Just a genuine question, should I get a HIDIVE account? I've been debating whether to get one, as they do have some shows I want to watch on it but their selection also looks really small. I have the usual services (i.e. CR, Netflix), however lately they do not have what I want to watch. Are there any other streaming sites I should check out?

Also, I do not care about what you think of these companies. If you're looking to complain, this is not the place to do so. Not interested in piracy either, don't have that debate here either. All I am interested in is whether I would get a good value out of an account on any site.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend a Crunchyroll or Funimation account. They tend to have larger sections.

I think based on how things are going, Hidive is definitely worth it if you are a seasonal watcher like me.

It's very clear that Sentai is gonna be investing more and more in new shows each season, and this is very different from how Hidive used to be in the past where they would only have 1 or 3 shows each season, they are definitely growing.
I would also recommend Hidive if you like dubs, cause they do have simuldubs just like Funimation did.

One of the things that I like the most about Hidive is the ability to watch uncensored anime, they really do have a large library of uncensored anime and sometimes they will even simulcast shows weekly with their uncensored versions.

However I do have complaints, the UI I think is really ugly and the player is just weird, but by far the worst problem is that the servers keep breaking, seriously, I have never experienced this problem with Crunchy or Funi, but Hidive's server have went offline multiple times for me, sometimes even when I'm in the middle of watching a show.

But the good thing about Hidive is that it's by far the cheapest service out there, I was even able to get 1 year of premium in a deal that was basically $2 a month.

HiDive is good if you live in America (recommended country if geoblocking is a concern) and are totally into really old anime.

Sadly, every streaming service is a scam. Just sail the high seas like everyone else. Chances are, you can't save every penny for anime in 2022.

Supporting the anime industry without getting ripped off by Aniplex is hard.

It's not bad for the price, as long as you can occasionally deal with their servers shitting themselves.

I mean it depends probably a major chunk of what they have most wouldn't consider watching,

I'd just say look around if anywhere else has whatever you're looking for bro, but if there's nowhere else at least the subscriptions are baby cheap so if there's really stuff you needed to watch go for it lol u can always stop after a month

It's so goddamn clunky (on Android TV, at least). I just started a subscription so I could support an anime streaming service that wasn't in the monopoly. In theory, it should be better than RetroCrush, as you get a larger library of more recent content for the same price.

The menus are this dull gray, and you have to know exactly what you're looking for to really get anywhere. It crashed the first time I tried to play something and then sent me to a "parental control" screen because those were on by default for some reason.

I'm probably going to keep it for a little bit and try to explore the catalog, but almost the only good anime experiences I can get nowadays are through Netflix, Plex, and the library (the annoyance of Blu-ray menus and occasional unskippable ads isn't as bad when you get it for free with all the extras).

Thank you for the feedback everyone!

Taking everything into consideration, I think I will not get a HIDIVE account for now. If they get more titles and fix the technical issues, I may reconsider in the future. Thank you again for the feedback!

So I've been really getting more out of my Hi-dive subscription the last two seasons. I tend to watch from a pc via HDMI on a big screen in my bed room. I love the dark mode.

My only real complaints are this:

1. the Queue seems to have a limit of what is actually showing in it (no matter how many things you add to your queue)
2. When the next episode loads I have to hit 'maximize' on the video to fill the full screen. (This is a particular problem with a lot of dubs wheren the text is near the bottom.
3. It's sometimes not clear whether the 'out in x days' thing is about the subbed or dubbed verion depending on which one you started
4. I've had a few shows that seem to have lost their 'last played' status and had to manually find the next episode.
5. The search and browse system leaves a lot to be improved. Kind of hard to browse by genre many times
6. You often have to hit a drop down then scroll and click on all the genre you are looking for. I have a love hate relationship with the transparent drop downs.
7. I am not convinecd that 'favorites' section is working correclty either.
8. The constant losing of place when you watch seasonal anime is just a bad experience overall. Not an issue if you only watch a couple anime, but if you consume a bunch of current and some older ones at the same time I think it gets confused.

Pluses:
1. Profiles for other family members!
2. ^^ is huge, Mature content can be locked away behind a pin only you know (4 digit isn't much protection though)
3. I like being able to see currently airing stuff in one place
4. I love being able to sort by language, and not get thrown between seasons in different languages like CR's current bad implementation.
5. Being able to stort shows by release date is great, except its not clear if something had multiple releases (like a BR or remaster if that counts as a separate show or changes this date)

But from a PC to TV it beats CR In most things. I just saw that AMazon now has it as a channel, not sure if that's an improvement as I have an awful time finding things in the current Amazon Interface

That's my feedback. The content I definitely enjoy a lot on hi Dive, lots of quality stuff being added each season, CR has a real competitor now.
Be thankful for those you have near who are dear

HIDIVE is a must if it’s got something you want to see that can’t find anywhere else.
