, these two gems conveyed more in a few scant minutes than most TV series or 2+ hour-long movies did. Both might bring out the tissues, though.

Tsumiki no Ie (The House of Small Cubes) -- Movie. 12 mins.
Kanamewo -- ONA. 5 mins.

Main Course: -- Stand-alone movies with no follow-up TV series, etc. One and done.

Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki -- Movie. 1 hr. 57 mins. My 2nd fav movie.
Hotarubi no Mori e -- Movie. 45 mins.
Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda -- Movie. 1 hr. 59 mins.
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo -- Movie. 1 hr. 39 mins.
Harmonie -- Movie. 25 mins.
Kaze to Ki no Uta Sanctus: Sei Naru Kana -- OVA. 59 mins. Quite old (1987) but interesting period piece (1880's French boarding school for boys). BL/Yaoi.
Asagao to Kase-san -- OVA. 58 mins. GL/Yuri. Also, if you've never seen a GL anime then this is possibly the best one to sample the genre as it's short and sweet (& not explicit) and has modern graphics.

Pre-quel Movies/OVA's -- Since they occur before their respective TV series they can be watched standalone. They all end on proper conclusions so there is no requirement to continue with their TV follow-on.

Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuioku-hen -- 4 part OVA. 2 hrs total. OK, so despite this being in 4 parts it's also formatted as a movie depending whether you encounter the Director's Cut movie version or the original 4-part OVA. You should know that if you decide to watch the TV series afterwards (at some point) that the TV series is much lighter and comedic compared to this which is decidedly more mature (gory with some quite shocking scenes tbh; although if you can get past the first 5 mins. you'll probably be ok the rest of the way).

Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Waga Yuku wa Hoshi no Taikai
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu: Arata naru Tatakai no Overture
These two movies are the start of the original Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA series. Hoshi is a true prequel while Overture is actually a movie version of the first two episodes of the TV series. So if afterwards you want to dive into the 110 episode-long TV series you can skip episodes 1 and 2. OR, you can jump to the reboot series which starts at the same place as the Overture movie -- but at least it is presented differently.

Anime movies that are sequels or occur later on in their series' time line: -- Well, some of the best anime movies happen during or after a parent series. Obviously almost all of these movies assume prior knowledge of events, character traits and relationships so just watching them banzai fashion is not recommended. I'll list what needs to be watched beforehand followed by the movies in bold.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu 2009
Season 2 included a re-broadcast of S1 with episodes of both seasons interspaced chronologically: watch order. You can speed things up by skipping the middle 5 or 6 episodes of the Endless Eight arc.
Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu -- Movie. 2 hrs. 41 mins. This is my fav movie.

Someone mentioned Liz to Aoi Tori (my 3rd fav movie) so here's what to watch first:
Hibike! Euphonium
Hibike Euphonium: Kakedasu Monaka -- Actually just a single-episode side-story but it's best to see it at this spot.
Hibike Euphonium 2
Liz to Aoi Tori
The franchise continues with Chikai no Finale (which is a movie too but it felt more like a season jammed into a movie format). The final (I'm assuming) installment Nensei-hen is due in 2024 (not counting possible side-shows and summary-type releases).

Violet Evergarden has three movies after the main series. They're all good although Ningyou was the one that really got me. The first two movies are side stories and the last movie concludes the franchise.
Violet Evergarden
Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou -- Movie. 1 hr. 31 mins.
Violet Evergarden: Kitto Ai wo Shiru Hi ga Kuru no Darou -- Movie. 34 mins.
Violet Evergarden Movie -- Movie. 2 hrs. 20 mins.
