You have NO POINT in the first place other than make my claims appear as an OPINION but placing yours as a FACT. If you want to go this slippery slope, I just advise you not to, because you're going to have build a strong and thorough case on why your bar should be the benchmark for everyone else's.

I'll keep it simple and state a FACT even you should be able to understand: The broccoli gaining sentience, is what's called a "twist". If it was too obvious it was going to happen, it wouldn't be an effective twist because everyone would see it coming, in which case, just enough foreshadowing is the best way to make the twist make sense without making it too obvious. Those are facts. Your opinion could be that you don't like twists, and that's ok, but what you're asking is pretty much to make the show have no surprises by making everything too obvious.

Kimurah said:

And again, this is something I personally would had prefered if it was told with animation, not just expect the audience to fill in the blanks with guessing.

It's called respecting the audience's intelligence and ability to understand character actions and motivation from previous characterization without the need to spell it out.

Kimurah said:
I'm confused. You're very proactive with pushing basic foreshadowing as foundation for an outcome. But you call "padding" the play of a support character such as Serizawa that should probably had more weight in this current arc given that he was a huge part in the final arc of season 2. But then again, support characters like Tsubomi, Mezato, Tome and others had their time under the spotlight in this arc in order to be part of Mob's growth.

It is padding because it would add nothing to the narrative. What exactly would adding Serizawa do to make the arc better other than satisfying your specific need to know what he's doing? He's only known Mob for a few weeks at best, he barely interacted with Dimple and he's busy trying to improve his own life. In fact, him neglecting his education to get involved in psychic battles goes pretty much against the themes of self-improvement this show clearly tries to convey.
Serizawa not being involved
-makes sense for his characterization.
-doesn't really detract from any of the themes of the arc.
-doesn't really affect the outcome of the arc, since even if he went with Hanazawa to try and defeat Psycho-Helmet/Dimple, he would have just ended exactly like Hanazawa, brainwashed and blown away with Mob's explosion of power.
-prevents him from stealing screentime from the characters that are actually involved and serve to promote the themes and outcome of the arc.
*laughs in Dimple*

Damn, good ep. I don't care for the tree taking its on form as a villain, but great ep around Dimple and Mob's relationship.

Talk no Jutsu triumphs once again.

I'll be real here and by that I mean be straight out blunt. I don't like the execution of shifting the protagonism into Dimple in one single episode and him acting as a martyr for the mess that he created in the first place, mostly because it's quite a very common trope, along with the one of an entity that gains concience in the last minute and becomes a real threat.

I still like this arc because of the tanglible growth on Mob. I just don't like the conclusion of it and how emotionally manipulative the last scene is, after Dimple betrayed Mob, Reigen, Hanazawa and everyone else's trust.

Also, what the heck happened to Serizawa? He never came back after episode 3.

Great point about Serizawa LOL

I suspected the outcome in the first part from the beginning, and was totally sure this was where they were heading the previous episode, but man, did they pull this off well. No unnecessary bullshit, just Dimple reasoning out his own mistake, then lashing out a bit out of frustration, and then finally folding when Mob called his bluff. He accepted his truth and never looked back. Truly a mature (and human) response from a mature - if a tad naive - character.

Now, of course the fans wouldn't be satisfied without a real fight, so a true villain had to show up at the last moment. It didn't come across as forced though, as they set the stage for this outcome when they explained how the tree's powers were a reflection of everyone's hopes and desires. Since Dimple was using the Psycho Helmet persona as the focus point of all that power, it's no surprise that persona gained a life of its own and inherited Dimple's hunger for power. They ingeniously used the opportunity to redeem Dimple by giving him an excuse to use his godly powers for good.

On the one hand, Dimple kinda created the problem. On the other hand, it's very likely if Dimple hadn't done anything, that some sort of godly entity would have emerged anyway - and, left unchecked, it would have been a much more serious threat. Then again, Mob only lost because he let go of his powers - he would have put up a fight against a different enemy. So who knows if Dimple helped or not. What matters is, Dimple acted selflessly at the end, and proved that at core, he wasn't a bad guy, and that he truly cared for Mob.

Magnificent. 100/10

This was a brilliant episode and overall arc.

Although he will be missed, I can't think of a better character development for Ekubo. He really looked at peace with himself in the end.

This was more than a 5/5 episode. It was a fucking 100/5 episode! I didn't expect the fight to go that way at all. I was expecting the broccoli gaining it's own mind but didn't expect it to be resolved this ep. I was thinking mob goes 100% and defeats dimples then near the end of the ep we find out that the broccoli has gained sentience.

Great ep... that fight was nuts, so much passion is in this project, WP Bones.

I felt emotional about Dimple's last talk with Mob ("You're a real man!") and Mob's later realization of what happened (Dimple, you're my friend!") ... But idk I didn't feel THAT emotional, I still feel odd about Dimple's sudden "villain arc", it should've been properly set up a bit earlier imo

Wonder what can happen in the last 6 episodes, because this was a climax no doubt

It was an amazing episode it was sad how Dimple died though it almost made me cry. After thinking back of this episode, it was really good but sad leaving Mob clueless to what happened as Dimple died and sacrificed himself to keep Mob and the city out of harm's way, in the end he corrected the mistake he made, and I feel like the episode did a great job at showing this.

So-so arc but this episode was definitely stellar. Ekubo brought all this upon himself so his sacrifice wasn't particularly emotional but I won't deny his last stand and farewell scenes were masterfully done.
Not to mention the time that Ekubo finally had the chance to mind-control Mob... and he used said chance to send him home safely. #feels

He barely had any convictions when it came to his dream of 'ruling over the world'. In Episode 1 when he started his plan, he had no giant speech, he just said 'Welp.. Guess my time has come'. Additionally, in Episode 4 when he had practically achieved his dream, his blank gaze while floating on top of the broccoli as he watched his followers implied that he found no enjoyment in being their leader. The arc may have introduced Dimple as the antagonist, but Dimple has time and time again shown that he cares for Mob so he had no reason to hurt/kill him.

So to refute your point, Dimple changing his convictions wasn't that impossible since his desire to 'rule the world' wasn't that strong anyway (as stated in the paragraph above). Additionally, he didn't take a back seat for 'no good reason', he decided to stop because his desire to help Mob (or be friends with Mob) was stronger than his desire to rule the world. Dimple didn't stop his plans because he realises he was wrong, he stopped them because realised he'd rather be friends with Mob than rule the world.

Please learn to read in a more thorough manner before you make a reply.

My paragraph was talking about Serizawa, not Dimple.

I will never stop being amazed over these contrarian hard core pseudo intellectuals that gets called out on their bullshit and always have to resort to extreme amounts disingenuousness in their "arguments". Every single time this happens. Always the same double down nonsense.

Glad Mob finally admit his mistakes

Mob might be not mean it but he did Dimple wrong in episode 3. ekubo just wanted to be famous and appreciated just like Mob. and become a god is the only way he can achieve that since he is spirit and not everyone can see him. but then Mob dismissed him and even call him evil which hurt Dimlpe's feeling while he also wanted the same thing as Dimple and it make him a hypocrite

Dimple telling Mob that he would become big and grow up into an amazing person and then sending him off with smile while waving hand like a true father would do

Ekubo's death was the end of a part of the Mob's growth. As much as he has the temptation to always want a villain, Ebuko was changed by the Mob and the Mob by Ebuko. As they say: "if you don't show the body, there's no definite death" so it's possible that Ebuki is still alive lol

the golden rule of anime death : if we don't see how he die or no body found then he is still alive

also Ekubo has been survived an exorcism twice before. first by mob then by Teru.there's few days (or a week?) span before he returns so this might be the case as well
